| My traumatizing fear as a child. | | | | Teresa Wright 11/14/2015 | | | | As a child, I always had a fear of clowns because of their odd, creepy, and evil appearances. In the month of October 2008, that fear drastically evolved into a trauma; Once I watched the movie called, ‘IT’, by Stephen King. From that day forward I found myself screaming and crying at the top of my lungs every time I seen a clown. Imagining that they were evil killers just like the intimidating clown of the movie. The trauma was so intense that when there was a fund raiser event held at my elementary school , Browning Pearce , the clown Ronald McDonald was there to meet and greet every child , including me, and once it was my turn to actually see him I fainted and collapsed onto the floor . As I came to my senses, my mother, Brenda forced me to watch the movie, ‘IT', including a bunch of other clown cartoons. I had to watch them for a whole week nonstop, even before I did my homework or went to church. Watching almost 168 hours of clowns on television; I finally realized that my horror of clowns had vanished into thin air. The next day I told my mother that the anxiety was gone, so she told me to get in the car and she drove us to a local McDonalds where Ronald McDonald was at. She had me meet him again, but, this time I didn't faint; I actually thought he was a funny cool clown. In conclusion, I became indomitable of clowns and with the help of my mother disciplining me to face my trepidation of them; the word FEAR had ceased to exist anymore within me. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |

Ubu the Shit

...To be honest, I had no idea how a play that was about “clowns” would go about and how it would capture my attention since I have a fear of clowns. However, the cast and crew played their parts brilliantly and had me laughing countless times while feeling a bit uncomfortable due to the oddness and suspense of the plotline. The cast was successful in causing the audience to feel a mixture of emotions while keeping them entertained and excited. Due to the set-up of the stage and outfits, the cast was able to capture the audience’s attention by articulating the different types of genres that the play consisted of. Many comical songs and parts were implemented in order to create a less serious and comical atmosphere. Throughout the play, different scenes occurred by setting up three different layouts and areas in order to show the separation of beliefs. The themes became more apparent due to the staging of the lighting focusing on only the characters during the first half of the play. The second half slowly lightened up the stage, showing that hope was coming for the son of the king in order to reclaim the throne. At the beginning and the end of the play, it was almost pitch black, with barely anything visible other than the cast of the characters circling around the centerpiece of the stage in order to inflict fear into the audience. In the beginning and the end of the play, the cast used repetition to show the horror, clown, and Commedia Dell’ Arte genres to create a unique reaction...

Coulrophobia Research Paper

...Imagine that you are walking in the middle of festival. All of the sudden you see a man in a rainbow suit, and and his face is painted white, with red lips and a receding hairline. You realize that you are staring right into the eyes of clown and you realize that the whole time you have been staring at screaming. As you are running away, you finally figured out that you have Coulrophobia. Coulrophobia is the extreme fear of clowns. ...Carol DeMeo November 27, 2010 HU300-16 Unit 3 Assignment Arts & Humanities Part I: Take a field trip around your neighborhood, city, or region. Find one example of architecture that catches your attention. Explain what you see in detail. Discuss the elements of form and function. Which concepts from the chapter reading are applied in this work? I live in Boca Raton, Florida and down here we have so many different buildings of sorts to look at from the high rising condos to businesses, schools, etc. Though the one place that captures my eyes and thoughts is the Mizner Park Administration Building that was built in the early 1900’s and was used as the administration and sales office for Addison Mizner. He built this building to serve as a visual example for his prospective clients of Boca Raton. The function was used well; he had offices for the engineers, an apartment for himself, restaurants to eat in. He used the form of Spain as in El Greco’s house in Toledo Spain giving it the Mediterranean design which is very appealing to many, a different place to look at from other areas in Florida. I believe with this Addison Mizner used Secular Architecture for he was able to combine function and form and the structure was used just for what he had built. Now today the administration building in Boca is occupied by a restaurant, bar and grill, Oppenheimer & Co. Office and also used for special events and gathering which is still the form an function...

The Clown

...My last day If I was about to die and I would be given the chance to live for another day, I would spend the first quarter buying gifts and making letters or videos for the people who made an impact in my life. After doing those things, I would invite the person I love for a picnic under a tree somewhere on a hill and have a great time. Before I die, I would actually want to do something extreme. After having lunch with the person I love, I would want to go sky diving with a really good friend of mine because we promised that we would go on a sky dive together. I actually want to ride all the roller coasters in the world, but since that would require travelling the world and would accommodate days, I would go on skydiving because it can be done in less than a day. After going on a sky dive, I would eat the best burger in town together with my sister because we had a deal when we were young that we will eat the tastiest burger in the country. After eating with my sister, I would host a party somewhere spacious, like a dome. My family, my very close friends, even my classmates back in preschool, all of them would be there. I would hire all my favorite bands to play all my favorite songs. I would love it if everyone would just have fun and it would be one of the most memorable parties that they have ever been to. During the last hours of my life, I would spend it with the people I love somewhere windy and near a waterfall. I would give them my presents and letters...

