Charlie Sheen The actor’s given name is Carlos Irwin Estevez. He is 49 years old. We all know him as the infamous, Charlie Sheen. He comes from a family with acting in his blood. His father, Martin
Sheen, his brother, Emilio Estevez, and a sister Ramon Estevez. They too, are actors. Although, he has been the highest paid actor on television, he rose to stardom after a series of successful films, such as Platoon and Ferris Beuller’s Day Off. He has been nominated for the ALMA,
Emmy and Golden Globe Awards. He earned 1.8 million dollars per episode of “Two and a Half
Men.” He starred in the show for eight years, until being fired by CBS Network. Charlie Sheen had a highly publicized “Meltdown”, which has leads to suggestion, that he has a Bipolar
Disorder. A Bipolar Disorder is a mood disorder thought to be caused by chemical imbalances in the brain that can result in extreme swing mood-from manic highs to depressive lows. Charlie has portrayed this image many times on and off of television. For instance, when he made bizarre statements in a Television Interview stating that he is a “Warlock with tiger’s blood, and “Adonis
DNA, and that he is “winning”. He would appear in media outlets every day ranting and raving.
There were posted videos of Charlie smoking cigarettes through his nose. Sometimes, he would use profanity against his former employers. There was never a dull moment when Charlie Sheen was on the television. The fact, of the matter is that, he seemed to make headlines in the news daily. There were reports of alleged
Domestic Violence. This is where we learned that Charlie threatened to kill his ex, Brooke
Mueller. In fact, Charlie has a history of this type of behavior. He was arrested back in 1990, when he shot his then fiancé, Kelly Preston with a .22 gun. He was sued in 1994 for striking a
UCLA student. Brittney Ashland claimed in 1996, Charlie “knocked her out and threatened to kill her. The list continues to lengthen up to the last attack in 2011, which ended in divorce from
Brooke Mueller. She and Charlie have a set of twin boys together. He has two daughters from his second wife, Denise Richards, and an older daughter from his first wife, Paula Profitt.
Charlie has broken the law on many occasions. His personal life has not been the best for years.
He has had three failed marriages. His erratic behaviors and use of drugs and alcohol has made him a candidate with a Personality Disorder. The definition is lack of one’s identity, with rapid changes in mood, intense unstable interpersonal relationships, marked impulsively, instability in affect and in self- image. It is hard to understand, why someone with such a great talent and an abundance of money are psychologically impaired. Sheen’s personality took a toll on his career in February, 2011. After the conflict with the creator of “Two and a Half Men,” he went on a Nationwide Tour called “My Violent Torpedo of
Truth/Defeat is Not An Option.” He embarked on a series of infamous interviews. He continued his ranting and rambling with defiance, making remarks stating he was on a drug called “Charlie
Sheen.” He continued, “I am tired of pretending, I’m not special.” I’m tired of pretending, I’m not a total bitchin’ rock star from Mars.” I think Charlie needs an intervention. It is evident that
Charlie Sheen has a serious disorder, he has a Bipolar Disorder. On May 20, 1998, Sheen overdosed while using cocaine and was hospitalized. He was already on probation in California for a previous drug offense. He had his probation on extended for a year and entered a rehab center. He later admitted that the overdose was caused by injection of cocaine. On October 26, 2010, Sheen was removed from his suite at the Plaza
Hotel after he reportedly caused $7,000 in damage, according to the NYPD. He again admitted to drinking and using cocaine the night of the incident. He was released after entering a hospital for observation. Charlie Sheen is a great actor. In 2012, he returned to television, starring in a show called, Anger Management. He has been absent or tardy too often for other cast members. They are refusing to work with him. Did you know that he published a book of poetry titled, Peace of Mind. Although, he is an accomplished actor and writer, it is my hopes that he will get the treatment needed to extinguish his lifetime of problems.

