There are eight different learning styles and categories in which people tend to fall into. Three of the learning styles that I scored high in are: logical/mathematical, intrapersonal and verbal/linguistic (Carter, Bishop, Kravits, 2007). As a logical/mathematical learner I look at things in a calculating and analytical manner. As an intrapersonal learner I am good at evaluating and processing new things within myself. I understand myself and sometimes forget to translate my thoughts for other people. The final learning style I tend to use is the verbal/linguistic style. I am a visual person and it’s easier for me to learn or explain new things if I can diagram or chart items.
People with different learning styles process information differently - however, there are ways they can work well with each other in group situations. A logical/mathematical learner and a verbal/linguistic learner will most likely have their thoughts easily translatable into different data or charts. An intrapersonal learner will benefit from these styles because they are more extraverted and they will draw the intrapersonal learner out of their own mind. This will be effective in having an open line of communication between the styles. The different learning styles will benefit from each other in the sense they will push each other out of their comfort zones.
I assessed four different categories of personality types this week. The category I fell heavy into was the organizer. A few of the personality traits I have are detailed, practical, organized, sequential, structured and confident (Morris 1996). I work well in a situation that I have mapped out (whether on paper or in my brain). In this type of situation, I am confident about the results I come to. Two other categories of personality types are the adventurer and the giver (Carter, Bishop, Kravits, 2007). The

...Communication and Collaboration Strategy Paper Gen/200 Communication and Collaboration Strategy Paper Communication plays a very important role in our life. If one were not able to communicate effectively, it would be very difficult for them interact with others, learn, and express their feelings. One of the bigger challenges one may face, is how big of a role personality styles play when it comes to communicating to a group of people. A few of the personality types that will be covered in this material include: giver, thinker, and organizer. Also covered will be the following learning styles: verbal linguistic, intrapersonal, and personal (Axia, 2007). The success of a team environment is determined by the ability of these styles being able to work together. Verbal-linguistic individuals usually love learning new languages, reading, and writing. They are usually very effective at being able to communicate through speech, and are very good at teaching others and explaining things. They are usually best taught through lectures, writing, and reading. A person who possesses interpersonal intelligence, are usually good at relating to and understanding the views of others. They usually communicate well to others in a group setting, and like to ask lots of questions. Communication and Collaboration Strategy

...Communication and Collaboration Strategy Paper Vicky Davis GEN/200 Aug 23, 2010 Axia College of University of Phoenix Communication and Collaboration Strategy Paper Communication and collaboration is a major key to any learning assessments. Every person has different styles of learning three of the learning styles are visual-spatial, body-kinesthetic and verbal linguistic. Each person has a different type of personality to help develop communication and collaboration effectively. Three types of personality types are thinker, organizer, and giver. Developing strategy and combining learning style and personality style will ensure that the communication and collaboration of each learning assessment is effective. A person with a visual/spatial learning style and an organizer for personality style would work well together. An organizer communicates by making notes, scheduling dates, and formatting in an orderly fashion. Information that has been communicated can be summarized, and displayed in a visual format, this way the organizer with have time to plan and organize his or her response. An organizer must have an agenda and be able to schedule time accordingly to discuss the information captured. By using visual/spatial techniques such as highlighting or color coding each note for related topics, the next step would be easy to make and action can be made. An organizer like to be responsible, prompt and want to see results, they are very detail oriented, committed, accountable...

Communication and Colaboration Paper

...Communication and Collaboration Strategy Paper GEN/200 Communication and Collaboration Strategy Paper In this paper I will try to develop strategies for effective communication and collaboration in groups of individuals with different learning and personality styles. I will try to cover the different forms of communication that may work better for certain people. Visual, Spatial The best way to communicate with an organizer is by taking some notes of the information that is to be discussed or shared. By summarizing things once they have been discussed. Most of the time information must be displayed in a visual format and must be clear and flowing this will help individuals understand the material. Visual and special learners are “whole-part learners who need to see the big picture first before they learn the details” (Silverman, Linda 1997) The organizer has to have a plan and have things in order and will require some time to take in the information discussed. Using other designs and techniques that are visual and spatial are helpful such as highlighting important information and providing notes covering the same topic in the same color. Organized individuals are often responsible and prompt and expect to see results. Organized individuals are often detail oriented and do not try or like to leave things unfinished. Verbal Linguistic, Giver Individuals that are givers often like to explain things in detail and explain new materials. They are often very...

The need to learn, explore, and better ourselves we need to communicate with each other to satisfy this need. Since people are different, each one has his/her own personality. That personality and situation will dictate the method of communications, or the methods needed to present a idea or project to another person or group. The understanding of how different personalities interact with one another will allow to us to figure out which the best way to communicate and relay information. There are a lot of different personalities in which some categorized as Organizer, Adventurer, and Giver (Carol Carter, 2007). Learning styles are unique too same as the personalities some of these styles are Logical Mathematical, Interpersonal, and Verbal linguistic (Carol Carter, 2007). Before we get into more details about different personalities and learning styles, we have to ask a question Are we open minded to try to understand different people with different background, learning styles, traditions, religion, etc… Can we give a person the benefit of the doubt before we jump to conclusion? All these come to play on how we communicate. To talk more details about the different styles of learning and different personalities as listed above...

