Cath Avery is a remarkable character that sheds a light on what it really means to be a fan girl. She is seen as an introvert living in the shadow of her twin sister, Wren. Ever since Cath has been little she used the world of fanfiction to escape reality and to cope with the issues of her mother abandoning her sister and her and leaving them with their dad. Cath is described as a slim, dark, brown, hair girl with glasses. Since she lived in the shadow of her sister, she developed low- self-esteem that consumed her every day. To say the least she had social anxiety problems that played a part in the next chapter of her life, which was college. Once Cath and Wren arrived at the same college that they both were attending, Cath got hit with news that changed her comfort zone, her twin sister wanted to put distance between them. The conflict at hand was now Cath had to face the idea of being on her own in college, without the help of her sister. Cath has always considered herself a nerd and an outcast because she chooses the world of fanfiction then her real world. She struggled in college at first, in her mind she thought that she could just shut out the outside world and stay in her dorm room writing forums for her fanfiction website. Her father started to have mental breakdowns that forced her to sometimes leave college and go home and take care of him. While her twin sister was going to parties and gaining an addiction to alcohol. To top off her mother tried to resurface in her life. All the events that were happening to her changed her aspect on life she forgot how to live her life, how to be herself without the thought of considering what others thought of her. She decided to focus on herself and fall in love with her roommate’s best friend. She started to open up
