Courtney Meade is an x-ray technologist at Tennova North Hospital in Knoxville, TN. I asked her a series of question on November 20, 2015.Courtney is credential to work in AART (B), CNMT, x-ray, CT scans, and nuclear medicine She always knew she wanted to be in the medical field but wasn’t exactly sure what degree she would to pursue. It wasn’t until Courtney was in a car accident when she was sixteen years old that she knew she wanted to pursue a career in x-ray technology. This decision could be made, because it is really amazing to see what x-rays actually look like, to learn what they are, and how they work. Sometimes it’s hard for even college students to figure out what they want to major in, to hear her say she knew at sixteen what …show more content…
In the medical field the pros and cons are a little different than other careers. The best part, or the pro, of Courtney’s job would be helping the patients get a diagnosis for all the problem’s they are encountering. This could potentially be a pro for anyone’s job that is in the medical field because that is what you are there for to help people, rather it is diagnosing the patients or actually hands on helping the patient. I could also see how this would be a struggle for staff members because if you are shorthanded you are always more likely to be in a hurry or rush things through so you can get to the next …show more content…
The reason for this, is that you are putting someone’s life in your hands no matter the job you do. With this being said, an x-ray technologists diagnosis the patient with things they may or may not want to hear and this can be very hard even for you. This job is a career that Courtney would encourage other people to pursue because it is rewarding and if it is something you will be passionate about then you just stick with it. At the end of the day, all the matters is that you are happy with the career you choose. Courtney’s advice for anyone wishing to get a degree in x-ray technology is make sure this is what you want to do because if you are not passionate about it your likelihood of getting a job could be slim to none. In reality, there are not a lot of jobs out there for this degree because the people that do have a career love what they do and they seem to stay with it for their whole life. In the end though, x-ray technologist, or any job in the medical field, is a very rewarding job and you should always stick with your gut when it comes to what degree you choose because you want it to be something you
