CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND

This part is introduction and background will explain about background of project, objectives, problem statement, scope of project.

i. Project Title
Car Jack with pneumatic system.

ii. Abstract
The students design a new model car jack with pneumatic system. Pneumatic system is a power transmission system that uses the force of flowing gases to transmit power. A problem statement about car jack is a lot of people need an ergonomics design to reduce musculoskeletal disorders. Musculoskeletal disorders can affect the body’s muscles, joints, tendond, ligament, and nerves. Such as the discs in back bones. The scope of the project is the students have to design a car jack with the ergonomics design based on the human body. There are three main parts of the product. The first parts is spiral balloon. The second part is one way control valve. The third part is hose lock.

iv. Background of Project
The project is an assignment of the Industrial Design and Ergonomics. Based on the ergomics and human function, the student must design a car jack with ergonomics to help human. In this time, car jack help people to change tire. But a lot of the car jack, use a lot of energy from operator the car jack. So, we design a new model car jack with pneumatic system. Pneumatic system is a power transmission system that uses the force of flowing gases to transmit power. So, we don’t use a lot of energy to lift the car. There are three main parts of the product. The first parts is spiral balloon. It is a part to lift the car and then the operator can change the tire. The spiral balloon can expand can expand because the force from gases. The second part is one way control valve. The function of a one way control valve is prevented air loss if you decide to turn off your vehicle. Another function is maked gases can’t go out from balloon. The third part is hose lock. Hose lock consists of pipe and valve. But there is a lock in the edge of pipe. So the pipe can’t release from muffler. Because the spiral balloon get a gases from muffler of the car. This product will make the activity is fun to change the tire. Because just need a little time to inflate enough to raise the car up off the ground.

v. Problem Statement
A problem statement about car jack is a lot of people need an ergonomics design to reduce musculoskeletal disorders. Musculoskeletal disorders can affect the body’s muscles, joints, tendond, ligament, and nerves. Such as the discs in back bones. Most work related with musculoskeletal disordes develop over time and are caused either by the work itself or by the employees working environment. Changes in posture or poor body mechanis may bring about spinal alignment problems and muscle shortening, therefore cusing other muscles to be misused and become painful. Changes the tire with the car jack need a lot of force when do that activities. Usually, when the people changes the tire with the car jack, they use a wrong posture. Then, the activities make musculoskeletal disorders for their body. So, the design of the car jack must ergonomics with the human body to reduce an accident when changes the tire.

vi. Objectives
The Objectives of the project are: 1. To design a car jack is easy to use 2. To improve a car jack which put outside a lot energy become a car jack that need a little time to inflate enough to raise the car up off the ground 3. To reduce muscoloskeletal disorders when spin the handle of the car jack

vii. Scope of The Project
The scope of the project is the students have to design a car jack with the ergonomics design based on the human body. The design isnot always a new design of the car jack. The students can deveolop an old design of the car jack to be a new design with the ergonomics system to make easier when changes the tire.

The solution for the problem statement about the car jack is made a new design of the car jack with the ergonmics and human function to reduce musculoskeletal disorders of the operator car jack. A new design use a force of the gases from the car. So, the operator of the car jack must not exceed force to raise up of the car. That is easier than he old design of the car when change the tire of the car. There are a lot of probability accident when using the old design of the car jack.

CHAPTER 2
LITERATURE REVIEW

Pneumatic system is a system that uses air to power something. The systems are extensively used in industry because they are able to provide motive power in a cheaper, safer and more reliable way. Pneumatics also has applications in dentistry and construction. Pneumatic systems is the force produced by air pressure acting on the surface of a valve or piston and can be used in allot of things such as servicing units for aircrafts, air storage in flights, for emergency breaks, emergency landing gear extension, emergency flap extension, and canopy release mechanisms.
Human factors and ergonomics is concerned with the "fit" between the user, equipment and their environments. It takes account of the user's capabilities and limitations in seeking to ensure that tasks, functions, information and the environment suit each user. To assess the fit between a person and the used technology, human factors specialists or ergonomists consider the job (activity) being done and the demands on the user; the equipment used (its size, shape, and how appropriate it is for the task), and the information used (how it is presented, accessed, and changed). Ergonomics draws on many disciplines in its study of humans and their environments, including anthropometry, biomechanics, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, industrial design, information design, kinesiology, physiology, and psychology.
A hose lock apparatus for connecting an air suction hose of a vacuum cleaner to a vacuum cleaner body, comprising: a vacuum cleaner hose clamp in a form of a hollow cylinder, engaged with an end of the air suction hose therein, and having at least one locking protrusion along an outer circumference and at least one locking rib on a surface of the hose clamp; and an air inlet configured at the vacuum cleaner body to receive an end of the hose clamp, the air inlet including, at least one insertion hole for receiving each locking protrusion in an inserting direction, at least one seating groove connected to the insertion hole to receive the at least one locking protrusion when the hose clamp is rotated by a predetermined angle such that engagement of the at least one locking protrusion and the at least one seating groove prevents removal of the hose clamp, at least one guiding groove extending along a surface of the air inlet in the inserting direction to receive the at least one locking rib as the hose clamp is inserted in the air inlet, and at least one locking groove spaced from the at least one guiding groove by the predetermined angle and engaging the at least one locking rib of the hose clamp in detent when the hose clamp is rotated by the predetermined angle, thus holding the hose clamp and the at least one locking protrusion in a lock position relative to the air inlet.

METHODOLOGY

The project methodology will explain with the fow chart:

The flowchart of the project methodology is started with a new design of the car jack. The next proccess isconnected the pipe with the muffler of the car and then push the pedal gas of the car. There is decission the spiral balloon inflate. If no, go to the previous process is push the pedal as of the car. If yes, go to the next process is the car raise up off th ground. And then the operator can changes the tire of the car. After the operator done to change the tire, put outside gases from the balloon and save the car jack in the right place.