Clown & Blond Guitar

...A Friendly Clown On one corner of my dresser sits a smiling toy clown on a tiny unicycle--a gift I received last Christmas from a close friend. The clown's short yellow hair, made of yarn, covers its ears but is parted above the eyes. The blue eyes are outlined in black with thin, dark lashes flowing from the brows. It has cherry-red cheeks, nose, and lips, and its broad grin disappears into the wide, white ruffle around its neck. The clown wears a fluffy, two-tone nylon costume. The left side of the outfit is light blue, and the right side is red. The two colors merge in a dark line that runs down the center of the small outfit. Surrounding its ankles and disguising its long black shoes are big pink bows. The white spokes on the wheels of the unicycle gather in the center and expand to the black tire so that the wheel somewhat resembles the inner half of a grapefruit. The clown and unicycle together stand about a foot high. As a cherished gift from my good friend Tran, this colorful figure greets me with a smile every time I enter my room. The Blond Guitar My most valuable possession is an old, slightly warped blond guitar--the first instrument I taught myself how to play. It's nothing fancy, just a Madeira folk guitar, all scuffed and scratched and finger-printed. At the top is a bramble of copper-wound strings, each one hooked through the eye of a silver tuning key. The strings are stretched down a long, slim neck, its frets tarnished, the wood worn by years...

Argumentative Essay On Rodeo Clowns

...The first bullfighter was a rodeo clown, who used a barrel to help protect himself from the bull. Clowns became skilled at using the barrels as props for their entertainment routines; showing their athletic abilities by diving into the barrels. There is much debate between historians on when the first rodeo actually occurred. Cowboys of old often competed against each other for bragging rights about who was the best bull rider. Soon, spectators began gathering around the corrals to watch and towns in the frontier began to have yearly events. When the events became more organized and spectators started paying; the need for entertainment was inevitable. People grew restless and bored between competitions. Thus the rodeo clown was born....

Juggalos Are Not a Gang

...We Are Not A Gang! We Are Family!: Juggalos Fight Back Abstract “Juggalo” is the name of the very dedicated fans of the Insane Clown Posse and the other artists on the bands record label Psychopathic Records. In 2011, the FBI’s Gang Activity report listed Juggalos as a growing gang threat in the United States. Since then, Juggalos from across the country started flooding Psychopathic Records and the Insane Clown Posse with e-mails stating that they were being harassed by law enforcement just for having the logo of Psychopathic Records the Hatchet Man (shown on title page) on the back windows of their cars, walking into their probation officers office with Psychopathic Records gear on, even just walking down the street with an Insane Clown Posse T-Shirt on. Why are all Juggalos being targeted, instead of just those with affiliations to an actual gang? Has this kind of blatant labeling of an entire fan base ever happened in music before? What is Psychopathic Records and the Insane Clown Posse doing about the FBI’s new label on Juggalos and what impact is it having on the band, and the business they represent? What is a Juggalo? It’s not just the name of a song by the Insane Clown Posse, it is the name given to their ultra-loyal almost cult-like fan base. To the fans of the band, it is the name that was used to describe the audience at a live concert in 1994 by Joe Bruce, better known to the Juggalos as “Violent J” during the song “The Juggla” from their first full length...

The clown fish and sea anemone have a mutualistic interaction, the anemone homes and protects the clownfish from predators while the clownfish help the anemones catch their prey. COMMENSAL INTERACTION: When one organism benefits and the other is unaffected. The gobies reside among the toxic spines of the sea urchin, gaining protection without harming the host. DECOMPOSER:...

...signifying similar emotions and purpose being displayed. When analysed carefully, you can notice a lot of identical techniques used by the different poets. For example all three use some type of form of rhyme, half-rhymes or even rhyming couplets, this works especially well in ‘Hunchback’ for example ‘rockery […] hunchbacked in mockery’ this emphasis the point of how the character is being treated as a sham without the utter respect given; which happens to be the same sort of disrespectful and mimicry semantic field towards the other two poems as well for example in the ‘Clown punk’ ‘His dyed brain […] and let it rain’ the technique of using rhyming couplets at the very gives a more memorable and impaction ending, this give the reader a dramatic finish to reflect upon. As well there is the rhyming couplet at the very end of ‘Give’ ‘That’s big of you […] I beg of you’ this is also similar to the ending of the ‘clown punk’ but it also contains a sort of sarcastic reaction from the voice ending it on a dreary note. The tones on all poems are a similar type: bleak, monotonous and oppressive, but each carrying a different meaning, teaching and moral to the reader. The tonality of ‘The hunchback’ gives off something that sadly happens every day… The poem shows the brutality of everyday life that happens to be the truth. It displays a certain type of cruel and insulting poem focusing on one homeless...

Dance History

...beliefs. Gerald Arpino, a dancer, choreographer, and director used one of his masterpieces “The Clowns”, as a way to exemplify a social protest. The Clowns was one of the first ballets to address the issue of the nuclear holocaust, which in turn raised eyebrow and served as an anti-war statement. The Clowns juxtaposed the nuclear holocaust with the clown figures to comment on the tragedy and the comedy of the human existence. (Candler 1) It served as a threat because it was against war and everything else that was occurring during the period of the holocaust. Not only that, but this dance, ultimately addressed the issue of universal annihilations. Arpino exceeded the boundaries and expectations with this piece and made a statement, through dance, expressing his disapproval for the matters at hand. The Clowns tell the tale of how one transforms or conforms in the world of fear, such as the nuclear holocaust. The dance was composed to exhibit the fear of destruction and the chance of reformation. The music was done by Hersey Kay and added to the elements of the dance. The ballet was introduced through sound, sculptures and balloons, with the help of modern technology. This made the composition of the dance excel beyond expectations and really revealed a true message. The Clowns was demonstrated by seventeen performers. Man is represented through the clowns and the clowns also help to represent humanity. The large plastic symbolized an...
