Judith Rumelt, better known by her pen name Cassandra Clare, was born on July 27th, 1973 in Tehran, Iran. . Her parents travelled around the world and so as a child she did not make many friends. As she grew older, she became fixated on books and the characters because they would always be there, the characters in her books became her friends. Her family finally settled in Los Angeles, California as she entered her high school years. She wrote short stories for her classmates, including a short story which she name “The Beautiful Cassandra” which inspired her pen name. As the group departs to go finish off the bad guy everyone prepares for the impending battle, they put their trust in a couple of teenagers who have just began to understand what responsibility is. As kids grow into young adults it’s important to begin to give them responsibility so they can understand what they will face later. Cassandra Clare tries to make a point that trust is an initial step toward responsibility. During the accords, the shadowhunters are wary to trust the downworlders, this event represents both prejudice and discrimination. The shadowhunters do not trust the downworlds, they fear their abilities that originate from demonic blood. The downworlds, on the other hand, believe the shadowhunters to be cruel and arrogant for their angelic blood. Once they find a common enemy and share their powers and abilities everything changes. Cassandra Clare inserts this last piece to show how prejudice and discrimination can be overcome. She shows that it’s possible to look past the differences and find what people have in common. People have been known to become more tolerable in their perspective when they find that they have things in common with each
