In both of the poems Okita's & Cisneros's show that you can be an American no matter the cultural heritage or the looks. They show that where you from doesn't matter. It all about you feel . For Example In the poem Okita wrote the little girl didn't matter the different culture her and her friend were all she knew that they were equal were both American citizens into one day. And my point of view on this is I feel the same way if you were raised and born in American no matter cultural heritage you are an American.
