What is chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a branch of health care affiliated with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of a large range of health issues, particularly neuromusculoskeletal disorders, and the immediate and ongoing effects these disorders can have on an individuals general health. there is a focus on manual techniques, including joint manipulation and adjustment, with an importance placed on the correcting of misalignments in the body (particularly in the spinal column) which often inhibit the bodies internal and natural (innate) ability to self heal. Chiropractors most commonly implement the ‘Chiropractic Adjustment’ method of treatment, in order to minimise these misalignments and interruptions, allowing for improved and optimised health, wellbeing and body function.

Chiropractic focuses on the treatment and adjustment of the spine in order to allows the body to self heal without disruptions in the body. However, Physiotherapy primarily focuses on soft tissue treatments, particularly in a local area of injury and/or pain. In contrast to the Chiropractic adjustment, Physiotherapists rely on a wider range of strategies like taping, icing, ultra-sounding, massage, rehabilitation exercises and soft tissue therapies to assist their treatment.
