Characteristics and Environments of a Human Service Organization Paper Introduction
In this paper it will discuss and address a human service organization. The organizations vision and mission will be addressed. The organization staff and how it is governed will also be talked about in this paper. The key stakeholders will be discussed and the influence each may have on how the human service organization is operated. The community collaborations, and marketing, and public relations strategies of the organizations will be addressed, and the importance of these collaborations, and how they affect the organization as well as the community. The organization dealings with diversity issues will also be addressed. Environmental trends will also be evaluated through the political, economic, social, and technology issues for the organization when trying to serve, and fulfill the needs of the people in the community will be discussed.

The Human Service Organization
The Norton Love Community Center is located in High Grove, California; the center provides a community center that focuses on meeting the basic needs of the community. The center offers seniors two healthy meals and nutritional snacks daily Monday thru Friday. The meals are prepared by volunteers who are committed to serving the community. The center helps individuals in a variety of ways the organization offers bill payment assistance program to clients who may have shut-off notices on his or her light or gas bills. The center is open to everyone in the community there is many activities available for young children to seniors. The activities at the center are posted monthly one particular class that is very popular in the center is the aerobic exercise class offered free of charge four days a week at two different times in the mornings at nine and in the evening at six. This class also is taught by volunteers in a fun loving atmosphere and is enjoyed by many seniors in the community. The center is also a drop in center for seniors, and mentally challenged adults. The center is also a designated cool center for those in the communities who do not have adequate air condition, and need a place to keep cool during the hot summer months. There is many activities at the center that people in the community can get involved in like art, and craft classes, cooking classes, and cake decorating classes some of the classes do have a fee charged before the class begins that can include books and material fees. Every program participant is welcome to a clean healthy friendly environment, nutritional meals are provided daily, with group, and individual activities, counseling services, spiritual groups, and other resources are available upon request to assist each person with his or her specific needs.

Organizations Vision and Mission
The Norton Love Center and vision and mission are to,” work co-operatively together, and bringing their special passion, and skills, and commitment with the knowledge that each person plays a valuable role in his or her family”, [ (Family Service Association, 2011) ]. Each employee contributes with a unique sense of pride knowing that every task has an effective impact on the people the organization serves. The employees and volunteers when asked how he or she feels about the work he or she does, he or she may say that the reward is giving, [ (Family Service Association, 2011) ]. The enthusiasm and positive feedback is an example of the ownership he or she takes and the time and energy their willing to contribute. Empowering people to stand on his or her own and is helping to make a difference in the lives of individual’s families, and society. Norton Love Center and Family Service Association mission is to serve one purpose, to provide a diversity of high quality human services to residents of all ages, cultures, denominations, and socio-economic status, while advocating on the behalf of the clients the organization serves. Each team member works tirelessly to fulfill his or her vision to make a difference in the world by strengthening families, and individuals in creating strong and vibrant communities, [ (Family Service Association, 2011) ].

Organizations Staff and How It is Governed
The Norton Love Center has been serving this community over 25 years. The center is a partner of the Family Services Association with an estimated 500 employees and 500 volunteers serving the needs of families throughout two counties Riverside, and San Bernadino, California. Becoming a volunteer with the Norton Love Center has many benefits, he or she will be helping the community, by gaining valuable experience, and career exploration, and he or she can make a difference in someone else’s lives. The organization offers a wide range of employment opportunities a with career growth. The organization hires seasoned veterans, and other licensed professionals throughout the organization. Teachers, Clinicians, Case Managers, Site Supervisors, office assistance, and cooks are just a few of the positions offered by Norton Love Center, and Family Services Association.

Organization Stakeholders
In The Norton Love Center there are many stakeholders they include their staff members, program participants, and his or her families, program administrators, and the community as well as local suppliers, government. Stakeholder can have a major influence on the way the organization is operated, laws that are governed to provide the protection of the client’s rights that the organization serves, [ (www.ehow.com, 2013) ].

Community Collaborations
Marketing and public relations in Norton Love Center and Family Services Association hold regular meetings with Riverside County City Council, and The Hope Collaborative Board of Directors. This meeting includes reports of website development, training requirements for staff in various positions, community outreach events, information sharing in relations to child abuse cases, Welfare, and Institution codes governing child abuse, funding oversight regarding projects goals and planning, and improvement process. These community collaboration meetings are important to the organization and the community because it provides feedback to the public, and other governing agencies that the organization is meeting, and fulfilling the needs of the community and the client’s. This is done by make sure reports and licensing requirements are up-to-date to keep the organization running smoothly and effectively.

Organization and Diversity
The human service workers at Norton Love Center provide services to many individuals coming from different cultural backgrounds. To foster the environment at the center it positively supports diversity. To maintain and manage diversity the organization must create an environment, in which the workers of all cultural backgrounds can perform his or her job effectively. The human service worker must have an opportunity to develop his or her full potential to contribute to the organization he or she must be equipped with the tools to provide cultural appropriate services to individuals including disabled clients, and his or her families.

Environmental Trends
Norton Love Community Center in affiliation with Family Service Association has paved the way in bringing in the newest innovative technologies for are staff and client’s use. The organization always tries new things in their continued service to the communities the organization serves. The organizations social and economic enterprises are an example of how thinking differently to meet the challenges the organization sees daily. The organization states that social entrepreneur focuses on creating social capital. The organization aims for catering for a cause using social entrepreneurship is to further the organizations social and environmental goals. The Norton Love Center states that the social enterprises do make profits, and the profits are put to good use helping the community with many services like, child development, mental health, senior nutrition, senior specialty, community center resources, housing, health, and wellness services, [ (Family Service Association, 2011) ].
