Introduction
I have been called in as an intern to help business owners Lisa Tejada and Ruben keys with their business to make it more successful. Lisa and Ruben are great music lovers of all kinds from country to jazz. Lisa and Ruben graduated from college with Business Administration degrees. They both decided that they wanted to do something with the knowledge that they have in business. Lisa and Ruben decided that they love music and decided to open a night club. This club is for the public to come and enjoy music, dancing, and dinning. Lisa and Ruben need to make some changes in their company. They are doing well but they can use improvements in the company. Lisa and Ruben want to become more successful within their business and decided to hire me as an intern to oversee what is needed to make their business see more profits and become successful and open a second club in the future.
Lisa, Ruben and I have sat down for a meeting and I have advised them of certain things that I have seen that need to be done to help the business run the best it can. I know if we change some of the office items that Lisa and Ruben can have a successful business. The first items that I have advised Lisa and Ruben that the dial up connection is to slow for what they want to do. They want to start ordering online from his vendors, distributors, and all the supply chains needed to run the business. With a dialup connection it is the slowest connection there is. Dialup connections will not load the web-site as fast as needed. It takes longer to open and download attachments needed for the ordering process. The software on the computers is old and needs to be updated with new technology and newer software to work faster than it has been. Dial up connection is to slow in speed to do everything needed within the company. It will check Internet for supplies, ordering, all employees using to check their portal and putting order in but dial up connection also limits access to certain media and websites needed for the company. I suggest that you get a high speed connection to be able to do everything in the office such as business to business communication, bill pay, ordering, checking portals for employees, and even downloading from government sites if the option applies. With a high speed internet connection employee’s can get ordering done quicker and checking his or her portal easier and faster. This will give the employee more time for their duties within the club during work hours and at the end of their shifts. I know putting in new internet connection and upgrading the internet system will be more of an expense but in the long run it will be quicker and be more beneficial for the club which means more profit in the long run. The second item that I am advising on changing is that there is only one phone line for the business. With just one phone line it takes up the connection of the phone while the ordering and the portals of the employees are being used. This also states that customers cannot call in for reservations or concert tickets. Vendors cannot call to say that they are bringing supplies early or late or even if the order is coming at all. Employees have no way of calling in to say that they have had car trouble or will not make it to work. More phone lines means more profits and will not interfere with the internet connection of ordering or anything else. Better the availability for the club and this creates more customers in the club which means more success. I asked Ruben and Lisa if they would consider spending money to make money and be more successful if so then, I say additional phone lines can be substantial for office use and employee use with ordering, obtaining portal faster, and public lines for customers to call into and book reservations. Putting more phone lines would be more of an expense but it would be more beneficial to the club. With faster connection the employee can get their ordering and checking his or her portal quicker. The third thing that I found in the office was that the web-site could use some work. After checking and watching how the clientele has been at the club I have notice that the ones that come to the club are into technology. The technology that I am talking about is more like computer and use regularly using their mobile devices such as their Blackberries, iPhones, and other wireless communication devises. They use online shopping on a regular basis and checking web pages constantly, e-mails, and texting. This was giving me ideals that if we changed the web-site to be more energetic with more information on it then customers can buy tickets and book reservations right from their hand held technology as they know it. We could even put food choices and let customers help choice what foods they would like. We could have contests where they could enter for maybe a free ticket for a certain night of fun and entertainment. The website can show employees and past employees, special photos of customers that have won tickets. Customers can become a member or renew their membership.
