Every summer millions of college students throughout the nation depend on Federal Financial Aid to help pay for school. In the midst of the election season the Republican candidate, Mitt Romney, voiced how he wants to end government funding. Currently, the nation provides direct government funding and Governor Romney is in favor of giving private banks and institutions the responsibility to provide student loans to those in need. Many people are deeply concerned with the issue at hand. Private Institutions vs. Government Disbursement The educational reform is a debate that is widely argued between the two presidential candidates. The current system of how student loans are disbursed in the United States is not perfect, but it is working. Both candidates are in favor of receiving higher education, but differ on how individuals should pay to learn. Throughout the presidential debates both candidates took a firm stand as to where they both stand on the topic of student loans and government funding. College tuition costs are increasing at a rapidly linear rate each and every year. The results suggest that subtle differences in the store name, the location, and the appearance of its salespeople can evoke contrast in the form of variable typicality scores. A structural model is presented that shows the outcomes of this variance in a retail context involving women’s apparel stores. Low typicality is associated with increased excitement and discomfort, and these emotions affect patronage intentions and perceived shopping value. Chan University of Massachusetts Boston Carla Herrera Public/Private Ventures, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Associations between youths’ relationship profiles and mentoring outcomes were explored in the context of a national, randomized study of 1,139 youths (54% female) in geographically diverse Big Brothers Big Sisters school-based mentoring programs. The sample included youths in Grades 4 –9 from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds, the majority of whom were receiving free or reduced-price lunch. Latent profile analysis, a person-oriented approach, was used to identify 3 distinct relational profiles. Mentoring was found to have differential effects depending on youths’ preintervention approach to relationships. In particular, youths who, at baseline, had satisfactory, but not particularly strong, relationships benefited more from mentoring than did youths with profiles characterized by either strongly positive or negative relationships. Implications for research and practice are discussed. We compared the perception of tax evasion to twenty other offences, including violent crimes such as rape and murder and relatively minor offences such as jaywalking. Due to the recent focus by lawmakers and the media on white-collar scandals and the lack of comparisons in prior literature, we also included six white-collar crimes. Overall, the results indicate that tax evasion was viewed as only somewhat serious. When comparing tax evasion to other white-collar offences, we found that tax evasion was perceived as equal in severity to minimum wage law violations and rated less serious than the other four white-collar crimes investigated.
