Introduction
Entrance to Grade 7 is determined by examination. This is to identify students’ readiness in high school education. The result of the test is formative factor whether the student is accepted or not from which student seeks admission. Schools may decide to use standardized test which may be purchased from testing companies or they can use validated teacher-made test. The NSDAPS uses teacher-made test for grade 7 student applicants who are from public schools nearby. It is composed of English, Mathematics and Science Test.
According to Hakkinen (2004) admission rules should be designed to help in achieving education policy goals and they should be comprehensible, stable, fair, cost-effective and legitimate. Student quality is also of direct economic interest and universities are interested in predicting the academic achievement of the students in deciding which applicants are to admit.
The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between the result of the entrance test and scholastic performance (GPA) of grade 7 students.
According to Flejoles & Depamaylo (2011), the academic readiness of a student in college is seen to be contributed by his or her basic education. Likewise, high school students’ readiness is important towards their success in high school.
This school year, the NSDAPS makes it sure that its programs really attend to the learners concerns particularly in admission strategies and programs instruction.

Review of Related Studies

According to Hakkinen (2004) most studies find that senior secondary school grades are positively correlated with success in higher education. The best indicators for student performance are applicants’ school and program preference ranking and the GPA from previous school (Rantanten, cited in Hakkinen 2004).

This research paper focuses on variables which include hours of work, gender, high School academic results, hours of study and what relationship it has with our dependent variable which is the GPA. We aim to discover what relationship our variables hold with the dependent variable; if it is significant or in significant to be able to determine if it is valid to be rejected or accepted in our model. This study will draw upon the raw data that has been collected by surveying 50 university students from the University of Western Sydney. The data is uploaded on an excel spread sheet and ran through a STATA program to allow us to see the significance and correlating levels. The students were categorized as either accounting majors or non-accounting majors and were offered 26 potential obstacles plus one open-ended question. The study showed that the most significant obstacle was the negative attitude of students towards accounting as a difficult subject. Differences in responses of the two student groups occurred for only three of the listed obstacles, none of which were considered significant by either group. One area for concern is how early media exposure influences cognitive development and academic achievement. Heather Kirkorian, Ellen Wartella, and Daniel Anderson summarize the relevant research and provide suggestions for maximizing the positive effects of media and minimizing the negative effects. One focus of the authors is the seemingly unique effect of television on children under age two.
