Cats are better pets than dogs.
Did you know that cats have 30 teeth and dogs have 42! No wonder cats are cheaper, easier to train, self-sufficient and well-balanced. Cats make better pets then dogs because, they are cheaper, self-sufficient and easier to train then dogs.
Lower Cost
The annual cost of dogs and cats are different. According Financially Fit blog, Annual bill for feeding and vet bills varies for small dogs $1,314 first year, $580 per year after. Medium Dogs $1,580 First year and $695 per year after. Large dogs are $1,843 first year and 875 per year after. Where cats are $1,035 first year and $670 per year after. No matter the breed away it always stays the same for cats. This estimate does not include if and or when you travel. Dogs you have to either bring along or pay extra money to have with you, get a dog sitter, and board them somewhere or a dog walker while at work or away. Where cats just need to have enough food and water for the time that you are gone, or have a relative or friend come and check on them. These estimates include food, annual vet bills, they don’t include extras like toys,. According to the ASPCA, training and grooming for a small dog breaks down like this:• Long hair grooming – $264 • Training class – $110 • TOTAL - $374. Ever see a dog's playthings? Shredded rawhide bones, torn tennis balls. They're in tatters (unless, of course, they've been swallowed). Cat toys tend to be hugged, carried and carefully hidden in beds or baskets. Cats keep their prizes safe from intruders who might steal that square felt thing with the bell in it, or the sparkly ball that squeaks. And cats firmly believe in stockpiling: A calico named Cassie once stashed 27 ping pong balls under a skirted rocking chair, apparently sensing a global shortage. Her owners thought the balls were lost. Instead they had become "cat collectibles." Cats also make better fashion choices than dogs -- have you seen some of the outfits dogs allow themselves to be seen in? But no self-respecting feline would don a hot pink hoodie without clawing it to ribbons first.
Easier to train1
Dogs takes weeks if not months to fully potty train, then you have to make sure they can be walked while either gone or at work, not including to train them to be nice, sit, stay, come. There is more than these commands, these are just the basics that takes weeks to conquer. You also have to fully house break them. That depends on how often you can walk them or let them out to go potty, even then it can take a long time if you don’t stay on top of it. Whereas cats take matter of minutes to potty train. Show it the litter box, lock it in the room with that litter box for a day or two, and it will know what to do. As for further training for cats, after you train them for the litter box, which is easy, just lock them in a room for a few days with food and water and litter box. Then the rest of the training is just making sure they don’t get on the counter, come to their name. A thunderstorm shakes the skies, drenching the dog walker as she waits for her trusty pet to take care of business. Its cold, it's midnight and this is all so inconvenient. In snow, sleet, heat or rain -- the dog needs a walk. Demands a walk. Bring the scooper, the scented disposal bags and patience. Meanwhile, a contented cat sits smugly in the window, unaffected by the downpour outside. A quick trip to the litter box and the cat's set for the night. Even on a sunny day, cats wouldn't dream of asking for a walk. Wear a leash? Yeah, right. Try placing a harness or leash on a cat, and watch how it squats, thinking that colorful ropy thing has somehow tied it down. What, you want the cat to lead the human around while wearing that? Please. Save it for the dog. Who must be walked again?

