February 19, 2012 Monkey See, Monkey Do It was a bright, sunny day. Spring had just begun. I was finally starting to feel like a big kid.
My mother purchased a glittery hot pink bike for my 10th birthday two months ago and a neon green bike for my younger brother who was only five. Of course, his bike was way smaller than mine. Everyday my brother and I would look forward to riding our bikes in the neighborhood while my mom walked along with us, until one day my back tire popped. In spite of my bike loss, I began to ride my brother's small bike too fast and toppled right over onto my chin. I knew I should not have been riding his bike because it was extremely too small for me, and my mother had told me not to. Instead, I did not listen and made my own decision causing me to have stitches put into the bottom of my chin. I learned that every now and then, accidents happen. [The last few sentences in this paragraph sound like you are ending the essay.] In particular, I was more than upset when I heard the loud popping noise and felt myself slow down near what seemed to be an apple tree. [Why?] "Wait up, something is wrong!" I shouted out to Michael. He was a few feet ahead of me and did not hear me. My mom ran up to me and started to examine the bike. We found a long gash in the back tire meaning an air pump would not fix this problem. After my mom explained the tire situation to me, I was furious. We walked the bike back to my house when I began to wonder what other consequences I would have to suffer for no typical reason. Is this really happening? Why did my bike's tire have to pop?
Having to learn the true meaning of an accident was hard to grasp for me. Furthermore, I began to come to terms with the fact I would now have to

Creative Writing Piece

...English Writing Piece Some say when a tear falls out of your left eye first its joy, and if its your right eye its pain. Jane Saunders stood despondent amidst the crowd of people and vehicles. Her surrounding appeared as if all sound had been muted, all she heard were the so familiar voices in her head. The elderly woman next to her smiled innocently to her, Jane opened her mouth but her voice had abandoned her, as if she had been impaled in the throat. Foul air from the rusty vehicles touched the tip of her tongue. The clouds were low and heavy, the sunless sky seemed more dismal than usual. The dingy taxi rank where she hunched housed scents that would make most people wince, but not Jane, she barely even noticed it. All she smelt were the familiar scents to her, the damp dirty scent of the taxi rank, smelt to her like freshly baked muffins in the morning, among all the cheap mix of deodorants and aftershaves all she smelt was the rich essence of apricot she remembered so clearly. Her clothes were getting heavy and uncomfortable, her new shoes were now enveloped in a layer of grime, while her arms dangled uselessly at her sides. A cold breeze blew against her skin and sent a chill down her spine, the was no warmth of the sun to comfort her, just the memories she held so dear. Shutting her bright blue eyes tight, she felt a stream of warmth roll down her right cheek. ...

What Is Creative Writing

...As for me, creative writing is a piece of art expression, very subjective, which is not dull and normal literature like news article or academic essay. If you ask how to write creatively, I would say inspiration can basis from anywhere, anything and anyone. Yet, it is not purely about thinking ‘outside of the box’ and writing something exciting. Creative writing is a style of writing mostly appears in feature stories, both fiction and non-fiction work. Writers need to generate their expression, maybe a viewpoint, an analysis and a story, from their inner-person meaning by their self of feelings, emotion, thoughts, opinion, imagination and even life experiences. It is a freedom writing, however, all should be a very original composition. Take an instance of our British leading fantasy novelist J.K.Rowling and her creativity of ‘Harry Potter’ series. The character Harry Potter is her sudden inspiration in 1990, when she was on the train to London, suddenly came up an idea to write a story of a little boy gets into a wizard school for study. It looks seems a children’s novel, while behind the wizards and magic adventures, there is deep moral fable, full of struggling between good and evil, life and death, right and wrong, love and hate, and that’s reflects Rowling’s life spiritual pathway and even her ideal of heroic characters. Other than fiction story, creative writing includes variety of its genres. It broadly uses in creative industry in order to express in kinds of format...

Creative Writing Class Analysis

...Creative writing was a class that I hadn’t previously expected to attend, until I got my schedule for this year. Realistically speaking, I had no expectations of learning anything from this class at the very beginning, it seemed like the typical elective where everyone would do the bare minimum and learn pretty much nothing at all. In reality though, throughout this year, this class has actually gotten me out of my shell a bit. Sophomore year was my first time in Duncan High School and this class had actually helped me make my first friends while attending. In the very beginning we stuck strictly to poetry like work and group projects, which was fun but anxiety inducing for an introvert like myself. Although difficult, it helped me make friends....

