Eu....................... zoals we het vandaag kennen, bestaat uit 28 lidstaten met 24 officieel erkende talen. Die variatie aan talen is een kracht, zo zegt Eu..................., en een kans om de eigen talenkennis uit te breiden. Flink wat Eu................... geld gaat dan ook naar projecten die ons moeten motiveren om elkaars talen te leren. Op lange termijn zou elke Eu..................... zelfs drietalig moeten zijn en dus twee vreemde talen moeten kunnen spreken.

Daarnaast is er ook een politieke reden. Ten tijde van het IJzeren Gordijn moest iedereen verplicht R.................... studeren. Mensen van mijn generatie spanden zich niet in om R................ te leren, als protest.”
Maar dat is aan het veranderen. “De huidige generatie jonge H.................... studeert En.............. of D............... en neemt er vaak ook nog een kleinere vreemde taal bij. Maar onze maatschappij is nu eenmaal erg vergrijsd, en dus krijg je zo’n cijfer.”

Nochtans zijn It.................... net jaloers op mensen die wel veel talen spreken. Buitenlandse taalkampen voor jongeren, bijvoorbeeld, zijn erg populair.

Ook in het V............... K..................., Ie................. en Por............... spreekt ongeveer 60 procent van de inwoners enkel zijn moedertaal. Niet zo verwonderlijk, als je weet dat Ie......... en Br.............. overal ter wereld met open armen in hun eigen taal ontvangen worden. Het En............. is overal. Dan moet je al erg gemotiveerd zijn om zelf een andere taal te leren.
Maar hoe zit het eigenlijk met ons, de B.......................?
Maar 28 procent van de B................. spreekt enkel zijn moedertaal. 72 procent spreekt dus nog minstens een andere taal. Dat is niet slecht, we leven nu eenmaal in een drietalig land en de cijfers omvatten ook onze Fr.................. landgenoten die nu eenmaal - globaal genomen - een minder goede talenkennis hebben.

Waar is het dan fout gelopen? Volgens professor Piet Desmet, hoogleraar Taaldidactiek aan de KULAK zijn er een aantal mogelijke verklaringen voor de achteruitgang van onze talenkennis. "De tweetaligheid in ons land is geleidelijk aan aan het verdwijnen, en dat ondanks het succes van de taalopleidingen Fr............ in het volwassenenonderwijs. Daarnaast is er sprake van een overschatting van de kennis van het En..............., zeker bij volwassenen."

Niet de Vl.................. maar de Lu.................... blijken de polyglotten van Eu............ te zijn. 98 procent van de inwoners blijkt er minstens zijn moedertaal te spreken. Meer nog, 61 procent van de Lu..................... spreekt naast zijn moedertaal nog drie of meer vreemde talen spreekt. Lu.................. staat hiermee met stip op kop in Eu.................... . Het tweede meest talengekke land is Slove................... Daar zegt 44,9 procent minstens vier talen te spreken. Ter vergelijking, in Be.................... gaat het maar om 27 procent, amper een derde.
Niet zo verwonderlijk, stelt Desmet. Lu............. is een klein landje dat geografisch tussen twee grote lidstaten ligt. Het Letzeburgs bevat bovendien heel wat Du................. en Fr..............invloeden. Het is dus niet zo raar dat veel Lu................... naast hun moedertaal ook Fr............... en Du............... spreken. Bovendien wonen er in Lu.................. ook nog eens heel wat buitenlanders die werken voor de Eu................... instellingen of een buitenlands bedrijf.

There is however some confusion as it relates to the use of case studies. The first such confusion that must be clarified is what the definition of a case study is and what constitutes a case study. These cases are designed to provide the students the opportunity to demonstrate their mastery of all marketing related topics and issues. Each student, individually, is required to prepare a 2 to 3 page single spaced typed solution to the case. The solution should be in the format of an executive memo and be very strategic action oriented. If there are questions at the end of the case, unless otherwise directed, questions should only be used as guidelines. Answering only those questions will not be appropriate. The write-up is to be a “management directive” for the company. It should specifically state what the actions of the company should be to operate within the specific situation. This should not be a recantation of the case. On the case days, students will discuss each of their solutions in a simulated boardroom environment. There is no one set solution to the case. The success in this situation for the student is his or her ability to support their recommendations. Students should provide support as to why they feel their individual solution is appropriate.
