Motivation is important plays an important role. Motivation drives people to perform their best in assignments. “Motivation can inspire, encourage, and stimulate individuals and project teams to achieve great accomplishments. Motivation can also create an environment that fosters teamwork and collective initiatives to reach common goals or objectives” (Peterson, 2007, p. 1). The key element that will motivate our team to succeed is by goal setting. Our team is looking to achieve their goals by finishing successfully in this project. We must maintain confident and with the proper attitude our team will stay constantly motivated. The contemporary theory of goal setting theory is motivating theory that aligns with our team. For our team to ensure success, we are planning to incorporate the contemporary theory of goal-setting to complete this project successfully. “One of the most important jobs of a team leader is to motivate, support and recognize your teammates for a job well done. By recognizing them for their business efforts, it helps to build a stronger relationship with them. It lets them know that you appreciate them and their dedication to the business” (Hill, 2010, p. 1).
The result of our team achieving goals creates team satisfaction. Satisfaction could improve by allowing each team member to collaborate on the area of the project that he or she engages interest rather than assigning tasks at random. “Associate satisfaction has a lot of meanings. It is really by trial and error that one finds a balance; a median where what is done for the associates pleases the majority of the group. One key area which seems to have 100% agreement from all parties is in regard to the level of support that they receive from their immediate supervisor. Their expectation is that their leader provides them with the tools, support and direction they need to achieve great results and do a good job” (Moore, 2009, p. 1). The right person does the right job will have an impact on job satisfaction. Because our team satisfaction lies through the success the project, the team must involve themselves in project. Our team will ensure every member within the group is assigned with part involving the project. Each team member will be assigned with part involving the project. Each team member plans to train him or herself to perform successfully in the project. Prior to the project, our team is planning to conduct an intensive rehearsal to ensure they are able to take the right course of action if problem arises. Our team is always planning to show gratitude if a team member perform effectively in his or her part of the project.
In team environment, each team member could improve his or her performance if the team is highly motivating. “The best people in any field are those who devote the most hours to what the researchers call deliberate practice. It's activity that's explicitly intended to improve performance, that reaches for objectives just beyond one's level of competence, provides feedback on results and involves high levels of repetition” (Colvin, 2005, p. 3). High levels of performance by our team will create equity among each team member. The only way our team could reach to their higher levels of performance is through motivation. The greater range of skills our team could produce involving a project will improve our team performance. The way our team is planning to increase team performance through creating open communication channels, ensuring every team members develop knowledge involving with the project, and other factors Our learning team member name are, Julie, April, Carlita, Cheryl, Chinwe, Michael, and Nick. Our team has similar and different personalities, attitudes, emotions, and values. One of Cheryl value is knowledge. Cheryl could influence the behavior of the team by applying her knowledge in to the project, which will lead the project heading into the right direction April is cautious, detail-oriented, persistence independent, and she enjoyed making problem solving. April could influence the team by helping the team makes effective decision. April could help the team find effective strategies into resolving the dispute. Julia and Chinwe are the impresser, hard worker, impatient, and realists. Julia and Chinwe could also help the team by ensuring the team meets the deadline regarding the project. Julia and Chinwe could help benefit the team by putting time and effort into finding potential problem pertaining with each team member part of the project. Carlita, Michael, Nick and Cheryl are optimist, express emotions and feelings, and more. They could influence the team by helping the team stay positive. They could help the team build confident, maintain a positive attitude, and work cooperatively in a team environment.
Attitudes, emotions, personalities, and values are the key element for team’s success in this project. “Whether you're in sales, building an internet business, building a network marketing business or just have a job working with people, it's imperative that you have an understanding of the different personality types so you'll know that what works for one personality type may not work with another” (Johnson, 2010, p. 1). Because we have different and similar attitudes, emotions, personalities, and values, the team created a plan for each member of team to ensure success in this project. Because Julie and Chinwe are impatient, realists, and more, the team will encourage them to evaluate their work and obtain feedbacks from other team members. Because Carlita, Michael, Nick, and Cheryl are optimist and value self-respect, the team plans to find to find strategies in place that will enable them to improve their performance. Because April is cautious, detail-oriented, persistence, and other factors, the team plan to find a strategy that enable them to improve their work performance. We plan for April to give recommendation involving each team member part of the project. Our team will ensure to apply their knowledge and address any problem involving the project in the team environment.
By implementing a plan around motivation, satisfaction, and performance will enable our team the to do quality group project. We created a plan that will enable our team to increase motivation, satisfaction, and performance. This paper addressed how our team differences interns of attitudes, emotions, personalities, and value could influence behavior as well as how these differences are implemented in the plan to positively influence our team.
