We’ve all thought about the day when aliens come to attack us, but did you ever imagine a little kid saving the world? Well, in this book about a child prodigy of war and strategy, that’s exactly what happens. A boy known as Ender Wiggin has been monitored for years by the government and ultimately ends up in battle school to train for the bugger war. I have now seen the movie and read the book and I have to say that the book was better.
The book was better because we as readers can always here Enders thought. We can understand what and why he thinks the way he does. We are able to understand that he is no regular kid. One of the crucial elements of the story was being able to know Enders thoughts at all times. The book is able to give in depth details about the metaphorical walls that came between him and Alai. We realize how he analyzes enemy teams, like how the launchies tense up when they go in zero gravity or when he knows he’s being watched by Bonzo and his team. First similarity is how they use Enders age to help move the story along. In the book, Enders age is commonly given out to show the passing of time or to separate the levels of students. The age never defines Enders capabilities and limits in battle school. In the movie there is never a need for the age because us viewers can tell the older kids apart from the younger kids. So overall the similarity here is that age has nothing to do with what Ender is capable of in battle school in either the book or the movie. This choice worked well because the movie didn’t have to use a different actor for the same character and the book never had to limit Ender in any
