It is apparent within chapter 8 that Austen has undertaken many different methods to portray characters in certain ways. One method Austen has used to make the novel more rooted to females is the use of dialogue and description. When Elizabeth leaves the room, “Miss Bingley begins abusing her” stating that her “manners were pronounced to be very bad indeed” and describing her as having a “mixture of pride and impertinence”.
