She like most first time owners is having problems managing, organizing, controlling inventory, and staffing employees. She needs to take some time and find out the main goal that she set out to accomplish in the first place. She also needs to understand that not all clinics and the needs of the business are the same and just because one clinic (such as the clinic she shadowed in college) operates on certain hours the needs and availability at another location may need different requirement. The operation management problem that Dr. Barr is currently facing is planning, organizing, and controlling. Planning consist of knowing when to stay open late and when to close the clinic early. However, she nor her office staff would know this when first opening the clinic, the hours that she set for herself and the office staff should have been “tentative” at first, until she knew without certainty the business needs.
