Dear Parents:

In the line with celebration of “Family week” we cordially inviting you to attend the program we have prepared for you and your family. We are highlighting the program with a mass to be officiated by Rev. Martin O. Noriendo, Parish Priest of Bunlo, Bocaue, Bulacan. Father Noriendo is involve in manpower and youth development from the past few years.

After the mass, he will be meeting parents and spend time to answer their questions regarding the behavior of their children. We will appreciate it if you can attend this gathering which we have prepared especially for you and your family.

Below is an article which we have taken from the September issue of the Philippines Panorama written by Benny Luzentales and Christina Villanueva which we think might be very helpful in bringing up your children. Kindly bring this letter with you when you attend the meeting because this will be discussed by some experts in family planning and children behavior.

HOW TO PRODUCE SUPPER BRIGHT KIDS

1. Let your child know and feel you are interested in him. The parent’s attitude towards his child’s work in school, his willingness to help, his interest and his enthusiasmplay a vital role in the child’s success.
2. An important key is books. It is a great aspiration for the child to live in a home where locks are held esteem to where he sees books being bought, borrowed, loaned, read, discussed, brought from the library returned to the library.
3. Happiness is a vital ingredient of success. Various studies and researchers have proven that if it is difficult, if not, impossible, for an unhappy, anxious child to perform well in school. Try to be sure that the child approaches his school work in a happy frame of mind –relaxed, rested and with a sense of well being.
4. Provide the child with an adequate place to study. If you can equip your child with a place to study that is quiet and where interruptions and distractions are held to a minimum, you will help him substantially.
5. Help the child acquire sound habits. Help him settle on a regular study period and stick to it. Not only will it help him but stay in the same place.
6. Increase the child’s interest in learning. A broad foundation of general knowledge about the world greatly improves the child’s chance for success in school. And, of course, as the horizons of a child expands, his curiosity increase and his questions multiply.
7. Teach the child to use reference books. Educators refer to a child’s ability to get answer from books quickly, efficiently and accurately as reference kill.
8. Help the child read better. A leading educator suggest the following three-step approach in a printed assignments. First, ask the child to skim through the whole assignment as quickly as possible-merely for the purpose of getting a general idea of its content. Ask him to give the assignment a second skimming-this time watching for important ideas and striving for gasp of the author’s total meaning.
9. Help the child believe in himself. What helps a child’s self-confidence? Authorities in child psychology find children whose parents believe in them strongly inclined to believe in themselves.
10. Help the child learn to listen. A small amount of preparation perhaps merely skimming through the upcoming lesson in the textbooks may not only save hours of cumbersome review but can also make listening in class a much easier job.
11. Help the child write legibly and fast. In short in daily practices sessions. Ask the child to copy a sentence or two form a printed text. In his first run-through urge him to pay careful attention to what he is writing and how he is writing it.
12. Help the child learn to take tests. When a test paper is placed before the child, he should review the whole thing quickly. He should take note of the questions and decide how much time he is going to complete each one.

We hope to see you at the gathering of “Family Week”.

Sincerely yours,

Subject: First Oxygen Bar in RP Opens

Here is good news for you!

The country’s first oxygen bar has opened its doors to provide weary Metro Manilans an alternative to tea, coffee, and other beverages and cope with the stresses of city life.

Richarest G. Velasco, pioneer of oxygen bar and daughter of Filipino aroma therapistMadeleine G. Velasco, said the oxygen bar, like its counterparts in Europe and America, aims to give clients a quick supply of 99 percent pure oxygen to make up for its depletion caused by pollution.

A recent study by the Asian development bank showed that Metro Manila, next to Mexico City is the worst polluted city in the world, and such level of environment degradation, it is difficult to find a source of pure and clean oxygen.

Velasco said that a 20minute treatment at oxygen bar provide the same amount of fresh air a person receives if he was sitting in an untouched forest, and breath of such unpolluted pure oxygen does many wonders to the body, mind and soul.

