Case Study Essay
Recruiting is a hard job for anyone no matter the company. A person has to make sure that they hire the right kind of people that works best for the company, have great people skills along with good work ethics. Carl Robbins had been hired from ABC Inc as a recruiter. Carl’s job was an important position within the company. They depend on him to find new employees, so that the company can achieve excellence and grow. Carl took his job to heart and was trying to do his best work every day. Hiring new recruits and getting them trained by July was the goal. The topics to discuss are with the new recruits would be their back ground checks, training schedule, orientation day, drug/physical scheduled date. Upon attempting to complete this task, Carl had assured the company he could get this task completed. By not doing better follow up Carl placed himself with difficult tasks. He will need to address some key problems such as, proposed solutions, and how to prevent these problems in the future.
Background Information
Carl Robins is the new campus recruiter for ABC, Inc. He has only been at this new job for six months; this was his first recruitment effort. He wanted to his best at making sure everything went smoothly without problems. He was tasked to hire new recruits to work for Monica Carroll’s, the Operations Supervisor. He wanted to get the recruits fully trained and working for the company fast. He was hoping to get the new recruits working by July. He has run into some slight problems though.
Carl scheduled orientation for new recruits on June 15, so they could start work in July. May 15th, Monica contacted Carl to make sure everything was ready for the orientation day. Carl assured Monica that everything would be fine and go smoothly. On May 31st, Carl was reviewing his files and documents to make sure everything was in order. This is when he realized there are some problems. Below he would need to look at these items needing closer review and issues that need to be dealt with before training on June 15th.
Key Issues
First and foremost Carl did not follow thru to make sure that everything was ready for June 15th as he had assured he would. The operations supervisor should have discussed more in depth what her expectations of Carl where as to what items needed to completed by what date. The most important key in a business is communication among employees. If there is no communication then the business will fall apart piece by piece.
Incomplete Required Documents
Company policies were not followed as to what documents are needed to be employed by this company. Some of the recruit’s applications are not complete. Some of the recruit’s transcripts have not made it to the proper files. These items are important to a company to make sure only the best employees are being hired for the job.
Schedule Drug Screening/Physicals Carl noticed that not all the required drug screenings and physicals for the new recruits had been completed. Drug screenings and physicals are important to a company because it tells the company what type of person is being hired. A company does not want to hire someone that is not fit to work.
Incomplete Orientation Manuals
The orientation manuals had not been properly verified that all training data had been included. Some of the manuals had been missing pages and not all of them were available. These materials are vital to making sure the recruit’s get the proper required training in order to be employed at the company. A company cannot provide proper training without the completed materials and this is critical to how well the job is done.
Double Booking of Training Location
Schedule of training rooms had not been made in a timely manner which caused an issue of availability of a room to train or allow the company ample time to find an alternative training place and cost in the budget. The conference room had been booked by another employee for the whole month, so Carl has to figure out what his backup plan is.
Proposed Solutions Carl will need to make a list of items and the timeline of when items need to be completed. His list should include the following items: list of documents the recruit’s files are missing, list of what recruits need drug/physical testing done, orientation manuals need to be redone, schedule a training room and the final step is schedule the training with the new recruit’s. Once this list is created then Carl can start completed the items in the order listed, to be sure all timelines are met on time. Carl should then follow up to make sure all tasks are getting completed on a weekly or daily basis.
Completion of Required Documents
Carl should contact each recruit to get the required paperwork in order to be hired. he needs to make sure the recruits finish the required applications. Also, needs to contact the recruits that do not have transcripts on file, so he can get them before the training is conducted. A company needs to be sure that they are hiring qualified personnel.
Required Drug Screening/Physicals
Carl should call all the recruits in to get the proper physicals and drug screening done. He should call them all in at the same time to get them all done at once. Then he should ask the clinic if he can rush the results, so this gets completed in a timely manner. Drug Screening and physicals are important to a company to make the employees being hired are reliable and competent.
Completed Orientation Manual
Carl should request completed training materials from human resources. He should review all training materials once these have been completed by the Human Resource department. If human resources are not available to help then he could use an outside source to make the required number of copies with the right pages in the documentation. A company will not succeed very far if the training documentation is not complete or accurate. On training day, he should hand out the Companies Policy Manuals to all new recruits.
Confirm Training Location
Carl should ask the other employee if he can take a break in his training for one day, so he could use it. If not then he should seek other training rooms. If no room is available in the company building then he should think about using a hotel conference room to complete the training on time. He will need to be sure to budget for the costs if training is conducted off the company property. He needs to verify that all training rooms are scheduled for the proper time. Lastly, Carl should follow up with emails to the proper departments to keep the other departments informed of progress and any other issues that may have risen. Carl keeping everyone informed lets the company knows that he is doing a great job and keeping up with his work. Also, lets the company know that they hired a capable and competent person for the job. A company needs stable and capable employees in order to operate.
Future Prevention
In order for Carl to be better prepared for future recruitments, he will need to have learned from his current experience. Carl should start by making a complete list of company hiring requirements and following up with the tasks weekly. Doing this will keep him better organized along with on track and fewer hassles to deal with at the last minute.
Carl should start the files on the projected recruits before the interviews, so when the recruits come in the files are ready. When he is speaking to the new recruit on the phone for setting up an interview, he can inform the recruit what documentation to bring with to the interview. Immediately after the interview, he can walk with the recruit down to the company clinic to get the physicals and drug testing done. Once the interviews are complete, then he can get the required orientation manuals completed by talking to human resources. He can hand out company policy manuals during the scheduled training. Then he should schedule the location of the training.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Carl has learned his lesson and will make sure he stays on the top of the recruitment process in future. He plans on handling the process in a better manner in the future. He will make sure he has his list for completing tasks and make sure he follows up on all items. The most important concept in a company is communication and follow up to be sure all required items get completed in a timely manner. A company will only succeed if all employees work together as a team. Carl has learned to use his other team members to help him throughout the process.

Firstly, the problem that customer highlighting is automatic debiting the customer account by way of penalty. This action cause the customer has to rethink his errant financial way. The bank should having a notice or inform to their customers before debiting any penalty. This may cause many of customers that face the financial problem to fall into difficulty. Besides, the customer notices he cannot contact to employee over the time. The customers are confronted by the impersonal ever-changing, pre-recorded, faceless entity which the bank has become. The customers want to deal with a flesh and blood person but not the automated voice phone system. This impersonal conversation will make customer loss of confident about what the customer inquire. Moreover, customer will get charge for the advertising material sent by bank. It charges for $2.00 per page customer read. For the bank nominated contact, that will be billed at $5 per minute. Bank should be let the customer know early for the reading fees or ask for customer permission whether having interest about the advertising material. If not, bank should not send to them. This may causes the customer read on it unconsciously. To helping the customer, customer service should not be charge. Lastly, the problem is the automated voice phone system of the bank.
