David Flincher's motion picture, Fight Club, easily portrays how consumerism has brought on the emasculatization of the present day male. Tyler acts as a motivation for Jack’s anti-consumerist philosophy. He drives him along as he rejects material possessions – his Ikea furniture and his apartment suite, which Tyler explodes (Even though, it truly is Jack that explodes it). By moving in with Tyler, who lives in a broken down house in a “…toxic waste part of town…” (Fight Club, 1999) Jack begins his course away from his consumer life. Tyler disrupts consumerism. He pees in the soup at his job in a five-star restaurant and puts single frames of photography into kid’s films while filling in as a projectionist. This is the main reason as to why he is employed at these places. He has no concern for cash or material belongings. He makes cleanser and soap from fat stolen from lypo-suction facilities and offers it to retail stores for 20 dollars each bar. “It’s beautiful, we were selling rich women their own fat asses back to them.” A remark from Jack as he speaks of his job (Fight Club, 1999). He is charmed with Tyler, he admires him for liberating him from his past life. Jack starts losing interest in his occupation at the moment. He turns up with wounds from fighting, stops wearing a tie to work, utilizes the photocopier to print out copies of the guidelines for ‘Fight Club’, and smokes in his desk area. Him and Tyler go out and set car alarms off and turn the “Severe Tire Damage” devices in car-parks the other way round with the goal that individuals will wreck their radials when they take off.
