"Bravery is the capacity to perform properly even when scared half to death,” Omar N Bradley. This demonstrates that brave people do what is right, even though they are scared. Rikki Tikki had the courage to be about to fight against three snakes. Even though he knew that he could die from going against them. He was going to try his best to protect all his friends and creatures in the garden. The author hooked the readers by emphasizing the theme which is bravery.

Rikki Tikki is a courageous character in this story. The text states “clenched on her tail and he went down with her and very few mongooses, however wise and old they may not, care to follow a cobra into its hole.” (Para 96) Since, Rikki Tikki knew that if he did not follow her into the hole that she could still come back to kill him. He had to find his courage so that he could save himself and all his friends. The text also states “he was doing a much more dangerous thing than fighting Nag, for Karait is so small and can turn so quickly that unless Rikki bit him close to the back of the head.” (Para 33) For instance, he knows that he can even get killed by fighting Kariat. For example,"Nagaina spun clear round, forgetting everything for the sake of the one egg.” (Para 21) Nagaina forget everything for her one egg. Therefore, It means a lot to her since it would be her only baby and he would replace Nag. The text also states that, “Give me the last of my eggs, and I will go Nagina away and never come back.” (Para 93) Nagina was trying to convince Rikki Tikki to give her the egg even though it meant letting Rikki Tikki live. This is because she is giving up her pride just to be able to keep her one egg. This displays that Nagina is a caring character in the story Rikki Tikki
