While recent studies show that workplace bullying is considered to be one of the leading causes of depression (Takaki et al. 2010), there has been very little research to show that by standing to bullying behavior has cause symptoms of depression. Reports have shown that both physicians and nurses have become frequent targets of workplace bullying behavior such as; sexual harassment, intimidation, emotional abuse, and other forms of bullying behavior. Researchers obtained an extensive amount of data from the 5th European Working Condition Survey to conduct this study. A subsample of 284 healthcare workers was chosen to participate. Some of the participants were members of the International Standard Classification of Occupation (ISCO-8) subgroup 22. These groups were considered to be professional medical doctors, nurses, dentists, physiotherapist and other healthcare professionals. In this study, the researchers used an empirical logistic regression analysis to evaluate the cause of workplace bullying among healthcare workers. The results of this study revealed that 41.2% of healthcare professionals reported that they have been victims of workplace bullying (n=117), and 58 in total reported that they have never experienced any type of abusive behavior in the workplace (n=167). Some researchers have studied and identified the cause of persistent inequality in the workplace among Whites, African Americans, and Latinos (Farley, 1996). For example; when bullying turns into harassment, sabotaging, excluding or isolating a person or particular group of people socially, or denial of access to a particular position on the basis of a person’s race or ethnicity, it is considered discrimination. Data was collected from self-report discrimination methodology in which researchers used an empirical meta-analysis to evaluate the cause of workplace injustice, discrimination, bullying behavior, abuse and other forms of harassments among different groups in the workplace. The target population for this study consisted of a sample of African Americans, and Latino workers. The results of this study revealed that minority workers experience frequent acts of workplace injustice; for example, 85% of the workers including Latinos, and African American workers reported that they have experienced the effect of being bullied discriminated against and other forms of harassments in the workplace. Further studies reveal that African Americans reported the highest levels of emotional effects to acts of discrimination, bullying, and other forms of harassment compared to other groups (Fox & Stallworth, 2005). An annotated bibliography is a useful way to start a research project because it asks you to collect and summarize sources that you might use later in a research paper. Collecting and summarizing sources early in the research process helps you narrow your research topic. The bibliography can also help you evaluate the possible usefulness of source material for later use in a paper. This handout is designed to show you how to create an annotated bibliography. Specifically, it will guide you through the process of creating an annotated bibliography by 1) describing in general terms the meaning of the words “annotated bibliography,” 2) explaining in general terms how to write an annotated bibliography, and 3) offering an example of what an annotated bibliography could look like. However, it is important to note that individual instructors may have different requirements for their annotated bibliography assignments. Please check with your teacher or assignment sheet BEFORE following the advice in this handout. What is an Annotated Bibliography? If you have been assigned to write an annotated bibliography, you might be confused about what the words "annotated" and "bibliography" mean. ...an Annotated Bibliography? An annotated bibliography is a list of citations to books, articles, and documents on a related topic. Each citation is followed by a brief (30150 word) descriptive paragraph. The purpose of the annotation is to critically evaluate the relevance, accuracy, and quality of the sources you have cited and help other researchers locate valuable information. Steps in Creating an Annotated Bibliography: 1. Locate books, periodicals, and other sources that may contain information on your topic. 2. Critically examine the items. For a book, scan the jacket, introduction, table of contents and index. For an article, carefully review the abstract and main headings in the text. 3. After the initial review, select those works that provide useful information/perspectives on your topic. 4. Create an APA style reference entry for each item. 5. Immediately below the reference entry compose a concise paragraph that summarizes the central theme and scope of each book, article, film, essay, website, government report, etc. Typically, an annotation includes: 1 o information on the authority or background of the author 2 o a description of the intended audience for the work 3 o a comparison/contrast of the usefulness of this work with other items cited in the bibliography 4 o information that you discovered that would help another researcher investigating the same topic. Step 3: Carefully read and annotate your researched articles. Step 4: Submit annotated bibliographies for each article. Annotations should summarize points made in the article and analysis of the ideas. In addition, you need to identify how specific ideas can be useful to you for writing your research. What points are made that can help support your views? ...Example An Annotated Bibliography for Romeo and Juliet · The student writing this Annotated Bibliography is doing their essay on the performance aspects of the play. Therefore their annotations will deal with how the material is useful in that area. The annotations in this example are not 150 words but yours MUST be. You would be expected to add such items as useful quotes, passages etc. that you could use in your essay as support for your thesis. Davis, Lloyd. “’Death-Marked Love’: Desire and Presence in Romeo and Juliet.” Shakespeare Survey 49 (1996): 57-67. Knowing that the love of Romeo and Juliet will end in tragedy from the onset of the play, it is how the events of the play lead to the tragedy that is the essence of the play. Davis explores the darkness and deceit connected with desire and love. Holmer, Joan Ozark. “’Draw if you be men’: Saviolo’s Significance in Romeo and Juliet.” Shakespeare Quarterly 45.2 (1994): 163-189. The fencing material in the play is probably derived from the fencing manual of Saviolo, Vincentio Saviolo his Practise. Salviolo’s ideal view that “condemns male quarrelsomeness as irrational when it pursues personal revenge rather than godly truth and justice” is a source for both tragic and comic elements in the play (189). Levin, Harry. “Form and Formality in Romeo and Juliet.” Shakespeare Quarterly 11.1 (1960): 3-11. Levin points to the unconventionality of the play. Such scenes include the eavesdropping...

...will discuss plagiarism and judge an argument. Look at the following points before attempting the assessment. You have just been given an assignment to write an annotated bibliography. Before you begin, you need to know what exactly an annotated bibliography is and how to get started. First, what is an annotation? An annotation is more than just a brief summary of an article, book, Web site or other type of publication. An annotation should give enough information to make a reader decide whether to read the complete work. In other words, if the reader were exploring the same topic as you, is this material useful and if so, why? How is an annotation different from an abstract? While an abstract also summarizes an article, book, Web site or other type of publication, it is purely descriptive. Although annotations can be descriptive, they also include distinctive features about an item. Annotations can be evaluative and critical as we will see when we look at the two major types of annotations. What is an annotated bibliography? An annotated bibliography is an organized list of sources (like a reference list). It differs from a straightforward bibliography in that each reference is followed by a paragraph length annotation, usually 100–200 words in length. Depending on the assignment, an annotated bibliography might have different purposes: * Provide a literature review on a particular subject * Help to formulate a thesis on a subject * Demonstrate the research...