...When Charlie Sheen receives support from a fellow star, they get rewarded. Director Michael Moore is one such man who has reportedly reached out to the former Two and a Half Men actor for “refusing to walk the plank.” OK! NEWS: CHARLIE SHEEN CREATES “THE MASHEEN” IPHONE APP During Charlie’s “My Violent Torpedo of Truth Defeat Is Not an Option” Tour at the MGM Grand Theater at Foxwoods Resort and Casino on April 17, comedian Jeffrey Ross read a lengthy email he received from Michael, basically endorsing Charlie. “I met Charlie back in 2004. He had my wife and I over to his house for dinner. It was really nice and we had a great time,” Jeffrey read from the letter during the show. “I feel bad to see what Charlie’s been through. Everyone has crossed a … line and he’s had his share.” “I haven’t spoke to Charlie in years, but here’s what I see now… Going on TV, crying fake tears, pouring their souls out to Dr. Phil, apologizing for everything they’ve done since second grade and telling the world they’ve found their Lord? Instead of doing all that, Charlie Sheen refused to walk that plank… and put Charlie Sheen as the first one to say, ‘I’m tired of apologizing for the fact that I’m special,’ ” Michael wrote. “That’s why it’s so important that everybody believes that they themselves can change. That people who have changed and can be kinder to each other and give each other a friggin f***in break.” “That’s why people are pulling for Charlie Sheen,” he explained. “That’s...

...Applying Laura Nash’s model in to this case allows us to see how both Charlie Sheen and his former boss Chuck Lorre acted wrong during this scandal. One of the goals of this model is to acknowledge how the situation occurred in the first place. Chuck Lorre knew of Sheen’s past behavior and the problems he was having while he was working for him. Lorre put up with these situations for a long time but it was not until Charlie crossed the line by insulting him that he fired him. It seems wrong that Lorre canceled Charlie’s contract right after this incident and not before when he had similar bad behavior. This model also examines whom could their decision injure. Charlie Sheen and his decision to act immorally outside of his workplace affected his fellow actor because the remaining episodes got cancelled and they could not get paid either. Lorre also punished the rest of the cast by stopping the production of the remaining episodes. The Front-Page-of-the-Newspaper Test would require Chuck Lorre and Charlie Sheen to envision how their acts and decisions would be described by a reporter in a newspaper. Charlie Sheen’s act of making bad comments about his former boss was an unethical thing to do. Charlie Sheen has been targeted by the media due to his immoral behaviors a countless amount of times. Nevertheless, he does not seem to matter about his chaotic personal life being on the spotlight. On the other hand, Chuck Lorre who knew all along about Charlie’s life problems and how...

Manager

...A business manager is a person who drives the work of others in order to run a major business efficiently and make a large profit. He or she should have working knowledge of the following areas, and may be a specialist in one or more: sales, marketing, and public relations; research, operations analysis, data processing, mathematics, statistics, and economics; production; finance; accounting, auditing, tax, and budgeting; purchasing; and personnel.[citation needed] Other technical areas in which a business manager may have expertise are law, science, and computer programming.[citation needed] In many businesses, the role of business manager may grow out of a small business-owner's desire to shed some of the multiple roles mentioned above to focus on specific aspects of company expansion or market penetration. The business manager for a time may share duties with the owner, as the owner gains trust in the business manager. Ideally, the business manager and the owner work synergistically to ensure that the business of running a successful business is attended to. This can often be a process of the owner relinquishing the functions for which there is a comparative disadvantage for his or her continued involvement. In the context of the music industry, a business manager is a representative of musicians and/or recording artists, whose main job is to supervise their business affairs, and the proper handling of their financial matters. The role as it is understood today was largely...

Iconoclastic Analysis

...Charlie Brooker’s article on "The Voice" was writien for a purpose. 1 purpose. To mock and ridicule the T.V programme “The Voice”. As he writes in an iconoclastic theme which essentially means he RANTS about whatever ANNOYS him. This article being one of many… Throughout the humorous article Brooker bombards the piece with sarcasm and humor of all sorts, for any audience to be as happy as a clam in high water. Brooker is able to grab hold of the reader from the very first sentence due to the way he begins it “I don’t know if you saw,” as this type of sentence starter is a conversational one; due to the fact he is starting it rather informally creating a bond with the reader, as well as asking the reader indirectly whether or not he watched it. Straight after, we read the sentence “although I’m guessing you didn’t” this represents a sarcastic assumption in answer to his earlier remark. As well as emphasizing how corrupt “The Voice” is, hence creating a comment which is seen as humorous by the reader. We are also able to analyze how well both of the sentences correspond to each other, therefore are not changing subjects confusing the reader, making him feel like a bee trying to get nectar from the sun. Brooker reinforces his dislike for the genre by claiming “The Voice claims they don’t judge- they coach. Then it shows them judging the shit out of everybody”. Brooker uses colorful language (swear words) to continue his mission to hypnotize people away from being drawn to...

