Promotion Mix (D) **You will need to delete in RED as it helps you piece it together as whole Brazil boasts having a reputation of fabricating some of the world’s most creative advertising especially when it is entertaining which includes familiar venues like the United States but in addition evening soap operas known as telenovelas and sporting events are popular and coveted advertising space (O’Barr, 2008). Since the average Brazilian tends to watch an average of five hours of television per day, television comprises of 59% of the media mix and the Brazilians are overtly loyal to their evening news and telenovelas so to center their time around those events (Millwardbrown, n.d). Other media channels include the newspaper at 18%, magazines at 9%, radio at 4.5%, and internet at 1.5% but growing fast (Millwardbrown, n.d). Millwardbrown (n.d) further advises that Brazilians “don’t usually like comparative ads or ads that denigrate the competitor” and states that advertising investments is 50 times less than U.S or less than 1% of GDP and that the majority is spent with the dominant advertising force at Rede Global de Televisao (television) who owns the majority of the channels in Brazil. Costs for advertising are increasing and as of 2006, R$ 950 million was spent (Millwardbrown, n.d). Acir (2011) points out that it is important to realize that the internet industry is on the rise and changes to advertising in this media mix should be reviewed and not be a missed opportunity for market penetration. Sales promotions customarily used in Brazil include social media groups ‘twitting’ about latest sales as 63 millions Brazilians have access to internet and e-commerce (Global Intelligence Alliance, 2010). Furthermore, Global Intelligence Alliance (2010) state that “price differentiators are no longer the sole tool to

...This case tells how two companies in India, HLL’s Fair & Lovely and Cavin Kare’s Fairever , ran advertising campaigns that were not very ethical. In India fair skin is thought of as more beautiful and desirable than darker skin. Fair & Lovely was the leading company with 90% share and the Cavin Kare’s Fairever was released and they gained 15% share. This made Fair & Lovely launch a series of ads depicting a “fairer girl gets the boy theme.” Cavin Kare also came back with ads focusing on the same thing. They also showed in their commercials that their products worked. Their campaigns lasted for a few years and were eventually pulled due to harsh criticism for its portrayal of women. 1. Is it ethical to sell a product that is, at best, only mildly effective? From my point of view it is not ethical to sell a product that is, at best, only mildly effective. The product which is mentioned in the case is a cosmetic that lightens skin color. It is promoted as “the miracle worker” which can deliver your skin a difference from one to three shades. According to the new Fair & Lovely technology ad, the cream is supposed to change your skin even in four weeks. However, Indian dermatologists explain “that fairness products cannot truly work as they reach only the upper layers of the skin and so do not affect melanin production”. Moreover experts state, the main reason why people believe that the cream is work-ing, is a bleaching ingredient which just whitens facial hair and not the skin...

One Note

...as long as we have a smartphone, a tablet or a PC around us. Not only that, we can even share our notes and collaborate with others across multiple devices. OneNote is built around a notebook metaphor. It organizes data into notebooks, and we can create as many notebooks as we need. Every notebook you create contains sections, which appear as tabs across the top of the notebook’s main screen. Every section contains pages, and pages are where you actually put your data. So, for example, if we were planning a cross-country summer vacation trip, we can create a Summer Vacation notebook. Within that notebook, we can create separate sections for each state you planned to pass through. And each state section could contain pages for specific sites that we planned to visit. One thing that makes OneNote interesting is the flexibility it gives us when we add information to a page. Every page in OneNote is freeform. We are allowed to add text, images, links to webpages, tables, and other bits of information anywhere you want. Want to add a text note? Click anywhere on the page and we can start typing, and that’s where your text appears. We can then drag that text where you want it on the page. The same goes to images and tables. Besides that, with OneNote, it is fairly easy to link different notebooks and different pages together. For example, when we right click on a paragraph in...

My Biography

...across Road’s randomized levels in the fewest movements possible was, at first, unforgiving (leading to situations like my five-minute stumper). Every new object was a surprise, and some are as likely to end a good run on the spot as they are to help you out. But that’s to be expected from a Roguelike, where the first few sessions are more about learning the ins and outs than anything else. Most Roguelikes remove all your progress on death, making your knowledge of what to expect next time around the most palpable form of progress; here that knowledge is solidified in the form of a persistent and indispensable notebook that fills out as you uncover new objects and combinations. Being able to look up what each piece I encountered could turn into got me out of quite a few jams, so I appreciated that I didn’t have remember how every piece fit together. In filling out the notebook I gleefully poked and prodded everything around me, discovering unintuitive things like how two fire spirits and one ancient mortar create a nourishing apple. Even when the results ended up hurting me (word to the wise: don’t mix rabbits and spirits!), I...
