Weightlifting is an important part for many sports such as basketball, football, and even tennis. Many people who play football lift weight nearly every day. The football season is broken up into 3 parts; off season, in season and Transition. A bodybuilder's primary goal is to build size and definition through lifting weights. But contrary to popular belief, larger muscles are not always stronger or more powerful muscles not only that, too much bulk will reduce your speed, strength and quickness. When most non-professional athletes visit the weight room, what exercises do they do? They might throw in a few drop sets or super sets for good measure and they stick to traditional exercises like the bench press and dumbbell curls. Football players …show more content…
A combination of a vast schedule of weight training, cardiovascular drills, plyometric and proper nutrition would help you improve your performance on the field. The main objective of weight training during the off season is to develop a better football body than last season. If you don't have the right size and strength optimal for all football players, then you don't have the basic needs and it would be almost impossible to be a great football player on the field, especially with a size and strength disadvantage. Many People can conclude that strength and strength training, especially in the legs and trunk, are important for footballers who want to improve kick performance and reduce the risk of injury. To increase general strength, a workout consisting of leg press, leg extensions, leg curls, bench press, lateral pull downs, abdominal and lower back exercises, would be excellent. This can be done with multi-gym equipment, which is also safe and easy to …show more content…
People showed wthat the absolute maximum speed shown during play was one of the parameters that differentiated elite players from those of lesser standard. They found that professionals were significantly quicker than amateurs over 10 meters, 20 meters and 30 meters. The acceleration difference to 10m was especially significant. This suggests that better players need better acceleration and maximum speed to play at a higher level. The 30 meter speed was similar for the German athletes no matter of position. The training schedules of footballers must therefore show this need for good acceleration and maximum speed. Football players need to develop the body of a sprinter by doing various leg workouts in the gym to maintain a great lower body that is in proportionate to their body weight. I have already mentioned the benefit of maximum leg training with heavy resistances for developing acceleration and speed. This once a week routine was still proven to be better for the player.
