College is the stage where students need to take studying seriously. This stage of life defines your future, and majority of people wants a better future that’s why we go to college. But college, as I have said needs to be taken seriously which means we need to improve a lot of things as students. One of the things I need to improve on myself is my characteristics as a college student. If I want to be a successful college student I must possess these following characteristics of a successful student. Base on what I have searched, a successful college student is good on time management skills. Learning to balance school, social life and extracurricular activities is one of the most important things to learn. A successful college student is hardworking and persistent. Unsuccessful college student skills that I practice are attendance and results. These particular skills I practice truly hinder my ability to be a successful college student. Being aware of these bad characteristics is the first step of improvement to become successful. Although, these strategies I’m willing to improve will help in the classroom they will also help in life as well. Attendance lowers my grades in class. I am from Jacksonville where my college is also located. I have a lot of responsibilities dealing with family issues that gets in the way of me being on time or being able to attend class period on that particular day. I am a father of one and I also play football. My time is very compacted. My daughter has been very ill lately, which requires hospital visits and I have to attend to her needs. Also, my football season is here as well, some days we miss class because of long trip to other states and cities. Results! I try my best to do the best I can in everything I do. Rather its school, sports or life related. My attendance plays a strong role
