Bluetooth Technology When asked to explain Bluetooth, you might say it’s the little wireless headset with the blue light that makes people appear to be talking to themselves, but Bluetooth can be used for many activities beyond that. Bluetooth technology originally developed in 1994 to be used as a wireless alternative to hardwired data transfer cables and its name is from an ancient Danish king (Harold Blatand) and even the logo was derived from the runes of his initials “H.B.” (Biddle). Bluetooth has fortunately moved beyond simple data transfer and can be found on phones, headsets, keyboards, mice and almost every car has a model that is Bluetooth enabled (bluetooth.com/facts).
While Bluetooth is similar in nature to Wi-Fi, but has a more limited range. it is Bluetooth’s communicates over radio the 2.4 to 2.485 GHz frequencies with newer devices having a lower power mode that is much more energy efficient and saves battery life of the devices. The communication area for Bluetooth is very limited and typically only considered a PAN (Personal Area Network) usually less than 100 meters, depending on the version of Bluetooth being used is forced to the range of the lower power device (Bluetooth.com/facts). Despite the limited range of Bluetooth it has the possibility of being at risk for crime.
Due to Bluetooth being found in a great many devices the opportunity to subvert and use it for nefarious purposes is always a concern. Older Bluetooth devices were designed with a fixed default passcode, typically “0000”. As one could imagine a default password isn’t the most secure and it eventually evolved, but the Bluetooth evolution hasn’t been lacking in pitfalls. Modern Bluetooth has been subject to multiple types of hacking like Bluejacking, Bluesnarfing and Bluebugging. Bluetooth hacking ranges from unsolicited messaging, creating backdoors to phones and even

...An Investigation of the Google Maps Application Chris Cobb CIS / 319 6/24/2013 Frank McMaye An Investigation of the Google Maps Application Google maps has changed the way people find a restaurant, get directions and even look at pictures of their house. This application has moved from the web to mobile devices and has adapted to the needs of their users. It has gone from just map software to a powerful application that is able to show traffic, show public transit routes, and act as portable GPS to give you directions if you have it installed on a mobile device. Google Maps Uses Google maps has evolved from a browser based map software to a useful mobile application. The application's main use would be as GPS direction software, when paired with a smart phone or other mobile device the application can track your location and give you directions to your desired destination. Recent updates to the mobile application now shows traffic volume on a street by street basis. Streets that have heavy traffic have a red line on the portion of that street that is backed up. Yellow lines denote medium traffic, and green lines denote light to no traffic. The use of color to denote traffic in an area make the application extremely easy to use and see quickly. Bluetooth

...LUETOOTH TECHNOLOGY ABSTRACT Bluetooth technology unplugs our digital peripherals and makes a cable clutter a thing of the past. In short, it is a wireless replacement for many of the cables we currently use to transmit voice and data signals. It is the result of the joint achievements of nine leading companies: 3COM, Lucent Technologies, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Motorola, Nokia, Toshiba, Ericsson, altogether known as the Blue Tooth Special Interest Group (SIG). The idea is to create a single wireless protocol to address the end-user problems arising from proliferation of various mobile devices. The Bluetooth specification is ideal for mobile professionals who need to link notebook computers, mobile phones, PDA’s , PIMs, digital cameras, and other hand-held devices to do business at home, on the road, or in the office. Governments worldwide regulate it, so it is possible to utilize the same standard wherever one travels. Bluetooth provides three low power modes to conserve battery life: sniff mode, hold mode, and park mode. It aims at low power consumption and provides security for both stationary and mobile devices. A Bluetooth chip (9mm x 9mm) takes the information normally carried by the cable, and transmits it at a special frequency to a receiver. Bluetooth radio modules use Gaussian Frequency Shift Keying (GFSK) for modulation. Blue Tooth employs an FHSS spreading technique, changing frequencies at a rate of 1600 times per second - 160 times the rate at which a wireless...

