Can Cell Phones Be Educational at School? Have you ever wondered why schools don't allow students to have phones, but teachers can use their phones? Most schools only allow students to have phones in school if they are turned off and in the locker, but many people want to change that, even teachers. Although phones may be distracting for students, phones should be implemented because students can download practical applications on them and there is convenient access to instant communication. Cell phones are useful because they have many helpful applications that can be downloaded (Leyden). One of the many tasks it can carry out is acting as a graphing calculator (Leyden). It ends up saving you hundreds of dollars and a lot of space. A dictionary

Cell Phones in School

...Cell phones should be allowed to be used in school to support education. They should have cell phones in school because if you need to use the internet to look up a definition or to help them with work they can use their phone.(debate.org) Cell Phones are A Distraction We should not bring cell phones to school. My reasoning behind this is because cell phones are an additional distraction in the classroom. With many cell phones capable of not only calling others, but also texting, playing games, surfing the web, and taking pictures a cell phone contains many functions to get distracted with. We should bring cell phones to school. We should bring cell phones to school. Cell phones allow teachers to communicate with their students faster through email. Student should phone during class One thing is that, that for the kids who sometimes write slower than others can record their class session and use it at home not all kids are fast enough to write as fast as they might think or teachers may think and if it's sloppy when they get home and forget and look at their notes they might think it's not for homework and if kids play games in school so what if it sharpens their mind and makes them more aware of things instead of sleeping in class. They can listen to the teachers at home too. Phones should not be allowed in class. They will just lower your grade point average, and there are some students who would use them to cheat on test during class. Then they would fail there classes...

A cell phone is a great device, it can be used in education such as downloading educational apps and other educational materials (Anderson, 2001). In this case, there is a debate on whether they should be restricted in schools or they should be allowed as part of reference materials for their learning. Everyone has his or her own opinion hence would like to be involved in the discussion to give to his or her own views about the topic. The best audiences to be involved in this kind of discussion are the students. The importance of the chosen topic is to give evidence on how students understand the social impacts of cell phones on life or work balance. No Cell After the Bell

...No Cell after the Bell “No cell phones! Unbelievable, right?” Wrong! Almost everyone in today’s society owns a cell phone. Even though cell phones have become a fixture in everyday life, they still have no place in the classrooms. Some people may argue that these phones are essential in case of an emergency or for safety, but this does not change the fact that cell phones can be a distraction, can cause antisocial behavior, increase theft, and can be used for non-educational purposes like cheating, cyberbullying, and sexting. Most students are easily distracted in the class room; therefore, by allowing students to bring their cell phones to school will not only distract teachers, but also other students. An example of this is a cell phone ringing. If someone’s phone rings in class, it will cause everyone to lose focus of what is going on and pay more attention to the person whose phone rang. Other students are distracted by the many features on their phones’. Cell phones nowadays are like mini laptops. In “Updating Policy on Latest Risks for Students with Cell Phones in the School,” Vanessa St. Gerard discusses the negative and positive uses of cell phones in school. St. Gerard argues, “As technology continues to advance, more issues with cell phones and other electronic devices in schools will surely arise” (45). St. Gerard also points out, “Cell phones are not designed for simply making and receiving phone calls anymore. Advanced technology now developed for cell phones allows...

Should Cell Phones Be Allowed In School Essay

...In 2004, only 45% of teens had their own cell phone, that percentage has risen through the roof in 2017. Almost every teenager has one now. My first reason is that some schools/classrooms cannot access all of the technology needed for that subject but a cell phone can get you tons of online learning activities. Cell Phones in School

...CELL PHONES IN SCHOOL Who doesn’t have a cell phone these days? The amazing thing about cell phones is that they are no longer just used for calling or texting. They have become an indispensable multi-tool wonder. Today’s cell phone is cutting-edge technology at your fingertips. With this in mind, should students be permitted to use cell phones in school? I believe they should not just be permitted to use cell phones, they should be required to use them. Cell phones don’t just allow students to stay connected with family and friends, they are also an excellent learning resource, and they encourage the responsible use of technology. To begin with, cell phones make it possible for students to stay in touch with family and friends. A student can call home and ask a family member to bring them a forgotten assignment or lunch money or to come pick them up if they are sick. Also, cell phones allow parents to keep track of their children’s whereabouts before, during, and after school. And, of course, there’s always the possibility of a student needing to contact a parent because of a dangerous situation. Thus, having a cell phone is like having a guardian angel. Students can also connect with friends, but not just because it’s a fun thing to do; my teacher asks us to text or email our friends when they are absent to let them know what’s going on in class and to inform them of any homework. When used responsibly, a cell phone can be an excellent communication...

Before one can understand the importance of employing internet security in the classroom, they must first know the issues that arise from the use of technology in the classroom. Some think of cell phones as just a convenient means of communication, whereas others see it as a way to lure innocent victims so that they can satisfy their own personal pleasures. Regarding the use of technology, social, legal, and moral issues have emerged as three major concerns. (Journal of Educational Technology Systems, v38 n1 p39-50 2009-2010. 12 pp.). “Teachers regularly cite cell phones as one of the most menacing distractions in the classroom. ...Professor’s Name Course Date Argumentative Essay on the Use of Mobile Phones in Schools The use of mobile or cell phones in learning institutions, specifically schools, has elicited debate and bitter arguments, not only in the United States of America, but in the world as a whole. While part of society has supported the use of cell phones in schools, the other part has opposed their use bitterly. Mobile phone manufacturers, such as Apple and Samsung, have targeted students as their main market and thus they have designed various models with lots of features(what features mention it?)in order to attract them. Despite the fact that the use of mobile phones by students in schools can be used positively and constructively in order to enhance their learning, the same technological devices can be utilized negatively, which distracts them and their teachers and in turn disrupts the learning process. ...myself, rely on technology a lot. Whether it is with school related, work related, or just personal use. With technology advancing everyday, we can virtually do anything with cell phones or computers. By knowing that there is an alternative and much easier way of doing a task, individuals become accustomed to keep using the source(s) for the easy way out. Not only is it a much easier way, but people lose many other factors and the main purpose by not doing it first hand. Younger generations are the ones that are being affected by the technology the most. In most schools around the world, technology is now being fitted into the school's curriculum in order to lead the students into a successful path. However, it is only giving the students an easier way to find the answers without them actually learning and comprehending what the main lesson(s) or purpose is. For example, when a student is writing a research paper, all he or she has to do is go on a computer, type in a couple of words, and the research is done. Instantly a student can have information and answers without doing any actual research themselves. Technology is not only giving the answers directly to the student but it is putting them down for failure in the outside world when they face the challenge of not being able to rely back to the computer or phone. The teachers rely on technology just as much as the students do, causing not only harm to students but the entire school. Due to the technology advancing rapidly and taking...
