PSYCH Oyster Bar and Brew Pub

Summary
PSYCH will be located in Richland, WA near the Columbia River. It will be a relaxing and enjoyable Oyster Bar and Brew Pub, funded by private investors, with an Owner / Manager Type of organizational structure. There will be a full service, children friendly restaurant, along with a full service bar. The restaurant will primarily focus on oysters and the heart of the bar will be micro brews. We feel strongly about supporting our local communities, which is why all of our oysters and a vast majority of our microbrews will either be brewed or farmed right here in Washington State. The purpose behind PSYCH is to give people a place where they can indulge themselves with good food and good beer because they work hard and deserve it. We will make is a priority to promote a positive message within the community and sponsor local causes and charities when we can.

Mission
“It is our priority at PSYCH to ensure that each guest receives prompt, professional, and friendly service. We take great pride in keeping our property clean and professional, both inside and out. Our customers can be confident that they will receive food and drinks that are made using the highest of standards when it comes to quality and freshness. It is also paramount that all employees are able to work in an environment that is friendly, cooperative and rewarding.”

Food
Our oysters will be of the highest quality and will be delivered daily to ensure that our customers receive only the freshest oysters. We will specialize in two different types of oysters, Olympia and Pacific. You can have them served raw, steamed, or on the half-shell. Olympia oysters are unique because they are harvested in Olympia, Washington and no where else. Olympia Oysters are distinctively sweet and metallic with a slight celery-salt flavor and are considered a Pacific Northwest delicacy. The only drawback to these oysters is that they are much smaller than the pacific version, but what they lack in size they make up for in flavor. Our Pacific oysters are directly from the unspoiled waters of the Pacific Ocean and are perfect for grilling on the half-shell. We serve all of our oysters with a side of butter and offer hot sauce on the side for those with a taste for the spicier foods. Our oysters will allow you to experience the coastal cuisine without ever leaving home and for those guests that aren’t oyster lovers our menu will also include a variety of classic burgers and sandwiches.

Drinks
Although our oysters are at the forefront of our restaurant we will have a full service bar specializing in microbrews. We want to convey to potential customers that our microbrews are just as interesting and inviting as our oysters. We will carry on average about 10-15 different types of microbrews from Washington State, crafted in breweries such as Big Al Brewing, Fish Brewing Company, and Yakima Brewing just to name a few. We will continue to update and change our stock as new and seasonal micro brews are crafted, ensuring a well rounded and exciting menu. We will also offer a brew sampler of specifically selected micro brews for our more adventurous customers so that they can experience a variety of different tastes before selecting their favorite.

Technology
A Cloud-Based Point of Sale System (POS) called Breadcrumb will be used to manage most aspects of the restaurant. Breadcrumb is our top choice because it has been designed specifically for the restaurant industry; it will allow us to split checks, manage table zones, and accept payments all through the same system. Each employee will have their own sign in ID that they can use to clock-in/out and to take orders. We will be able to accept cash or credit cards, keep track of tips, and automatically send orders to the kitchen and bar. All of these services will help to prevent unintentional mistakes by employees, decreasing down time at registers and more efficiently moving customers in and out of the restaurant.

Using Breadcrumb will also save us time and money because there is no need to purchase individual hardware components. When you order the Breadcrumb package (called Breadbox) you receive all of the necessary supplies for set-up and operation. These items include: printers, iPad/s, cash drawers, routers, switches, cables, and swipes for credit cards. And to top it off Breadcrumb also includes a 24/7 support hotline with their package.

We will start with a 2 IPOD setup, which will generate a cost of $199 a month, excluding the initial cost of equipment needed for set-up. This is well worth the cost because of the diverse functionality we will have with software and IPODs, allowing us to save on money on labor. Not only will we be able to monitor the day-to-day transactions using this software, but we will also be able to identify popular items, monitor stock inventories, perform basic accounting functions, and even place supplier orders. Additionally, we will also have the ability to monitor these activities away from the restaurant. Although there are restaurants across the country using this technology it is somewhat new to the Tri-City area. We believe that using this technology will greatly improve customer satisfaction by ensuring fresh products and improving order efficiency.
Marketing

Advertising for PSYCH will begin about a month or so prior to the initial opening in order to get the word out and hopefully build some anticipation within the local community. We will focus are advertising on a local demographic by using news papers like the Tri-City Herald and also websites like www.visittri-cities.com, www.urbanspoon.com, www.yelp.com, and www.facebook.com. Advertising on websites like Facebook has become a very efficient tool in today’s market place because you can reach out and target specific demographics based on such things as age, sex, interests, relationship status, etc. By having all of this information at our fingertips we will be able to create ads that are specifically catered to different segments of our ideal target market, rather than a general ad intended for all audiences as you would likely see in the news paper.

Once open, we will continue to advertise through Face book, The Tri-City Herald, and various websites. We will update our ads to announce new microbrews, changes in our menu, and events we are sponsoring. With our new ads we will continue to focus on specific demographics we feel we need to target to expand our customer base as well as those we have identified to be our most recurring customers. Because of the confidence we have in our products we feel we will be able to rely a great deal on word of mouth advertising, which can be very effective. Even after we are established and our name is strong within the community we will still continue support local community events for good causes because we feel it is important to promote good food and culture.

Using Public Transport or Private Car?.Doc

...Some people use public transportation (buses and subways) to get around a city. Others use private cars. Which do you prefer? Support your answer with specific reasons and examples. You should write at least 250 words.  These days, more and more people use their private car to get around a city. It leads more heavy traffic jam and pollution. These problems often occur in modern cities. So in my opinion I prefer using public transportation to private cars. First of all, using public transportation is very economical. If you have your own car, you have to pay a lot of money for service, gas, repair, and insurance. Beside that you only have to give driver a small amount of money when you take a buses or subways. You also do not mind to find a place for parking. In addition, using public transportation would be better for the environment and people’s health as well. A private car can only fit five passengers but on the other side, a bus or subway can fit about fifty people. So more people use public transportation can reduce pollution because there are less car driving on the road, there are fewer fumes and also less traffic jam. As we know carbon dioxide that released from the cars can make harm to health of people. Furthermore travelling by buses or subways you are not under high pressure of driving. You can sleep, read book or listen to music when you travel by public transportation. On the other hand, you can waste much time to wait for buses or subways or you have to...
