Introduction The six main functions of a Human Resource Management (HRM) are recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management and appraisal, compensations and benefits, safety and health, and employee and labor relations. However, this assignment only focused on issues related to compensations and benefits function in the context of Utusan Printcorp Sdn. Bhd. There are three issues highlighted in this paper, with all of them were associated with the same function of HRM. The issues were analyzed and recommendations were suggested for the company and the employees to take into account. Islamic perspectives of compensations and benefits were also included to understand this concept according to Quran and Sunnah of the Prophet SAW.

The Company Utusan Printcorp Sdn. Bhd. offers commercial printing services. The company was incorporated in 1975 and is based in Bandar Baru Bangi, Selangor. The company size is 150 to 499 employees. The company’s current Chief Executie Officer (CEO) is Encik Jamal Khail Mohd Isa. As of September 1, 2011, Utusan Printcorp Sdn. Bhd. operates as a subsidiary of DTSP Consortium Sdn. Bhd. in December 2011, the company has taken over the operation of Dawama Sdn. Bhd – the publisher and distributer of Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka Malaysia (DBP). The company main business operations are commercial printing such as brochures, annual reports, magazines and books. Starting from 1st January 2014, JARING Communications Sdn Bhd is a private entity via the 100% transfer of shareholding to Utusan Printcorp Sendirian Berhad.