Self- sufficient. Dogs are social-pack based animals, they need human contact daily, hourly to survive. They depend on humans to go to the bathroom, to eat, to play more so then cats. Cats can be social to their owner when they want to be yet they don’t depend on them to survive. They can go weeks without being petted or touched as long as their litter is clean, there is food in their bowl and water available they are content with life. Dogs need toys to play with granted you can get a stick and some dogs will be content with it and play with it. As for the cat, they can make anything into a toy. I have seen cats take a hair tie and make it into a three hour toy for them. No need to spend outrages money for cat toys, just give them things they can throw around on their own. That is another thing, dogs need you to play with them, and they don’t know how to play by themselves. Where cats can play for hours by themselves.
Not only are cats better to have, they are cheaper, only have 30 teeth! They need less contact and time. They need less training, no need to spend a bundle on toys they can be good with a milk ring, when you need to travel just need to give them enough food and water! I have three cats and a dog, and I wo Most dogs will always vocalize their moods. A cat will keep it to itself. Upset, happy, excited or just talkative, dogs bark. Loudly, dogs announce every news event, from a stranger at the door to a new flavor of treat. Cats, even with protesting meows over a flea bath, lack the chops to compete with a dog's decibel level. Feline complaints are mostly mews and occasional hisses, barely audible from another room. Your neighbors will never call to inform you that your cat's hissing is keeping him awake. Before the moving red dot became a cat's most favorite activity, felines had to settle for chasing a flashlight's beam. Boring! Then, the arrival of that dancing pinpoint turned cat play into a fast-forward ballet. Cats never tire of racing after that elusive speck. Slapping hopeful paws over it, they're baffled when it seems to escape. Where does it go? No matter, they're hot on the trail, and getting a cat-cardio workout while they're at it. While a dog will chase a ball, he has no interest in whatever that flashy, red thing is. Why pursue something if he can't fetch it for a reward? But cats know the laser pointer's real reward is the chase itself. And someday they really will nab that little red sucker
Elderly and Kids, for the elderly the best animal are small dogs or cats. When I mention cats I am saying older than two. For the elderly you will not want a big dog or a kitten, and if you have your own place and not in a helping home, then a dog is great. Usually you are in a home where people check on you so you might not be able to get a dog, also you might not be able to walk the dog, meaning the elderly sometimes are unable to walk so the cats are better. As for kids, either can be great animal can be great with kids, yet if you have small kids it is recommended that you have cats, or older dogs that are set in a routine. Again if you have a newborn having new animal’s period is not a good idea.
Friendly animals, when friends arrive at your home, a dog goes into a frenzy, barking, leaping and pawing at the newcomer. "Pay attention to me!" he begs, as his excited nails rake a guest's linen blazer. While the dog does everything possible for approval, from racing around the room to bouncing like a basketball, the cat is usually nowhere to be seen. Cats prefer to observe new arrivals from afar. For instance, under the bed or atop the refrigerator. Maybe, if the cat is in the mood, she'll come out to acknowledge this New Person with a tail twitch, a cautious once-over. But that's it. No effusive greetings, no jumping on laps or humping of legs. Invite a cat to your dinner party. She'll stay discreetly out of the way, while a dog lusts for -- and sometimes runs away with -- the main course.

Why Cats Are Better Than Dogs

...Why cats are better than dogs Many people today own a pet or some sort, but the most popular are dogs and cats. Everyone has their own particular reason for their choice of pet, but I prefer cats over dogs because cats are more independent than dogs. Firstly you never have to worry about trying to fit in 2 or 3 walks every day because with cats you don’t need that. For example, if you were tired or sick and you had a dog, you would still need to walk him/her. Or, it would cost money to hire someone else to walk your dog and it is a headache to arrange. Lastly you could put down enough food and drink and the cat would eat and drink when hungry or thirsty. A dog, on the other hand wouldn’t be able to regulate how much it should eat. Also a cat can go to the bathroom in a litter box, but a dog would need someone to take it out on a walk in order to go to the bathroom. Secondly cats are much quieter pets than dogs especially during times when you want to sleep or relax. For example; let’s say an individual has a tiring day of work and wants to relax. They finally get comfortable when their dog hears a sound outside or sees another dog and starts barking uncontrollably whereas cats keep any moods they have to themselves. Cats do not feel a need to share their opinions with everyone around them. They keep quiet and do not bother with meowing at strangers. When friends arrive at your home, a dog goes into frenzy, barking, leaping and pawing at the newcomer. While the dog does everything...

Goats Are Better Than Dogs and Cats

...Why goats are better than dogs and cats Dogs are regarded as man’s best friend. In the USA alone, there are around 78 million dog owners. There are also over 220 million cats in the world. Whenever you think of a common household pet, you will most likely think of cats or dogs straight away. If you go out for a walk, it is almost guaranteed that you will see a cat or a dog. How many of you own a dog or a cat? Well I am going to convince you why goats are better pets than dogs or cats. Goats are amazing creatures. In many parts of the world they are thought of as livestock or work animals. They are used in third world countries for their meat, fur, milk and to work on the land. The truth is, they are wonderful pets and very loving creatures. There are around 450 million goats in the world and they were the first animal ever to be domesticated by humans. There are many different breeds of goats. All breeds are either dairy or meat goats. Dairy goats are bred for their milk, and meat goats are bred for their meat. Each different breed is extremely different, both in appearance and personality so you have lots to choose from. Dogs and cats are lots of fun but they don’t offer uses in many other ways. Goats can be very useful because they are able to eat the grass on your lawn. This is great for people who are busy because they won’t have to mow their lawn so often. Goats also provide you with fresh milk. Many scientists claim that fresh goat’s milk is great for your health. This...

