Business Requirements and IS Proposal
Introduction
Riordan Manufacturing is an international company that manufactures plastic. In 1991, Dr. Riordan, a chemistry professor, focused on processing polymers into strong plastic substrates. A year later he acquired a fan manufacturing plant in Pontiac, MI. After growth of the production of plastic containers, Riordan changed the company name to “Riordan Manufacturing, Inc. The company has four locations but research for Riordan Manufacturing Inc. takes place in San Jose, which is the corporate headquarters. One product developed by Riordan includes plastic beverage containers produced in Albany, Georgia. The organization has a need for both internal and external audits on a monthly basis. It is challenging to meet the terms of the new government reporting requisites. The current system is aging and requires constant manual intervention to update. Team B will be elaborating on how the enhancement of the current computer systems will make Riordan Manufacturing Inc. more efficient by coming up with a proposed solution of implementation.
Business requirements: How to use computer system utilization to become more efficient
Riordan Manufacturing currently remains at a competitive level of operations and an industry leader in plastic injection molding (University of Phoenix, 2011). However, the company requires a technology makeover. The present system is aging, and requires constant manual intervention to update. These systems are separate standalone systems with limited integration between each other among the various plants of operations. The outdated information system lacks system flexibility to handle continual business changes and the speed to process data in a timely and reliable

Business Proposal vs Research

...Formal Research vs Business Proposal Latasha Jenkins MGT 600-1102A-06 Dr. Hal Graff May 1, 2011 Abstract In this paper, I will compare formal research and business proposals and maintain that formal research is academic in nature while a business proposal has a more practical orientation to it. I will also discuss the most important difference between formal research and business proposals is that formal research has no financial implications while financial implications are the most important characteristics of business proposals. I will also point out that the main objective of a business proposal is to identify a need which must be addressed in order to generate either financial savings or greater revenue, while such financial implications are not relevant in formal research. Formal research is not concerned with generating findings that are practicable. I have concluded that formal research generates a wide variety of findings that may be made applicable in a wide variety of contexts. Further, I also noted that the advantage of business proposals is that they contextualize the findings from formal research in an existing organizational structure. Business Proposal vs Formal Research 1. Introduction Formal research basically is a systematic and organized effort to investigate a specific problem or test a hypothesis. The goal here is to find answers to the issues that concern managers at work which is done in a controlled environment...

...Unit 2 Need identification The Bank of Boston Official from the Bank of Boston recently discuss how the firm create a effective, all encompassing request for proposal. Kevin Roden, director of consumer banking system, George Swick, project manager of retail workstation infrastructure, indicate that their focus is on business requirements. They conduct a cost-benefit analysis and examine available products and services only after they ensure that a project will meet business requirements. If the project does not directly support the business, it is not pursued. The Bank of Boston had a goal: improve sale and customer service and increase the range of products, such as mutual funds and small business loans, in the bank’s branches. Given their resources and availability resources, they found that it would be more cost effective to outsource much of the work. So they developed two comprehensive requests for proposal (RFPs). The first was for procurement, and installation of the system. The second was for support and maintenance. There were 11 responses to the two RFPs, which were reviewed by more than twenty of various technology and business committees within the bank. IBM and Anderson Consulting were chosen to help with the procurement, deployment, and installation, and IBM was chosen to help with the support and maintenance. The Bank of Boston Branches will be getting a complete facelift: new client/server-based local area net works, new customer service and sales applications...

Bgmt 339 Option 1 Group Project

...Purpose of this document: In order to determine which submitted proposals represent the best overall value, a comprehensive and thorough evaluation of each is required. In considering the concept of ‘best value’, an approach that assesses many relevant factors from a holistic perspective is required and largely mandated by the Federal Government. This method of evaluating many primary factors and sub-factors increases the odds that the government agency will match successful contract bidders with the contracts that they are most qualified for, based on experience, capabilities, and a proven track record. For the purpose of this discussion, the group was tasked with identifying three sub-factors for four primary evaluation factors that were pre-determined. The primary evaluation factors that were considered in support of the program management solicitation project are as follows: 1) Corporate Experience; 2) Past Performance; 3) Management Approach; and 4) Technical Approach. C. Summarized table of Evaluation Factors and Sub-factors: The table below represents a summarized table of the sub-factors that have been assigned to each of the pre-determined primary evaluation factors. Evaluation Factor #1: CORPORATE EXPERIENCE This evaluation factor assesses the experience that a bidder is likely to add to the solicited project. The experience of the bidder should be commensurate, or similar to the requirements of the contract. Listing of Relevant Sub-factors Summation of...

Technical and Cost or Price Evaluations and Price Reasonableness

...on the requirement. This requirement has received adequate competition and will use a competitive range to increase the competitiveness of offeror’s proposals through negotiations. In determining price reasonableness, it will be critical to analyze the different methods of price analysis and determine if any benefit will arise from the use of these methods. Technical Evaluations The FAR expresses the government’s objective is to provide the best value product or service for customers, while maintaining the public’s trust and fulfilling policy objectives (Compton, 2010). “Proposing vendors are entitled to fair and impartial treatment in the source selection process, and they have a right to unbiased award decisions” (Compton, 2010, p. 142). Fair and impartial treatment is achieved in technical evaluations, by ensuring that technical proposals are evaluated in accordance with the evaluation criteria and requirements stated in Section M of the solicitation. Integrity and Fairness The Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 1.102-2(c)(3), states that “The Government shall exercise discretion, use sound business judgment, and comply with applicable laws and regulations in dealing with contractors and prospective contractors” (Broaddus, 2011). There are many rules and regulations that are followed to maintain acquisition integrity and fairness. It is the role of the Contracting Officer (CO) to debrief the evaluation team on the following subjects once proposals are received: ...
