Creature Care Animal Clinic
Dr. Julia Barr has a veterinary clinic in which she is running six days a week. This is a passion of hers to do what she enjoys doing by taking care of animals. Dr. Barr has hired another doctor to help with her growing business. Dr. Barr and Dr. Yen works throughout the week but alternates shifts on Wednesday’s and Saturday’s because Wednesday’s are their late nights and Saturday’s they stay open half a day. Dr. Barr has hired three nurses, a hiring manager and an office assistant. Dr. Barr business is in disarray due to not forecasting, not organization efficiently, nor managing inventory well. If the structure of the firm is not changed soon in my opinion it will fail very soon. Dr. Barr’s operation management was not researched well at all. 1. Identify the operations management problems that Dr. Barr is having at the clinic.
It looks like Dr. Barr has a formal system of inventory management that was working well in the past but it has quickly got out of hand. They are over stocking medications that are expired, overstocking products that they already have in stock and on many occasions ran out of stock of products and had to rush deliver items and in certain cases had to run to the drug store to purchase bandages and probably other items. Dr. Yen and Dr. Barr are still rotating Wednesday’s and Saturday’s but Wednesday evening are very slow were as Friday’s they are so busy that all staff usually has to stay late and Saturdays are busy as well. Wednesday’s are so slow that Dr. Barr does her paperwork and nurses find themselves doing menial office tasks. 2. The schedule Dr. Barr set up worked well at the clinic where she was a resident. What are some reasons why it might not be working here?
I think that the schedule the Dr. Barr set up wasn’t not based on actual knowledge to the industry but more on her own desired

Organizing, the current system that she has in place is not adapting to current setting of the clinic for example the overflow on Friday evenings. In any successful business you have to adapt and tailor your hours to what the public or the consumer needs.
