Kanawha County 4-H is committed to working with the Charleston Community and Family Development Corporation, to enhance youth’s experiences and life skills. For over a hundred years 4-H in West Virginia have been offering summer educational programming through residential camping. Kanawha County 4-H offers two residential weekly camps—one for teens and one for elementary and middle school youth-- each year at Camp Virgil Tate in Kanawha County. Each camper receives quality educational programming which they choose. A typical offering of classes include healthy living, cooking, hiking, shooting sports, STEM, sports, discussion topic, fishing, and art classes. The cost for the five day experience in the past has been under two hundred dollars