Creative Writing Class Analysis

...Creative writing was one of my favorite classes. It was the class I looked forward to because your imagination could run wild. Yes there are projects you have to do, and deadlines you need to meet but that is a part of life. I was always a shy kid in school but this class did help me open up a little bit. We had a project where we needed to make an iMovie about a meaningful time in your life. I put time and work into mine and I was proud of it. When Mrs. Jepsen asked if anyone wanted to go first, I volunteered. I never volunteered to go first in any other class before. After my iMovie was over everyone just had so many great things to say about it. Every since that moment, I was less scared about presenting in front of the class. If you like...

Education in Australia is very different to where I come from; it requires selflearning and self-reflection for overall development and self-improvement. Obviously the word “self” is important in education in Australia and from this perspective learning has become so much more real and enjoyable. One of the main reasons to choose English Writing is to express my thoughts, opinions and arguments in writing which I have never been encouraged to do before. Over the course of study I have developed various skills learnt different literary techniques and increased my vocabulary. This course is a very good platform for me to prepare myself...

Personal Statement - English Literature and Creative Writing

...to study English Literature and Creative writing because I am passionate about and committed to reading and writing. I feel that a structured programme of study is imperative for me to achieve my long-term goal of establishing a successful and varied career as a writer. I know that the path I have chosen will often be difficult to walk but I have already taken a step toward its end by starting an Access course. Throughout my short time on the Access course I have gained confidence in my speaking skills. For example, during a recent discussion on gender and relationships in a graded English discussion I raised a point that the teacher had not thought of and was praised for doing so - this taught me that by pushing myself beyond my comfort zone by sharing my ideas and opinions I will be able to achieve my goals. I know that with the skills taught on the Access course I will be able to achieve my goal of studying and completing a degree in English Literature and Creative Writing. The Access course has taught me the importance of self-reflection and criticism through keeping a reflective log which documents my progress, obstacles and goals. I have learnt that I am able to be objective when analysing my own work and performance; this skill has helped me to realise that in order to improve my work I have to be critical of myself and be able to accept criticism from others, I feel that this skill will prepare me for the competitive world of writing. Another skill I have learnt is...

Othello Creative Writing Essay

...Paloma Baker World Lit. Period 2 January 31, 2016 Othello Creative Writing Assignment If forced to change the ending of Othello, act 5 would be a happy ending. Initially, I had written a tragic story with most of the main characters dying in the end; however, my producer suggested a more appealing ending where the good characters, like Othello and Desdemona, live happily ever after. Therefore, act five of the play would be changed to a complete different story. In the opening of act 5, Rodrigo and Iago would still attempt to kill Cassio. This part of the play where Rodrigo ends up dying would stay the same because there has to be at least one death in the story. Iago would have still murdered him and wounded Iago in the leg without anyone knowing. Once Othello has heard the cries of Cassio screaming “murder, murder,” he then goes off to find his faithful wife, Desdemona, whom he plans to kill. On his way there Othello bumps into Emilia who sees the “green-eyed monster” with in. She then again tries to tell Othello that Desdemona is faithful and the affair between her and Cassio never existed. Othello finally mentions to Emilia about the handkerchief he say in the hands of Cassio. Emilia, shocked, tells Othello that she stole Desdemona’s beloved handkerchief and gave it to her husband, Iago. Furious and confused, Othello screams loud enough to wake the whole town, and storms into the bedroom where Desdemona sleeps. Othello screaming at Desdemona, acts her about the...

Creative Writing: Wenny Has Wings

...I don’t really read a whole lot. I mostly read when i’m forced to in language class. I don’t like to read. I have a hard time finding a good fit book for me. I also struggle with finding a book that i'm actually interested in. It's hard for me to find one that meets my high standards. I don’t like to read because when i do read I can’t stay in the book. I space off a lot. I can never keep an interest in a book. The only book I have found that I actually like it Wenny Has Wings. I like it because it's a sad story and it does a good job of keeping my interest. It doesn't have boring parts at all. Some genres of books I like are mystery, true stories and realistic fiction. I like these because these types usually do a pretty good job at keeping...

How Creative Writing Has Affected My Life

...Although writing is taught to children throughout their years in school, it doesn't always have the same impact as a child sitting him or herself down and writing simply because it makes them feel good. Creative writing can be a healthy outlet for a persons emotions. It can also teach valuable lessons and skills to a person that they can apply throughout their life. Creative writing has had this affect on me. Creative writing has helped me grow and expand as a person outside as well as inside of school. Creative writing revealed a way for me to cope with my emotions. It became a healthy outlet for me when I didn't feel comfortable sharing my emotions with another person. It was a place for me to express my thoughts without feeling self conscious. For example, when I was twelve years old, my parents made the decision to file for divorce. It was a difficult situation for me to be in, but writing helped me to get through it. At the time, I developed a passion for poetry. Every day I would write at least one poem. It was...