...1. Discuss where a computer stores its basic hardware settings, why it does so, and what some of those settings are. A computer stores its basic hardware settings in the ROM (read-only memory) it does this because it is non-volatile. Which means when the computer powers off the information on the Rom will stay. Unlike RAM (random access memory) which is volatile and gets emptied when the computer gets turned off. 2. Compare storage devices using four criteria: versatility, durability, speed, and capacity. Storage device do about the same thing but there are a lot of factors to look at for when u are looking for the best versatile storage u wouldn’t want to go with a hard disk because it can access data only form its fixed disk platters. Were as more versatile device like a dvd drive can access any DVDs, DVD movies, and CDS. Then u want to look at durability. Most storage device or even anything technological can be damaged if misused or mishandled so u want to find something that can hold up better. Like CDs and DVDs would be more durable than hard disks. Being able to access data is always important. Most storage devices people look are always looking for speed. Most devices take that into aspect like Hard disk, CD, DVD, Blu- ray, and solid state drives are all really fast compared to older technology’s like tape drives. Another huge factor in people buying a storage device is capacity. When someone looking for storage the more the better. The hard disk usual holds more...

Mobile Technology in Monitoring Patient Vital Signs

...Oluwadamilola O. Adeyemi Dr. Msthali CIS 500 November 16, 2012 In comparing and contrasting using mobile technology to the ageless standard of in patient visits and all the procedures handled within the office or hospital setting, vital signs have been measured frequently to access the condition of a patient. Since the days of Florence Nightingale who is the mother of nursing, the standard in health care has been that taking the patients vital signs has always been a hands on in person experience. This at many times has caused days of agony and drudgery as you would deal with the discomfort of having to sit for hours upon hours in an office field with coughing, sneezing, hacking, wheezing and nauseous individuals. Each visit leaves you feeling that at any time, you may leave this office visit in a worst condition than when you came in. The assessment and monitoring of patient vital signs has typically been looked upon as one of the most routine aspects of nursing care. Monitoring patient vital signs became so mundane that usually the responsibility of taking the vital signs, even though ordered by a physician would end up being handled by a lowly Patient Care Technician. While in the hospital, vital signs are monitored on a scheduled basis. This is only interrupted if there is a change in the patient’s condition, the worse the change, the greater the increase in scheduled vital sign monitoring. However, this can also be affected by nursing judgments which...

An economic analysis of a unit that projects what is on one’s laptop onto a television screen via wifi or blue tooth and allows the user to in effect use their television screen as their monitor will be proposed. Statements about market structure and the elasticity of demand for the product will be covered. Hypothetical data, based on similar real world products to estimate fixed and variable costs will be presented. According to Wang and Zheng (2012), the relationship between the market structure’s distinctions and production structure’s parameters can have a significant effect on an organization’s profit. Correctly identifying the market structure is an integral step in pricing and selling a product. The market structure for the unit described above is a purely competitive market structure. A purely competitive market structure’s characteristics include but are not limited to the following: perfectly elastic demand at the pre-determined price is dictated by market supply, members of this market structure are price takers, and any additional units sold above the constant product’s price will add profit to firm’s total revenue. Pricing will relate to the elasticity of the product due to the demand being dependent on price. According to Bolton (1989), price elasticities...

Google Glass is defined as a wearable computer that has a optical head-mounted display. The Google Glass displays information like a smart phone would, but in a hand free format, that also communicates with the internet via voice commands. Google Glass can be described as having Blue-tooth, Wi-Fi microphone, GPS, speakers, and a camera. The Google Glass comes with or without frames in the colors of charcoal, tangerine, shale, cotton, and sky, and developers are working on integrating prescription frames in them for a fee. Google Glass isn't available for purchase yet, but for a fee of $1,500 before taxes you can be placed on a list if a spot opens up. Google Glass for me would work great in my personal and work life. In my daily activities in personal life I would be able to capture tons of pictures as I do now, and record videos. The Google Glass would help me out by allowing my hand to be free while I'm doing something. I would be able to capture special moments without reaching in my purse to find my phone, and possibly missing the moment. I would have the time there available on the glass, seeing as I don't wear a watch. It can also give me directions while I’m driving so I won't have to look at the GPS. I can speak and send messages to friends and family without texting while driving...
