Fascination for Science & Technology and keen interest in the ever-growing world of technology motivated me to take up engineering as my career path. Right from school, my penchant towards Mathematics, Science in general and my innate quantitative and analytical abilities led me to take up Mathematics and Biology as my major subjects in high school. The power of Infrastructure and the everlasting development of Construction over the world astounded me. This being the trigger for my passion, I chose the major in Civil Engineering in my Under-graduation with an intense urge to delve this challenging field.
During my under graduation program I had the opportunity to learn the various nuances of the science behind the Civil Engineering which together with the practical course work reinforced my interest more into this field. In due course, I was exposed to several application oriented and specialized modules such as Engineering Graphics, Surveying, Concrete and Highway Engineering, Strength of Materials, Hydraulic Engineering etc. which enhanced my subject knowledge and urged me to understand more on its practical applications.

Yet lack of in-depth knowledge of the interest area leaves the conceptual skills incomplete. Having said that and my passion for civil engineering, my next logical step should be pursuing a master degree in civil engineering with a specialization on Construction Engineering and Management. As a budding civil engineer, I have acquired fundamentals of construction project over site supervision. I now wish to dig deeper into the design of various infrastructures, theoretical concepts of construction methods, latest techniques of project control, building safety and sustainability. In particular, I would like to explore further skills in the application fields of construction

My decision to apply for a Civil Engineering Degree after 10+2 is driven by my aspirations as I am very interested in construction field since my school time as I used to go with my father at the construction sites and my father encouraged me a lot to choose this field. It was a day of achievement for me as I accomplished the call of the almighty to become a Civil Engineer like my father. I have completed my Bachelors of Technology degree from Lovely Professional University, a premier institution in north India with a good percentage of above 70%. Now I have taken admission in Construction Project Management in Conestoga College and this field interests me because of its huge demand in construction industries. Statement of Purpose

...Sample Statement of Purpose: MBA The term “globalism” has become overused, and often misused. In fact, we might say that it has actually been devalued to the level of the everyday language of buzzword-brandishing marketing pundits. Such freewheeling usage has perhaps prompted many a CEO (or future CEO) to launch into a global plan or strategy without proper consideration of the demands and dynamics of the international marketplace. Many would-be globetrotters neglect the acquisition of language skills, knowledge of foreign trade and tax laws, accounting standards, etc., all of which are necessary to effectively “go global.” Superficial knowledge only leads to failure. This has, indeed, happened, and while there is no doubt that neglecting to capture the gains achievable in overseas markets is equally suicidal, misguided attempts at competing globally (along with rapidly developing opportunities in the global marketplace) have placed a dramatic premium on individuals who take the time to properly train themselves in international business. For me, the Columbia MBA is a significant component of this training. I foresee my own career moving in the direction of European/American business, initially from an advisory perspective (i.e. investment banking or consulting) and ultimately from a leadership role within a manufacturing entity, preferably a start-up venture. This prophecy, in part, has evolved from my past experiences in western and eastern Europe which, in turn, have formed...

Statement of Purpose

...Statement of Purpose - MBA 1.  Studying for an MBA requires a certain determination and strength of character. In recent years, the business world has become rapidly integrated across once restricting borders, and anyone with high goals in the business world must have an international perspective and be aware of the realities of different international arenas. I am unique, and uniquely fortunate, to have a diverse background both academically and professionally which has exposed me to different continents, peoples, cultures, and languages. As a native of Asia, I am familiar with the increasingly important markets of this region, and as such I am thoroughly prepared for the demands and challenges presented by undertaking study in the MBA program at your institution.   From a young age, I set goals beyond those of my peers. I decided to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in International Hotel Management, but in recognition of the limitation of programs in this field in my native country, I decided to pursue my undergraduate degree in Europe. The international hotel management course I joined was run by Goodwell University in the UK, and due to the experience of the instructors and the overall sophistication of the program, I received an incredibly valuable learning experience, beyond that which I could have received elsewhere. My undergraduate coursework at Goodwell University focused on management marketing, accounting, and various aspects of tourism. I received broad business-based...

Spiritual and Educational Needs Satisfaction of Mechanical Engineering Students of Lyceum of the Philippines University

...the clock radio that wakes you up, and the car, bus, or bike you take to school. You use calculators, computers, stereos, and phones throughout the day. Finally, you come home and use the microwave, stove, refrigerator, and electric can opener as you help with dinner. Our lives are a lot easier today, thanks to the mechanical engineers who imagined and built these tools. In a world where we depend on machines more than ever before, mechanical engineers keep things running. Mechanical Engineering is one of the broadest professions. The women and men in the mechanical engineering profession work in almost every industry, in private practice, in government, in medicine, in law, and in universities. Mechanical engineers touch almost every aspect of technology. They create machines, products and technological systems that benefit society. Their work can take them around the world - anywhere there are machines, there are mechanical engineers. The above statements prove that mechanical engineering is not an easy profession. This is the reason why we should consider the spiritual and educational needs. Spirituality means different things to different people. Some persons have religious needs. Spirituality can refer to an ultimate or an alleged immaterial reality an inner path enabling a person to discover the essence of his/her being; or the “deepest values and meanings by which people live.” Educational needs, on the other hand are those that has something to do with their attitudes...

...ENGINEERING ETHICS The Kansas City Hyatt Regency Walkways Collapse Department of Philosophy and Department of Mechanical Engineering Texas A&M University NSF Grant Number DIR-9012252 Negligence And The Professional "Debate" Over Responsibility For Design Instructor's Guide - Introduction To The Case On July 17, 1981, the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Kansas City, Missouri, held a videotaped tea-dance party in their atrium lobby. With many party-goers standing and dancing on the suspended walkways, connections supporting the ceiling rods that held up the second and fourth-floor walkways across the atrium failed, and both walkways collapsed onto the crowded first-floor atrium below. The fourth-floor walkway collapsed onto the second-floor walkway, while the offset third-floor walkway remained intact. As the United States' most devastating structural failure, in terms of loss of life and injuries, the Kansas City Hyatt Regency walkways collapse left 114 dead and in excess of 200 injured. In addition, millions of dollars in costs resulted from the collapse, and thousands of lives were adversely affected. The hotel had only been in operation for approximately one year at the time of the walkways collapse, and the ensuing investigation of the accident revealed some unsettling facts: During January and February, 1979, the design of the hanger rod connections was changed in a series of events and disputed communications between the fabricator (Havens Steel Company) and the engineering design...
