Pampanga’s Best Incorporated
This is a true-to-life story of a reputable family enterprise that emerged from humble beginnings about four decades ago; a simple home industry that has grown through the years into a multi-million peso corporation which is nationally known today as Pampanga’s Best, Incorporated. Attribute this success to the ingenuity, hard work, patience and a lot of sacrifices of a woman and her supportive husband, coupled with her abiding faith that works, to an Almighty and Eternal Loving God. When Mrs. Lolita O. Hizon, the woman, was asked by a newspaperman in an interview on “what she thinks is the secret behind her success”, she said, “I believe it is more of a divine plan; in other words, providential. All these years, I see as a visible hand guiding us always for a purpose. I would say it is Divine Providence-that is the secret”.

Ever optimistic and persevering, the couple, inspite all the loss and sufferings brought about the unfortunate calamities of the past decades, without fret and complaint saw beyond them an opportunity. With Mrs. Hizon’s ring as collateral, they borrowed P3,000.00 from a local savings bank to put an extension of their kitchen at Dolores Homesite to be used as a place for a new kind of pork processing, which Mrs. Hizon had discovered and experimented on, to improved “tapa processing”, making an edge over other competitors. She devised a formula of her own, which involved the right kind of mixture, temperature and timing. With about five kilos of meat for a start, she sold her finished products at first, to butchers of the San Fernando Public Market who in turn disposed it to their customers. Thus, the sweet-ham tasting product caught the market and order for it continued coming in. Mrs. Hizon devised a packaging system with the name “Pampanga’s Best” vividly printed on the label with the word “TOCINO” which she herself derived from the Spanish word, meaning “sweet tasting meat”. The product “TOCINO” became a by word in every Filipino household which other meat processing firms have adopted for their products.

Today, Pampanga’s Best, Inc., which started with a small borrowed capital, with Mrs. Hizon’s Industriousness, intelligence, intuition and business acumen, is now a multi-million family enterprise, with around 1000 employees whose stockholder consist of the couple and their twelve children. Whose vision is to have a world class image dedicated to serve the Filipino with innovative products and services by adapting the best technology, quality, customer service and value, with passion towards service quality and customer empowerment making “Pampanga’s Best, Inc.” truly the “BEST”.

C. Cultural Context
Kapampangans are well known for their culinary creations. Well known food products range from the ordinary to the exotic. Pampanga’s Best is one of the known meat brands of the country producing Kapampangan favorites such as pork, chicken, tocino, beef tapa, hotdogs and longanizas (Philippine- style sausages and cured meats).
Ms. Lolita Hizon the woman behind the success of Pampanga’s Best revised the traditional Capampangan pindang(fermented pork), causing the pork to acquire that unique salty-sweet taste that we have all come to love. She called it tocino, derived from a Spanish delicacy that is sweet. Eventually, she refined the formula and the processing procedures that caused the birth of Pampanga’s Best Tocino the original version of what has now become a national favorite.
D. Historical Context
The story goes that Mrs. Lolita O. Hizon’s neighbor, a meat vendor, had some unsold pork at the end of a market day and, not wanting to let these spoil, asked Mrs. Hizon’s help in cooking them. Mrs. Hizon came up with a formula to cure the meat; she refined the formula and the processing procedures that caused the birth of Pampanga’s Best Tocino the original version of what has now become a national favorite. So, what started out as just a neighborly gesture to help a friend has turned out to be the cornerstone of a business and a staple item on the Filipino breakfast table. When Mrs. Lolita O. Hizon, is asked what she thinks is the reason behind her success, she says, "I believe it is more of a divine plan. All these years, I see a visible hand guiding us always for a purpose. I would say it is Divine Providence-that is the secret".
Today, Pampanga's Best, Inc. is a multi-million meat processing company, operated and owned by the couple, Mr. Angelo D. Hizon Jr. and Mrs. Lolita O. Hizon, and their twelve children. It manufactures eleven core products Tocino, Hotdogs, Longaniza, Ham, Bacon, Tapa, Burger Patties, Corned Beef, Embotido, Barbecue, and Chicken Nuggets, which are distributed and sold by our partners nationwide.
Sincere to its motto, " Always the best from Pampanga’s BEST", the company puts prominence on the importance of high quality throughout its more than 40 years in the business, creating customer value, satisfaction, and loyalty. Also, it acquired the AAA Category, the highest level for a manufacturing plant, from the National Meat Inspection Service.
Consumers’ taste for something new is endless, which leads to the development of new products based on the consumers’ preference and his environment. With the expertise and creativity of its Research and Development Team, the company is able to cater to the different needs and demands of the consumers.

Food industry is a complex, global collective of diverse businesses that supply much food and food energy consumed by the people.
