Hazel Lverne

...make sure they are looking good at all times. Although the narrative is simply told, the woman is simply speaking to the frog about how beautiful she is. This poem is taken place at night in a Howard Johnson Hotel, which means this woman is on vacation and she is staying there for at least a week because she is cleaning her own bathroom. Hazel uses the word flushm down the toilet, which means she must be a girl that grew up in the country because she has a country accent. This all took place in 1976 and during this time women did a lot of cleaning and men did most of the outside work. In this day and time both men and women do the inside and outside work. Hazel also says for God to help her, which means she must be a Christian because she asks him to help her. The rest of the story is referring back to the story of the Princess and the Frog. This is where the grog pops up and asks her to kiss him so that he can be made into man. This symbolizes the fiction of the poem because a frog can’t talk but the author placed that in the poem so that we could see that if you can’t see the beauty within yourself than no one else can. The golden ball symbolizes the crystal ball that you rub to see what the Fairy God mother thought about how you looked in the mirror. In the end Hazel says that she has to hit the frog with the mop and make him fall down the toilet and then she stressed that she was a princess even though she hit the frog. Princesses are not know to hit on things they...

Nanochemistry

...Nanotechnology (first used the term nanotechnology by Richard Feynman, in 1959) can be defined as the manipulation of atoms and molecules at nano (one billionth) scale (1–100 nm) to produce devices, structures or systems having at least one novel or superior property. The materials having at least one dimension in the nano scale are called nanomaterials. 10-9 meter (1 nanometer) to 10-7 meter (100 nanometer) Human eye can visualize up to 20μm only 1μm = 10-6 m DNA= 2.5nm- 3nm Protein= ̴ 5 nm Virus= ̴ 150 nm Human hair= ̴ 5000 nm Properties of Nanomaterials 1. The surface area to volume ratio of the nanomaterials is relatively larger than that of bulk materials of the same mass. This increases the chemical reactivity and affects strength and electrical properties of the material. 2. The quantum confinement is observed at nanometer sizes that changes the optical, electronic and magnetic properties of the material. The band gap increases as the size of the material is reduced to nanometer range. I II III IV Reduction in particle size increase in its Surface area Now, material is NANO so surface area will big… HOW? Let us consider a sphere of radius ‘r’ Surface Area = 4 x π x r2 Volume = (4/3) x π x r3 ratio of SA to Vol = 3/r Thus, radius of sphere decreases, Surface area will increase Let us consider a cube of sides 1 m Area= 6 x side2 = 6 x 1m2 = 6m2 Now, cut the same cube into 8 pieces, then the SA will increases Area= 6 x (1/2)2 x 8 = 12m2 Similarly, the...

Stereotypes In Disney Princess Movies

...apple and is in a comatose state when he first lays his eyes on her, he only kisses her because of how beautiful she is on the outside. As time passes from one princess to another the physical appearances change, however not for the better. In 1950 it became Cinderella's turn to be a young girls role model. Again the thin waist and slender figure is still evident, although now her breasts and alluring features sexualize her body. The princesses are not shown as young teenagers, but rather more as mature adults because of their physical appearance. It is hard not to have a negative effect on young girls when even Cinderella's fairy godmother tells her " you can’t go to the ball looking like that"(Disney, Cinderella) when she is in her mother dress that she cherishes whole heartedly. She can not go to the ball in the dress she wants to because the prince will never fall in love with her looking like a peasant. On the other hand, as soon as she is given an extravagant gown, the prince miraculously falls in love with her simply because of her appearance. One should never only have the opportunity to fall in love with royalty because of the way they look or what they wear. It is about what is on the inside that matters, not once has a Disney princesses been chosen because of any other characteristic other than beauty. Cinderella ironically falls in love with Prince Charming and he saves her from having to live a servant life and this is teaching young girls that if one so happens to...

...HistoryThe earliest identifiably Thai kingdom was founded in Sukhothai in 1238, reaching its zenith under King Ramkhamhaeng in the 14th century before falling under the control of the kingdom of Ayutthaya, which ruled most of present-day Thailand and much of today's Laos and Cambodia as well, eventually also absorbing thenorthern kingdom of Lanna. Ayutthaya was sacked in 1767 by the Burmese, but King Taksin regrouped and founded a new capital at Thonburi. His successor, General Chakri, moved across the river to Bangkok and became King Rama I, the founding father of the Chakri dynasty that rules (constitutionally) to this day. There is evidence of human habitation in Thailand that has been dated at 40,000 years before the present. Similar to other regions in Southeast Asia, Thailand was heavily influenced by the culture and religions of India, starting with the Kingdom of Funan around the 1st century CE to the Khmer Empire.[18]Since the political reform of the absolute monarchy in 1932, Thailand has had 17 constitutions and charters.[24][25] Throughout this time, the form of government has ranged from military dictatorship to electoral democracy, but all governments have acknowledged a hereditary monarch as the head of state. Clean Water Balanced Equation

...The pH of our water before filtration was already within safe drinking range, and it ended at the same value of a pH of 7. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the safe pH range for drinking water is between 6.5-8.5 (Hendrickson). Typical drinking water has a pH of slightly higher than 7 due to dissolved minerals that make the water slightly alkaline, which is why the alkaline end of the range is at 1.5 away from 7, while the acidic end of the range is only 0.5 away from 7. While some alkalinity is fine, too high a pH, which can be caused by detergent or cleaning agents runoff contamination, can be dangerous to the human body. Too low a pH can also be harmful. Ultimately, the pH of water must be kept close to neutral to be safe for...
