Improved Integration of Technology

...Running head: IMPROVED INTEGRATION OF TECHNOLOGY 1 Improved Integration of Technology into Lesson Plans Delondria Catrice Randolph Ashford University Dr. Sheila Thomas January 28, 2013 [no notes on this page] -1- IMPROVED INTEGRATION OF TECHNOLOGY 2 Improved Integration of Technology into Lesson Plans Teachers regularly search for new techniques to implement in the classroom to better meet the needs of our students. Educators make a commitment to learning by constantly striving to improve their abilities in subject matter and educational technology. With the increased accessibility of computer technology and Internet resources there is an even greater avenue for instruction. Learning institutions have placed great emphasis on the use of technology as a teaching and learning tool in the classrooms because technology motivates teachers and students to work together as they develop ideas on how to improve the teaching and learning process (Bednar & Sweeder, 2005). Teachers must identify the needs of their students by assessing, planning, implementing classroom instruction through the use of technology. I selected this topic because the educational system in America is slipping and as instructors we must develop innovative ways to teach our students so that they can retain the information that is being taught to them. It is important to note that integrating technology into classroom lesson plans means more than teaching basic computer skills and software programs...

Technology

...12.1 Week 12 Bringing Technology to the Classroom The effectiveness and importance of integrating technology into school curricula has been a long awaited discussion. Advocates of technology’s role in instruction argue that technology improves student learning outcomes and prepares them for the technology-rich workplace. The use of technology continues to grow at a rapid pace. It is also playing a major role in the job industry. With that in mind, it would be beneficial to students for educators to integrate technology into the instruction, which is a more effective way of promoting actual technology use than is positioning technology as a “separate” or supplementary tool. Technology integration into the curriculum will help better prepare students for the computer based world. Technology integration into the curriculum will help better prepare students for the computer based world. “Technology is transforming society, and schools do not have a choice as to whether they will incorporate technology but rather how they will use it to enhance learning” ( North Central Regional Educational Laboratory & Illinois State Board of Education, 1995). Many educators would say that if teachers ever tried to integrate technology into the classroom, careful planning was a prerequisite for an effective implementation of technology in education. Many plans fail due to improper planning or poor execution. Technology should support the curricular goals. Technology should be used to improve...

Intergrating Instructional Technology

...Instructional Technology Technology integration is the combination of all technology parts, such as hardware and software, together with each subject related area of curriculum to enhance learning. ( Shelly,B.G, Gunter,A.G, Gunter, E. R., 2012) In the 21st century, technology is making a great impact on our educational system. It challenges our students to think outside the box and at the same time improve on reading, researching, problem solving, communications and critical thinking skills which are imperative to the success of the student’s future. That is why in my opinion, it is imperative that we integrate technology in the classrooms successfully. There are so many different technologies that can be used for many different things in the classroom to help enhance the learning experience such as smart boards, digital media, computers, dvd’s , tutorials, apps, and the web just to name a few. However, to integrate these tools into the curriculum successfully, so that the students can get the best experience possible, I need to be properly trained. “There is growing interest in the integration of technology into the classroom. A range of initiatives have been launched to develop in service teacher training process that will strengthen this integration.” (Guzman,A.; Nussbaum, M. 2009) “Billions of dollars have been spent to bring computer technology into k-16 classrooms, since 1999, congress has devoted over $275 million to the Preparing Tomorrow’s Teachers to use Technology program...