The advent of oxygen therapy stems from the findings of Dr. Otto Warburg, twice Nobel Prize laureate, who proved that cancer cannot grow on a high-oxygen environment. His research showed that cancer cannot grow on a high oxygen environment. His research showed that when a cell is denied 60 percent of its normal requirement of oxygen, it becomes susceptible to cancer. Hence, the greater the oxygen level in the body, the more resistant it becomes to viruses and harmful bacteria.

Depending on ones condition, anyone choose from aromatherapy to compliment of therapeutic benefits of oxygen intake.

The oxygen bar is at the premises of the Aromatherapy Center of Garden Bldg. In Greenbelt Park, Makati City. The sooner you come to our oxygen bar, the better for your health. Always remember the adage “ An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.”

Sincerely yours,

...Business Letters A business letter is more formal than a personal letter. It should have a margin of at least one inch on all four edges. It is always written on 8½"x11" (or metric equivalent) unlined stationery. There are sixparts to a business letter. 1. The Heading. This contains the return address (usually two or three lines) with the date on the last line. Sometimes it may be necessary to include a line after the address and before the date for a phone number, fax number, E-mail address, or something similar. Often a line is skipped between the address and date. That should always be done if the heading is next to the left margin. (See Business Letter Styles.) It is not necessary to type the return address if you are using stationery with the return address already imprinted. Always include the date. 2. The Inside Address. This is the address you are sending your letter to. Make it as complete as possible. Include titles and names if you know them. This is always on the left margin. If an 8½" x 11" paper is folded in thirds to fit in a standard 9" business envelope, the inside address can appear through the window in the envelope. An inside address also helps the recipient route the letter properly and can help should the envelope be damaged and the address become unreadable. Skip a line after the heading before the inside address. Skip another line after the inside address before the greeting. 3. The Greeting. Also called the salutation. The greeting in a business...

Business Letters

...Technical Writing/Business Communications/Letters Professional and Technical Writing/Business Communications/Letters Business Letters Business letters are written messages to a person or group within a professional setting. Business letters are used when the writer would like to be formal and professional. Letters may vary in length depending on the writer's objective, purpose, and message of the letter. The letter can address anyone including, but not limited to: clients and customers, managers, agencies, suppliers, and other business personnel or organizations. It is important to remember that any business letter is a legal document between the interested parties. These documents can be held for up to seven years, so it is important that all information is honest and legitimate. The Difference Between a Business letter and other letters The main thing that differentiates a business letter from other letters is that a business letter is a legal document. The writer can be held liable for anything written in the letter. For example, if it is stated that a project will be completed by a certain date in a business letter, the project legally must be completed by that date. However, if the project can't be completed by that date, another letter can be written stating that the project is behind schedule and why. For this reason, business letters must be written differently than letters used for personal use. A business letter is...

...Writing a standard business letter –part 2 The UK format is similar to US full block format, with these key differences for UK letters: * The return address is right-aligned * The date is written as “15th May 2008” not “May 15, 2008” * A comma, not a colon, follows the recipients’ name * The subject (if included) is centred In the UK, a standard business letter looks like this: Just as with the US examples, I’ll break the letter down into the main elements, working from the top to the bottom. Your Address Your address, also known as the “return address”, comes first (leave this off if you’re using letter-headed paper). 123 Old Road Newtown London SW1 3AA Your return address should be right-justified. The Date Directly beneath this, the date on which the letter was written: 15th May 2008 In the UK, the day comes before the month, and it is fine to put “st”, “nd” or “th” after the day’s date, eg. “15th” “1st” or “2nd”. You can position the date on the right or on the left of your letter. Recipent’s name and address Beneath this, you should put the recipient’s name and address, just as it would appear on the envelope. If you’re using a window envelope, make sure it’ll show through when the paper is inserted. The recipient’s name and address should be positioned on the left-hand side. The Greeting After their address, you should leave a line’s space then put “Dear Mr Jones”, “Dear Bob” or “Dear Sir/Madam” as appropriate. Follow this with a comma...
