Zara Business Case
Zara’s workers are very sufficient in delivering the product to the customer because they are updating the existing garments only in two weeks, there are more fashionable clothes in short time (from runway to store), they are having the latest fashion it in store in five weeks and they are having a just in time production in order to shorten the time from order to arrival. In addition Europe can get the item order within 24 hours, while Asian and American store can get the item order under 48 hours. This is how evident Classical Management Approach at Zara International. Zara’s success is as much a result of its history and location, as of its counter-intuitive business strategies. Zara is riding two of the winning retail trends-being in fashion and low prices-and making a very effective combination out of it. Design and product development is a highly people-intensive process. Information and communications technology is at the heart of Zara’s business. Close watch on trends & buying behavior, quick decisions, inventory Control and distribution are some of the evident ways of Behavioral Management Approach at Zara International.

Zara has 200 designers to help to keep up with the latest fashion. Designers will design the clothes, then Inditex provide the garments needed in the design and the finished garments is made in the factory will be handed over to the distribution center and the distribution center will distribute the product to the branches. Store manager have an authorization to reordering hot items in less than an hour. Zara has used just in time production in order to ensure the branches received the garments in time. Inditex controls design, production, distribution, and retail sales to optimize the flow goods without having to share profits with wholesalers or intermediary partners. The inventory reporting helps the manager in organizing their stocks and their inventory can be easily seen in their database. Through their database, they can see which is the hottest item and they can reorder hot items in less than hours. These are the practices of Zara, which brings their business to a success.

I would assign Frederick Taylor to be Zara International’s consultant because he believed that there is one “best” way to perform any tasks and that is by develop a science for each job, by hiring workers with the right ability, by training and motivating workers and by supporting workers through planning and assisting with science jobs. Frederick Taylor believed in finding “maximum prosperity for the employer…and the employee” by identifying the most efficient way to perform tasks. Through his advice Zara will have an improvement particularly with the performance of its employees, because if you want to have a successful company you must learn how to trust, to motivate and to train your employees.