Pros and Cons Essay

...Dogs versus Cats: Which Makes a Better Pet? Vicki Fournier COM/155 November 13, 2011 Genevieve Fraser Dogs vs. Cats: Which Makes a Better Pet? There is no right or wrong answer to this question. Some people say they are dog people, some people say they are cat people, and some people say they are both. Beyond the pros and cons, the decision to what makes a better pet often comes down to a person’s lifestyle, expectations, or in certain circumstances a person’s needs. Remember “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” (Hungerford, 1878) Both dogs and cats are common domesticated pets. Dogs have been domesticated for 14,000 years and cats for 7,000 (Cats vs Dogs, n.d.). It appears in my research that most people that were asked this question “which makes a better pet, a dog or a cat” replied with the answer “dogs,” but if dogs are the better pet then why is it that there are 96.3 million homes that own cats and only 77.5 million homes that own dogs. The scientists at Oxford University released a study that claims dogs are smarter than cats and The London Daily Telegraph has reported dogs have been named as more social animals and therefore have bigger brains than the “alone loving cat” (Gatton Star, 2010, p.11). Here is something to think about: have you ever heard of a cat running full speed into a glass door? Sure a dog is a “man’s best friend” and is always there by your side, he can catch a ball in his mouth, and he knows exactly...

These are questions people argue every day. There are two different types of people in this world, dog lovers and cat lovers, and they both think their pets are the best. But how are they so sure? One big controversy between dogs and cats, is that both species lovers believe their pet can hear, see, and smell better than the other. But who’s correct? On the category of smell, dogs can smell human fingerprints that are a week old. Their noses are so sensitive they can even smell electricity. My Cats

...my cats Long time ago, a people raised a cat and a dog as his pet. And the cat and the dog were very good friends. They ate together, lived together, and play together. They almost stayed together all of the day. One day, the master lost his ancestral gem and he was very sad. Then the cat and the dog decided to find the gem. On the road, they met a mountain, the dog said” Cat brother, climb on my back!” Then they met a river. The cat couldn’t swim. The dog said” Don’t worry. I can help you. Climb on my back.” Finally, they found the gem. But when they returned to home, the cat told their master” it’s me who find the gem, and the dog did nothing.” When the dog wanted to explain it, the master didn’t give dog a chance. He gave the cat a delicious fish, and kicked the dog out of the door. The dog and the cat weren’t friend since then. That’s why dogs bite cats as soon as they meet, and dogs always pursue while cats always escape. And another reason is that dogs and cats have very different language. When the dog meets the cat, the dog always wags tail, because they think it is a friendly way. But cats often think it is provocation. But nowadays dogs and cats aren’t always enemy any more. Sometimes, they can stay together peacefully. Maybe you could say the dog is a better pet. But I don’t know why, I just like cats very much. I always become crazy when I meet a cat. They are really cute. When they want something, they fawn on you and follow you all around. And cats can be very...

Cats and Dogs

...Comp Fund 16 November 2001 Cats and Dogs This compare and contrast essay is for English composition, it will be on cats, and dogs, and The three points are going to be about; fur, hearing, and dogs being omnivorous, and cats being carnivores. Cats and dogs are at the top of the list for pets in the U.S. today. One can train dogs with a lot of time, and hard work, yet most cats are difficult or not trainable at all. Most dogs and cats have different lengths of hair, and they come in many colors, and lengths. They both have a strong sense of hearing, and a tremendous sense of smell. My family and I have owned many pets. We currently have two dogs, and two cats. Phoebe is a Yellow Lab with short blonde hair, and Lizzie is a Black Lab with short black hair. Most dogs shed, but there are some breeds that shed remarkably little, or not at all. Brushing a dog’s coat will cut down on the amount of hair on the furniture, and floors. We adopted our two cats from an animal shelter. Shockte has short white hair, and Izzy has long gray hair. Cats are easier to take care of than dogs due to their self-grooming habits; therefore, they do not need baths regularly. The only problem is they do get hairballs that can lead to health problems. There are three ways to rid a cat of a hairball; a bowel movement, regurgitation, or having them surgically removed. The more love and affection a pet gets, the more they are likely to give back. Cats and dogs love to play and must receive...

