Concepts Review Mass Media has many influences over our daily lives. With the advancements in technology, the options of how we receive our news is endless. Daily we are exposed to radio stations, newspapers, Internet, social media’s, and we have apps that send us alerts each time news alerts are updated. The most effective form of mass media this week for some would be a local news apps available that is accessible from a tablet, or a smartphone for example. The app sends alerts directly from the internet, right to the palm of your hand, and the information can be updated almost instantaneously. An example of this type of media would be the Local FOX 19 News app. It broadcasts anywhere from the weather forecast, to amber alerts, shootings, etc. Each form of mass media comes from some type of media outlet. We are not only limited to print and television. While these types of outlets are considered among the most trusted ways to hear about the news, we have many other types of outlets available to us. For example the Fox 19 News apps that has been listed before would have an outlet this outlet would be Fox News. Fox news uses many different types of outlets themselves to get their information across to their viewers. With the use of social media, and apps that can be downloaded on consumer’s phones, as well as television, internet sites, radio shows, etc. News applications are a great representation of what a media convergence is. Today people are replacing the typical newspapers, and articles with apps, internet blogs, social media and news sites. According to www.blogspot.com “This factor is one reason the print industry cannot compete with the development in the technologies convergence has created; how can information which has been printed irreversibly and unchangeably compete against information which can change in real-time with the developing news events and be updated at will? It simply can't.” (Louis, 2011) News is getting to be more convenient and can be read anywhere at the palm of our hands in the matter of seconds, it can always be changing.

Literature Review - Concept Map

...Introduction This paper will discuss the literature review section of Adena LeJeune’s 2010 dissertation titled “Examination of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants' Perceived Educational Needs Related to International Financial Reporting Standards” (IFRS). Beginning with the author’s strategy, the learner identifies the theoretical framework and research methodology followed by an explanation of the work’s organizational layout. The next sections explore the levels of analysis used and the limitations, implications, and recommendations as identified by the author. Finally, the paper will present a visual in the form of a concept map and conclude with a brief summary about the learner’s takeaways from this assignment. Agency Theory and Author Strategy For the theoretical framework, LeJeune used agency theory defined by Hall and Jones as a relationship “in which one or more persons (the principal(s)) engages another person (the agent) to perform some service on their behalf which involves delegating some decision-making authority to the agent” (1992, p. 132), better known as the principal-agent relationship. From an accounting perspective, LeJeune explored the principal-professional relationship in which the supply of knowledge defines the relationship. Using this paradigm, LeJeune selected works for the literature review section of the dissertation aimed at explaining CPA’s perceptions of gaining knowledge of IFRS through continuing professional education (CPE). ...

A Review of Ethics Concepts & Theories

...A Review of Ethics Concepts & Theories Educational Objectives: 1. Explain the type of problem that is addressed by philosophers. 2. Explain how ethical norms help address ethical issues that arise in accountancy. 3. Contrast the views of Mills, Machiavelli and Kant. 4. Describe what is meant by a social contract. 5. Analyze a given situation and tell why it would be appropriate or inappropriate to lie. 6. Explain the views of Kierkegaard and contrast him from other existentialists. 7. Discuss the concept that ethics cannot be based on religion. 8. Explain the use of ethical reasoning and how it can be used in your professional life. Introduction The major ethical principles accepted in the western world follow guidelines and rules that must be universally applied in all situations. These ethical principles are established primarily on the basis of teachings set forth by philosophers throughout the ages, starting with the great Greek thinkers Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle. As you might expect, there have been many alterations 修改 to these moral principles throughout the years. What was considered ethically correct by some was rejected by others and replaced with their own concept of what constituted moral or ethical behavior. A Comment about Philosophy: Philosophy, unlike science, addresses issues that cannot be solved. In fact, some philosophers state that if a problem can be solved, philosophers will not even...

Management Concepts Literature Review

...Griffiths University | Literature Review and Report | IBA111 Management Concepts | | | Geoffrey Lee (S2832807) | 05-Feb-12 | Lecturer: Alistair Hodgson According to Schermerhorn (2011, p. 364), Google Australia is one of the best places to work in Australia matching the performance of its US parent company. It uses a well-balanced strategy of extrinsic and intrinsic rewards and these have kept its employees highly motivated and continue to exert their best efforts for the company. Extrinsic rewards at Google Australia include unlimited sick leave, generous health insurance, flexible working hours, and reimbursement of up to $6000 per year for educational expenses. In addition, staff can also receive small bonus rewards on a day-to-day basis. Intrinsic rewards mostly depend on the individual, but such things as getting to work with creators of Google products such as Google Earth, Gmail, and Google News can bring a sense of satisfaction to the job. Google’s intention to create a sense of fun at work and to create a culture of information sharing and collaboration can be identified by its office environment such as an informal dress code, abundant leisure activities and free food at the staff cafeterias. With these small rewards, Google employees feel a sense of belonging to the company and feel that they are creating and contributing to something bigger than themselves. Gone are the days where companies rely solely on the loyalty and lifelong devotion of...

