Competency goal #4
In my program we respect each family’s religion and culture background, even though there is not much diversity here in Wyoming we try and teach the children about all cultures and religions and to respect the others beliefs. I always treat my daycare parents with dignity and respect; I always respect their wishes and commands when it comes to their child. I let all parents know that they are always welcome and appreciated.
CG 4.1-I always make it a point to have an open communication with all parents. Usually in the morning I like to ask how the child is doing today and is there anything I need to know. I let parents know at the end of each day how their child did, wither positive or negative. I send out monthly newsletters to let all parents know of any closures, parties, and activity’s going on that month. I also send out a monthly curriculum that shows everything that their child will be learning for that month. I also have daily feeding; diaper logs for infants so any parents at anytime are free to look at them. Twice a year I have a get together with all the parents and children so they all can get to know each other and spend time with their child and try to be a little bit more involved in their child’s education. Every Friday I send home their child’s school work for the week so they can see what their child learned. I let all parents know that if they ever have any complaints or concerns in regards to their child that they can call or set up a day and time so we can talk.
CG 4.3-I have asked parents in letters to please let me know of any changes in the household wither it’s a move, divorce, new baby. I did have one incident where I didn’t know that this couple was getting a divorce until the kids told me that their parents didn’t live together anymore and mommy has a boyfriend. I was honestly embarrassed to

Assignment 3 Competencies

...In this report, I will be discussing 3 competencies that I have personally developed on and/or still need to develop on. Through working at The Langham Melbourne over the past 5 months, the competencies that really stood out to me were: Self Sufficiency, Professional Networks, Industry and Business Knowledge, and Personal Organisation. The first competency was Self Sufficiency. When it came to taking responsibility for meeting my own learning and developmental needs, I would rated myself 3.5. I was afraid to speak up about what I wanted or needed to know more about. In seeking opportunities to learn new skills, it was a 2 because I did not do this from the start of my placement and only on. Continuing to set new challenging goals and meeting them rates a 4. Unknowingly, I may have set myself challenges but did not see it that way, thus, less pressure on myself and therefore being able to reach my goals with little worry. In future, I would take some time outside work to think about what I am doing wrong, so I can improve. I should not worry about not being able to find the opportunities and also take initiative...