Man’s Best Friend

...Dogs are much better friends to the average person than cats could ever be. Cats and dogs both make a good pets depending on the individuals life style. The dog is a lot more social with their owner than a cat is with their owner. Dogs love to please their owner in all kinds of ways, and cats just wants to be pleased by their owner. Dogs can be train much faster and easier than a cat could be trained. Many people have a pet at home. The typical house pet is ether a cat or a dog, and some times people have both cats and dogs. I believe that a cat is a better choose if a person lives in an apartment because cats get patty train much faster, as wall as they don’t need that much space. I also believe that the dogs are more suited for a person that has a house because most dogs need to get out and exercise and play. If a person is looking for there first pet they need to consider their living situation, before choosing between a cat and a dog. Dogs are much more social with people than cats are. Dogs either want to be petted or play with you, such as playing fetch or tug-a-war. If dogs aren’t playing with you they are most likely laying close by if not even in your lad, depending on the size of the dog. On the other hand cats are most likely in the other room sleeping because they typical want to be left alone or get upset by load noises, and people that they don’t know. You may only see them two or three times a day, unless you go looking for them. All dogs want to do is to...

Kill shelters should be abolished because of the increase of them being constructed and the amount of animals being killed each year without them having a chance at living happily with a family. Kill shelters kill more than 90% of their animals. Nearly 16,000 dogs and 12,000 cats die in one kill shelter. There are numerous reasons as to why they kill these animals, one of them being that they can’t find a home and have no “hope” for adoption. ...Cats and dogs are viewed as to separate and different creatures. A popular question one might ask another is “Are you a cat or dog person?” The answer will give the asker an idea of the type of person he or she is. However, as many differences the two have, they also have a lot in common. Their physical make is obviously different, but upon taking a closer look they have certain attributes such as; whiskers and tails that help them each in the same ways. While they have well known different personalities they express themselves similarly. There are many differences in behavior when it comes to dogs and cats. The biggest difference between the two is their social patterns and interactions with humans and others in their species. Dogs are pack animals. They usually will seek out one of them in a pack to take the role as leader. They view their pack as family and are loyal to keeping each other safe and thriving. If there is not a leader in the pack, they tend to experience behavioral problems. This leadership role can also be taken on by the dog’s owner. As a dog owner, you may want to instill this into your puppy early on ensuring that as he grows into a dog he will view you as the leader. Cats on the other hand are not pack animals. They also will not look to a human as their master. It is said that dogs are social and cats are solitary. While it is true that dogs prefer the company of other dogs or humans, cats will become attached to an owner and in some situations...

...Professor : Susan Houts Room: 225 Why cats are better companions than dogs We all know that common saying that ‘’A dog is a man’s best friend.” Even though that saying may contain some truth, but dogs are not the only animal friend whose companionship people enjoy, including myself. For many people, a cat is their best friend. Despite what dog lovers may believe, cats make excellent house pets as they are good companions. They are civilized members of the household, and they are easy to care for. In the first place, people enjoy the companionship of cats. Many cats are affectionate, and that goes for my cat fluffy. They will snuggle up with you and ask to be petted, or scratched under the chin. Who can resist a purring cat? If they are not feeling affectionate, cat are generally quite playful. They love to chase balls and feathers, or just about anything that dangling from a string. They especaially enjoy playing when their owners are participating in the game. Contrary to popular opinoin, cats can be trained to avoid unwanted behaviors or perform tricks. They are smart and adjust to variety of situatuions. In addition to being such great companions, cats are civilized members of the household. Unlike dogs, cats do not bark or make loud noise. Most cats don’t even meow very often.