If you were doing a simple research paper you could write about performance reviews based on research alone. In this Sr Paper you must determine the state of the art based on your Literature Review. Then you will give the background of the problem and discuss it. This must all lead to two Courses of Action (COAs; solutions) that are tied to your title and problem. You need a “product” such as a process, a plan, a strategy, a program – something that can be recommended and implemented. Problem Statement (if not finalized post a draft – focus on the "pain.") The problem is that after initial training employees are not being reviewed for current performance. Suggest that after this initial statement you add something more about the problem. Concept Analysis

...Concept Comparison and Analysis Jo Ann Tyler Green NUR/513 10/15/2012 Michelle Johnson Concept Comparison and Analysis The concept, quality of life, as used in nursing theories, is presented in a historically situated context. This approach to concept analysis was selected to illuminate the subjective, contextual, and fluid nature of the concept. Based on this review, quality of life is defined as an intangible, subjective perception of one’s lived experience. From a review of Peplau’s, Rogers’, Leininger’s, King’s, and Parse’s conceptualizations of quality of life, it is concluded that it may be viable to replace health with quality of life as a meta-paradigm concept for nursing. There are numerous definitions of quality of life that exist. Described as experiences of life (Meeberg, 1993), satisfaction with life, and well-being (Ferrans, 1996; Haas, 1999; (Meeberg, 1993), the definition of quality of life lacks precision and specificity. Consistency is important because “differences in meaning can lead to profound differences in outcomes for research, clinical practice, and allocation of health care resources” (Ferrans, 1996, p. 294). Nurses have made important contributions to understanding this concept. The quality of life has been examined in groups of people experiencing a particular illness or health deficit, such as cancer or heart disease (C. R. King, 1998). Quality of life concept analyses have focused on existential aspects of the concept. However, these...

It means a coherent standard should result. So, if framework have no a soundly development, the guidance by it will influent standard-setting based on individual concepts. In other words, standard-setting cannot base on personal conceptual frameworks; it will lead to wrong conclusions about identical or similar issues than it did previously. As a result, past decisions is not treat as future ones, standards cannot be consistent with one another. Furthermore, the conceptual framework should be paying attention to users’ understanding about financial reporting. On the other hand, the development of conceptual framework should solve new or emerging problems quickly. Development of a conceptual framework Conceptual framework has a different definition for IASB and FASB, IASB’s conceptual framework usually is described in the document, FASB’ conceptual framework is a series of concept statements. Note Taking

...very difficult remembering specific details from classroom lectures without good notes. These note taking strategies will help you to take better notes: ▪ Make clear and accurate notes Make sure to take legible and accurate notes since it is not uncommon to forget key details discussed in class after it has ended. Frequently, students comprehend the teacher's lecture, so they'll neglect to jot down specific details only to forget them later. Students who keep accurate notes can review them later to fully grasp key concepts during personal study time. Additionally, since during classroom lectures teachers frequently cover many topics, effective notes enable students to concentrate on specific topics. ▪ Come to class prepared Students properly prepared for class usually take better notes. Proper preparation includes completing assigned reading prior to class and reviewing notes from previous lectures. Students who do this can ask questions about confusing concepts and be prepared for new topics. ▪ Compare your notes To ensure your notes are as accurate and detailed as possible, compare them with the notes of other students after class is over. This is useful because your colleagues will frequently write down lecture details that you forgot or missed. This strategy will make classroom notes more thorough and precise. ▪ Minimize distractions Effective note takers avoid classroom distractions. This can include sitting in spots with fewer...

Math

...you do not pay attention or do your math homework. I strongly advise you to do your math homework everyday, not for just a grade, but it also helps you when it comes time for quizzes and tests. She rarely checks homework, but when she does, she will not tell you. It is also a great review for tests and quizzes. Ms.Hull’s tests and quizzes are not the easiest things you will take. The quizzes take new concepts and apply to the quiz. Also, her tests are usually always hard. It is a good idea to practice new concepts and review old ones from previous units, so you can get a good grade on the tests. I also advise you to be organized throughout the year. Organization is the key to success especially in math class. Tool kits are an extremely helpful resource to use. There are going to be a lot of conjectures and theorems that will be new, and it would be hard to just memorize them. My overall geometry year was not exactly the way I hoped it would turn out. It was extremely had, and it moves at a very quick pace, so keeping up was hard for me personally. If I could have done something differently, it would have been practicing math more often. Each concept was hard, and I did not have anytime to review it, because I have a lot of honors classes which require a lot of work too. The key to being successful in this course is to pay attention, practice a lot outside of class, and do ALL of your homework. If you do that, I am sure your year...

Criminal Justice

...and Criminal Justice there are four areas of focus. They are concepts, measurement operations, evaluation of measures, and levels of measurement. We are going to address conceptualization by using substance abuse and related ideas as examples. For measurement, let us review first how measures of substance abuse have been created, utilizing procedures as available data, questions, observations, and less direct and prominent measures. We will also explain how to assess the validity and reliability of these measures. Finally, the level of measurement reflected in unrelated measures is our last topic. Hopefully, at the end of this you will have a fine comprehension of measurement. A concept is a mental image tat summarizes a set of similar observations, feelings, or ideas. "Concepts such as substance-free housing require an explicit definition before they are used in research because we cannot be certain that all readers will share the same definition. It is even more important to define concepts such as poverty or social control or strain, we cannot be certain that others know exactly what we mean." The meaning of concepts is often disputed among experts and illuminating the meaning of such concepts does not simply benefit those unfamiliar with them. In order to do ample work of conceptualization, we need more than just a definition, for our concepts. We will probably have to distinguish inner aspects of the concept. Conceptualization is defined as "The process of specifying what...