By Evening, She Was Running a High Fever ...

...Far up in the mountains of Canada, there is an old abandoned log cabin. Once it was occupied by a young couple who wanted to distance themselves from the chaos of this modern world. Here they were miles away from the nearest town. Bob, the husband, made the occasional trip into town to buy supplies whereas Jan, his wife, spent her free time by the fire, sewing. Their life was simply idyllic. Then, one midwinter's day, Jan woke up from bed with a strange ache in her bones. Putting it down to overwork, Bob shooed her to bed and made sure she rested. Though Jan was impatient to get to her chores, Bob soothed her, "Relax, Sugar. You're overdoing things. All these chores will be here when you recover." However, Jan seemed to be getting worse instead of recovering. By evening, she was running a high fever and in greater pain. In spite of his best efforts, Bob could not manage to ease her suffering. And then suddenly, she started to lapse into unconsciousness. It was then obvious that she was seriously ill. What could Bob do? He had no experience in treating the sick and Jan was getting worse by the minute. He knew that there was an old doctor in town but he lived three miles away, downhill. Pot-bellied and obese, there was no way the doctor could make it up to their cabin. Something had to be done quickly! Bob racked his brains but to no avail. The only thing left to do was to go to the doctor. In Jan's condition, she could never walk that far in the waist-deep snow. Bob...

Chicken of the Sea

...________________________________________________________________________________________ Chicken of the Sea International The Jessica Simpson Spokesperson Decision [pic] _______________________________________________________________________________________ This case was written by Professor George E. Belch and Michael A. Belch. It is intended to be used as the basis for class discussion rather than to illustrate either effective or ineffective handling of a management situation. Introduction Chicken of the Sea International (COSI) is one of the oldest seafood companies in the United States. The company processes and markets a variety of seafood items under the Chicken of the Sea brand name including canned tuna, salmon, sardines, mackerel, crab, and clam products. The original company was founded in 1914 by Frank Van Camp and his son who bought the California Tuna Canning Company to can albacore tuna and changed the name to the Van Camp Seafood Company. However, the company began using the Chicken of the Sea trademark and brand name as a way to describe the taste of its tuna to consumers. Van Camp was the first company to can "light" tuna. So consumers would know to expect a mild-flavored white fish – that tasted similar to chicken – the company marketed it under the brand name Chicken of the Sea. It was such a success that the company eventually adopted the product name. The company operated under the Van Camp Seafood...

...1/22 Film Reviews In today’s class we watched two silent films; Safety Last and Modern Times. At first I was skeptical about watching two silent films and being engaged the entire time. However, both films kept my attention and were highly entertaining. Safety Last was directed by Fred C. Newmeyer and Sam Taylor. Hal Roach was its’ producer. The immediate cast consisted of a few performers; Harold Lloyd, Mildred Davis, Bill Strother, Noah Young, and Westcott Clarke. Throughout this film I maintained both a sense of anxiety as well as humor. There were many parts that I couldn’t help laughing at (when he was attacked by birds and when he was trying to come in late to work). However, there were also many parts that caused me to feel anxious and left my palms sweaty. Throughout the entire film I was anxious about the main character lying about his job to his fiancée and I was also very nervous when he climbed the building and kept getting faced with obstacles along the way. The film left me with a feeling of relief that he had successfully climbed to the top of the building. However, I was also left a little frustrated that his fiancée was still clueless about his job position and money situation. The city had a definite impact on the style of this film. To me, the style seemed to be the style in the city. There was hustle and bustle, people were dressed very well, and the emphasis on ambition all reflects the style of a city. The style was consistent throughout the film. The theme...

Between 2006-07, he spent time in Belfast, working on his last film as director and producer, Closing the Ring, a love story set in Belfast during the Second World War and starring Shirley MacLaine, Christopher Plummer and Pete Postlethwaite. According to some of the films he produced, we came to the conclusion that he was probably interested in developing films which correspond to a certain time in history and in most of them, war was one of the main themes. Besides that, we can say that in...
