Creativity
Creativity is essential to the process of design and innovation. Any idea thought of is just one of many until creativity is applied, making that idea unique. Creativity is associated with critical thinking, brainstorming, and even the cognitive process which involves recognition, reason, and understanding. Creativity can happen in a number of ways; rather it is taught, encouraged, or an act of random causality.

Innovation
Innovation is mainly defined as the act of creative thinking. Innovation is developing an idea, taking it from the mind and turning it into a physical form of a process, system, product, or service. Innovation is a new found way to solve a problem. In an organization, innovation can be used in many ways. Rather its upgrade a systematic way of processing or coming up with a new product to sell, innovation has been used to bring it all together. When thinking of innovation, there are two components to consider, one being creativity (as previously explained), and the other is implementation. Implementation is mainly turning ideas into process. Coming up with an idea, developing that idea, and then commercializing that idea are all processes that falls under implementation.
Design
Design is the process of which creativity is transformed through innovation into its physical form. Design deals with everyday things and makes them better. In designing, one would explore solutions, compare alternatives, and decide on the best course of action. It involves a lot of research and sometimes, even experimentation.
Business implications
Implementing creativity, design, and innovation into business is essential to the success of that business. This includes information technology, networking, teamwork, functional systems of processing, managing, and many other aspects of business.

IMPACT OF INNOVATION, DESIGN, AND CREATIVITY ON THE ORGANIZATION

* Evaluate the impact of innovation, design, and creativity on strategy, process, product, and services. * Evaluate the impact of innovation on various types of organizations. * Analyze the unique considerations in managing an innovative organization.
CREATIVITY FOR INNOVATIVE DECISION MAKING * Examine the powers of mental models/mind sets, the forces that influence them, and the potential limits they impose on the decision making process. * Identify the four steps to changing mental models/mind sets. * Analyze the mental models/mind sets that guide your decision making in the work place. * Compare and contrast the four styles of creative intelligence and their influence on organizational decision making.

TOOLS AND TECHNIQUES FOR INNOVATION AND CREATIVITY * Explain the tools and techniques used in the design process. * Identify the four basic phases of the innovative process. * Evaluate the results of a creative/innovative process for continuous improvement.
CREATING AND SUSTAINING AN INNOVATIVE ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE * Analyze the role of incentives, training, and education in promoting innovation. * Assess the role of leadership in creating, managing, and sustaining an innovative organization. * Discuss the ethical implications of an individual rewards system. * Differentiate between a non-innovative organization and an organization that has adopted, or is transitioning to become a creative and innovative organization. When defining innovation, one could use Von Stamm’s description or Govidarajan’s account; either way creativity clearly comes first. It is becoming clear, however, that creativity is useless without the innovation to bring the idea to life.
