But through this system, Covey is instructing us to divide all our priorities into the following four quadrants: Figure 1. Effects of Being a Student with Extra Curricular Activities

...CHAPTER 1 A. Introduction Based on the Colegio de Sta. Rosa Makati Student Handbook Special Edition S.Y. 2012-2013, co-curricular activities serve as enrichment to the academic curriculum. Extra-curricular activities are activities that are not academic related but still under the supervision of the school. According to Ms. Rita Ruivivar, the activity coordinator of CSR Makati, co-curricular activities are related to academics thus, it could be outside school but still academic related. Extra-curricular activities on the other hand, are activities that are not academic related, for example basketball and volleyball teams, cheer force and other more. Based on thefreedictionary.com, co-curricular activities are complementing but are not part of the regular curriculum while extra-curricular activities are educational activities that are not falling within the scope of the regular curriculum. There was a research article in Korea made by Wi-Young So (2012). His article was about the association between physical activity and academic performance of Korean adolescent students. Surveys were given to the students to observe if physical activities are correlated with the student’s academic performance. He found out that vigorous physical activity is positively correlated with the academic performance in the case of boys. However, strengthening exercises were not positively correlated with the academic performance of both boys and girls. He also discovered that adequate physical...

...quantitative study of the researchers looked into the environment-centered and time-centered study habits of graduating CIHM students of the UPHSD-Las Pinas. Data were collected using validated self-made questionnaire and were analysed statistically. With overall average of 3.19 means that the CIHM students ‘Sometimes’ prefer environment-centered study habits. The indicator ‘I want to have a good light’ has the highest average of 3.35 which means that the CIHM students ‘Sometimes’ prefer to have a good light. Similarly, with overall average of 3.18 the CIHM students ‘Sometimes’ prefer time management-centered study habits. There is very low relationship between the general weighted average of CIHM students and their study habits, and this relationship is found to be not significant. When CIHM students are grouped according to their general weighted average, results show there are no significant differences in the environment-centered study habits of CIHM students; there are also no significant differences in time management-centered study habits of CIHM students; and, in general, there are no significant differences in the study habits of CIHM students. The researchers conclude that what the CIHM students preferred in their environment when they study, namely, a comfortable chair, a good light and a right room temperature, are exactly the same things that learners would prefer to have when they study. Temperature is as important as the light. No one can study, or do anything...

Study Habits of the Top Performing Class of Senior Students of Lyceum of the Philippines University Manila

...STUDY HABITS OF 4TH YEAR STUDENTS A research proposal presented To the Department of English and Literature College of Arts and Sciences Lyceum of the Philippines - Manila In partial fulfillment of ENGN 12A July 2012 CHAPTER I Introduction Study habits, in general, can be simply defined as the ability of an individual to comprehend information in order to fully understand and maximize the capacitance of learning in which it became a demand to our society. It does not only limit itself to students often going to school to master and memorize the concepts/lessons he/she has acquired from their teachers, but it does apply on every field of work. However, the problem that several universities have in common with their students is that almost 1/2 of the total population from different departments suffer from failure and repetition of grades indicating lack of proper training and communication. This phenomenon until now continues to be the number one dilemma for students especially when confronting their worse, feared, or even so-called “hated” subjects. Students are also more likely to fear and feel more anxiety when it comes to quizzes and examinations regardless of a subject’s difficulty. Failing grades either indicate the laziness of a student, poor study habit, or the environment that usually affects his/her mental state. Another factor that emphasizes the importance of study habits is the stress levels of the students depending on whether they can handle demanding...
