Convenience Aspect. Alfonso Pizano is an Accounting major and a commuter from Stockton. Currently he is a senior student taking his last classes to graduate and he was not able to build a time wise schedule, so his classes start at rush hour, around 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. During rush hours it is really hard to find a parking space on the busiest parking lots, such as Demergasso Bava Hall and Naraghi Science parking lots. One day, on his way to school, he was stuck in traffic because of an accident, what caused him to arrive on campus with not much spare time to find a parking spot. The long walks students are forced to take around campus increase the chances of being attacked by malicious individuals. According to Stanislaus State’s Annual Security Report for the years of 2013 and 2014, the number of sexual assaults rose from two in 2013 to seven in 2014, and aggravated assaults, up from three to four. The report states the increase is due to better reporting policies, but the increased amount of individuals walking by themselves is certainly another factor that contributed to the rise of these numbers. Students and faculty who have evening classes are mainly affected because they have to walk long distances to their cars and there is not much visible vigilance around campus at those times. Also, several cars are parked for long periods on the streets and neighborhoods around campus, which attracts criminals that may try to break into cars because they know the campus police is not really active outside of …show more content…
It is no secret that vehicles harm the environment we are surrounded by. A little background about how this happens is, when a vehicle is running, the vehicle itself diffuses several gases and tiny particles into the air. According to Jennifer King, in the article “How Does Car Pollution Affect the Environment & Ozone Layer?” these gases and particles are carbon dioxide, hydrocarbons, dozen volatile organic compounds, nitrogen oxides, sulfur oxides, particular matter, and tiny solids such as metal and soot, which are diffused by simply turning on your vehicle in your driveway.