...Sharon Grisham GE 217 Creative Writing I chose this picture taken by the ASPCA organization because it really captured my heart when I saw it. The target audience is all people who love animals and care about them. The claims in this picture are animals are senselessly hurt. It also shows the depravity in some people’s nature by hurting defenseless animals for no reason other than just for the fun of it. ASPCA is trying to get people’s attention and appeal to their sense of right and wrong and be horrified by this picture. They want you to be upset enough to want to find out more about it and to help stop these acts or at least help the abused animals. The supporting evidence is where the dog had been partially skinned. That is also the part that caught my attention. This graphic picture of this great big place on the dog where .it has no skin is quite compelling. If you have any compassion at all this picture will upset you. Since this is a color picture it is more effective than if it had been in black and white. Black and white doesn’t show the details like color does. Therefore it wouldn’t have had the same reaction of disgust or horror. I am always very upset when I see those pictures on TV about all those poor abused animals, shown by the ASPCA organization. So I went looking on the Internet for pictures like those on TV. This picture is one of those I found. My son and I are both very caring animal lovers. We sometimes are so upset by these...

...Creative Writing Unsent Letter from Beatrice to Benedick after Act 1 Scene 1 Benedick, You say that you are loved of all ladies, only me excepted, that’s where you are wrong. You say that you’ll die a bachelor, as if any woman in her right mind will wish to marry you. You delude yourself and your self-importance. You shall die a bachelor simply because no one will accept you; you should feel lucky that I even deem to speak with you. Although I spurn marriage and all it stands for, as you do, I at least have the respect of men, whilst you lack even the appreciation of any woman who possesses even a shred of intelligence, for you only know how to buy and manipulate those into loving you. You state that I’m “Lady Disdain” and that am I yet living, I tell you: the only disdain currently present within the vicinity of Messina is that of all woman towards you, you are just too blind to see the truth. For I live my life as I wish (the only thing of worth that you ever taught me) for which is the only reason I personal can suffer to be in your presence. Beatrice Unsent Letter from Beatrice to Benedick, end of Act 3 Scene 1 Dear Benedick, When I first heard I thought this must be some jade trick, for you it has always been some jade trick. But upon thinking I realised that it couldn’t possibly be that, upon finally realising that it must be true (of that there was no doubt). From the bottom...

...English/340 Creative Writing Prof. Mary-Beth Brophy November 18, 2013 Michelle Robeson In my kitchen there is an orange accent wall. My husband and I spent several hours deciding what type of picture to hang on the wall. It had to be something meaningful that also had coordinating colors. We settled on a painting of Bourbon Street. My husband was born and raised in New Orleans and we spent about 9 months there before we got married so it seemed perfect. The painting is in hues of orange and yellow which remind me of the many sunsets we saw when we lived there, and it’s a corner that we spent many an afternoon drinking daiquiris and listening to the different types of street music that is always is abundance there. When I look at this picture I see the first time my husband brought me to New Orleans, 3 months into our relationship. It was a true test considering we drove from Texas to Louisiana, which is an 8 hour drive. We also stayed with his cousin in her home, which is nerve racking in itself, because as I said, we had only been dating for 3 months at this point. Much to our surprise, the drive went so smoothly. We laughed and joked the entire way, we never ran out of things to talk about and more importantly, we never got on each other’s nerves. When we arrived at his cousin’s home, I was greeted with the warmest welcome full of hugs and kisses; did I mention we had never met? For a first family introduction, it could not have gone any better. My husband spent the entire...

...The Man: Crackling leaves carpeted the forest floor, tall pine trees whistled and swayed as a heavy gust of wind blew through them. She followed the path she had followed so many times before, although this time it would unfortunately be her last. A slow but unnervingly loud crack sounded behind her. Slowly she turned her head. A tall, lanky man stood behind her, his head tilted down slightly as a devilish grin appeared on his grubby unshaven face. His 3 quarter pants were ripped, tattered and caked with mud his black and his white striped t-shirt was not much of a sight either; holes were showing all over, and like his pants an excessive amount of mud was covering them. The girl wondered what he had been doing for his clothes to be in such a state. His black, greasy hair was long and shaggy and looked like it hadn’t been washed or cut in a very long time. The girl felt uneasy being so close to this disturbing man, who she had never seen before. Slowly the man took a few careful steps closer towards her, he was no more than three feet from her now and his menacing grin had become even wider. There was a suspicious glint in his dark eyes that made him look even creepier. As he slowly approached her she began to feel more and more afraid with every slight movement he made. She tried to scream but she was frozen, trapped in a nightmare that yelling could not save her from. She was alone, no one could hear her out in the forest, let alone see her. Her body urged her to move....
