Advertisements are around every corner, in today’s world, making them, nearly, impossible to avoid. Especially with recent technological advances, it is now easier than ever to sell to someone, without them ever having to leave their home. That being said, one of the most effective ways of advertising, still holds its thrown, even though it comes from the 20th century, and, possibly, earlier. Billboards. One example would be a Chick-fil-a ad, depicting two cows writing the words, “Eat mor chikin,” on a white billboard, in childlike handwriting. This Chick-fil-a ad is effective because, it emphasizes the innocence of the cows, brings attention to itself, with strategic use of color, and helps us identify with the animals by transforming them …show more content…
The point is to draw the audience in, so they pay attention to what’s being sold. One of the best ways of doing this is by the strategic use of color, and Chick-fil-a is no stranger to this. The most prominent of these colors, is black. The biggest, and, arguably, the most noticeable use is the big black font, used to spell out, “Eat Mor Chikin.” The black letters contrast against the white background, and help pull the audience to the billboard. Directly under these words is the Chick-fil-a logo, which is written in bright red. The crimson words draw the attention to what is really being sold, and creates a memorable image in the mind of the audience. The color stands out against the rest of the colors used, making the title remain permanent in the mind. Lastly, on a more broad note, the white billboard, which, in this case, was placed on the side of a major freeway on a bleak landscape, pulls the eyes off the surrounding, and towards the advertisement. The meaningful use of color helps pull the audiences line of sight, and directs attention to the company name.