Communication and Collaboration Strategy

...University of Phoenix 2010 Communication and Collaboration Strategy Paper GEN/200 Shawn Albro Communication and Collaboration Strategy Every person has different learning styles. To communicate and collaborate effectively within a group of individuals with different learning styles and personality types can be difficult if a person does not know their weaknesses and strengths. Learning styles have also been called intelligences. There are eight intelligences that have been found but I will only discuss three of these. There are also four different personality types. I will only talk about three of these personality types and a strategy for effective communication and collaboration among them. The first intelligence is the logical/ mathematical intelligence. A person with this intelligence is easier to communicate and collaborate with by using problem solving. This type of intelligence is a problem solver when it comes to science or mathematical problems. It is easier to reason with this learning type inductively and deductively. Communicating with this person can be difficult at times in that the person will try to solve each problem to ensure that it is true. The second intelligence is visual/spatial intelligence. This type of person would be easier to communicate and collaborate with through pictures, graphs or charts. This intelligence is very visual and can understand things better by seeing what is going on in a situation. These people can see things that...

Learning styles differ from person to person. Different learning styles are often the result among individuals with different types of each. Different personality styles thrown together can either clash or compliment. Personality is the first thing one person notices about another when communicating with them and learning the different strengths about each personality type can help to improve communication and collaboration. There are three different learning and personality styles that I will talk about. Verbal/Linguistic “Verbal Linguistic is the ability to communicate through language, listening, reading, writing, and speaking” (Keys to College Studying Chapt. 2). In order to communicate and collaborate effectively each team member must use their strengths to make up for another’s weakness. Those with Verbal Linguistic strengths can effectively communicate in writing and can also use persuasion. Teachers can also help their students by having them keep journals, play word games, and use discussion in the class room. ...Communication and Collaboration Strategies Olympia Gissendanner-Gadson GEN 200 August 30, 2010 Theresa Bradley Staples In order for a learning team to be successful, there must be effective communication and collaboration existing. Learning teams are made up of diverse individuals. To maintain productivity, each member of a learning team should know the characteristics of each learning style and personality type. According to my assessment from highest to lowest, my learning styles are: verbal/linguistic, intrapersonal, and naturalistic. My personality types are: organizer, giver, and thinker. Since I have learned my own learning styles and personality types, I have the ability to relate and understand individuals that have different learning styles and personality types. In this paper, I will discuss my strategies of communicating and collaborating with others and the benefits of having diversity in a learning team. My first learning style is verbal/linguistic. This learning style enables me the opportunity to communicate through language. I use my sense of humor to learn as well as assist others in learning. My second learning style is intrapersonal. I have always been the type of person that was aware of my feelings and have never had a problem expressing myself. At times, I can be very stubborn, but I always try to put others needs before my own needs. Many times, I am also known to seek higher levels than the average person. To learn successfully, you need to maximize your strengths and compensate your weaknesses.” (Carter, Bishop, & Kravits, 2007, p.  38). According from keys to college studying. Analyze the statement. People highlight their strengths to others because it will present a person’s elevated value in a particular situation or environment. Individuals rarely expose their weaknesses to others because it could deem them as “weak” or incompetent. Learning new information can expose individuals to some issues if their learning styles differ from the method used to help them obtain the new information. There are three learning styles and three different personality types that will be discussed. As well as developing strategies for them. The first learning style is taking notes. This is a traditional method use in the classroom and also in the workplace. If the individual do not want to rely on memory alone and have pen and paper handy, this learning style would work. For the student who has trouble studying by rewriting notes, may simply want to try a new strategy by using highlighters on the material instead. The second learning style is study groups. Study groups are very common in and out of the classroom. By using this style, this will help...

...Communication and Collaboration Strategy Paper Shameika Johnson GEN 200 June 7, 2010 Kristine Faultner Communication and Collaboration Strategy Paper Communicating and collaborating in a group of strangers can be challenging at times because of different learning styles and personality types. No two people will have the same opinion on every subject because everyone comes from different backgrounds, environments, and beliefs. Our backgrounds have a big influence on how our personalities are and how we all learn different information. There are several different learning styles but three that stand out to me the most are visual/spatial, verbal/linguistic, and intrapersonal. People who are visual/spatial learners are great at recognizing relationships between different objects. They draw maps, charts, graphs, and develop graphic organizers for new material. People who are verbal/linguistic learners generally remember definitions easily, are great teachers and can convince most people into doing anything for them. A lot of the time they will rewrite notes, use highlighters and read different materials and rephrase them into their own way understanding it. You also have some people who are intrapersonal learners. These people are better at expressing their feelings, visualizing information, keeping journals and often tend to study in quiet places. My strategy for this group of learning styles put together would be to use a lot of visual aids like charts...

...Communication and Collaboration Strategy Paper Sonya Harriest University of Phoenix GEN 200 Pamela Allen August 5, 2009 Communication and Collaboration Communication is being able to effectively translate information from one person to another. Learning styles is the way a person learn things in a form that they may understand. “ When we communicate, we assume that the person to whom we are speaking perceives, judges, thinks, and reasons the way we do. This is not always the case” (Carter, Bishop, & Kravits, S., 2007, p. 298). A personality type is the way a person may think, act or do certain things. The way of resolving conflicts is how a person may handle a certain situation when things get out of control. Collaboration is when two or more people are getting together to discuss a certain problem or issue that may have taken place or going to take place, or to talk about a certain project or function. My communication style is to talk with someone in person, or face-to-face is my first preference of communicating. The next alternative I prefer is, would be over the telephone. The reason I prefer face-to-face is because I am able to express myself and see the other person expressions. The other person and I are able to see each other. I feel as though us seeing each other, we are able to see one another’s facial expression and body language. Talking on the phone, allows each of us to hear one another’s voice and allow you to project the mood you are...
