Dating is a hot topic for parents and for teenagers. Many parents believe that their children should wait to date, because they are not mature or there is no point in dating unless you plan on marrying that person. But why wait to date; you should learn how to handle a relationship and how to get along with the opposite gender. There are a lot of “thumbs up” to dating. Why do parents think we as teens aren’t mature? The truth is teens are mature but in their own way. We can act stupid and laugh at stupid stuff—just like adults do. But that doesn’t mean that we aren’t mature, it just means that we want to have fun and enjoy life. We as teens can be serious too, but only when we need to be. Dating is a way that will help us mature and “grow-up”. It will help us feel grown-up as well as teach us lessons that we will use when we are “gown-up”. All parents tell us teens about dating are the negative side to dating, but they always leave out the positive. There are so many positives such as communication and trust. When you are dating someone you need to communicate and talk about how you feel and just everyday life to learn more about each other and to stay connected. Also when you are in a relationship you need to trust your partner, trust is a huge life skill that you need to learn when you are young. Dating as a teen is a good way to find out what you are looking for in a spouse. Dating can also help you with hurt and rejection. Which will also help you in the future, rejection doesn’t just happen in dating but also in finding a job. Often when a girl likes a guy she acts different around them then she would when she is just with her friends. But you should have friends of the opposite sex so that you can know how to behave when you get into a relationship. Research says that if your best friend in high school is of the opposite sex and you get married to them that the chance of staying together goes up to about 38% and if you have a Christian based religion, it goes to 42% and of them (with Christian based marriages) only 3% are divorced. So I believe that there is no problem in dating in high school. Because there are a lot of benefits to dating, as well as it teaches you life skills that will be helpful in the future. Although I do believe that you should talk about the boundaries and what you want out of the relationship, which is a part of communication. But also don’t keep it a secret from your parents; make sure that you are allowed to date so the relationship can stay healthy.

Summary and Essay - the Price of Marriage in China

... Are you looking for love?” In another part of Beijing there’s a different kind of love hunter, an old widowed woman (Ms. Yu) who is desperately looking for a spouse for her son. Ms. Yu is not the only parent hunting. In the park, where she is, there are long rows of elderly men and women with homemade signs specifying the specs of their sons or daughters. All sitting there, waiting for inquiries, and with a small hope of getting their children married. The problem of finding a spouse in China is rising and with 118 boys born for every 100 girls the number of potential partners is shrinking. That leads to a big boom in the Internet dating industry in China, and with the number of singles rising and dating sites established, it makes more people, rich and poor, turn to hands-on matchmaking services. Essay about finding a spouse in China Finding a spouse in China or Denmark is only as hard as you make it. It seems that the more the social media is expanding, the lazier we get. We are getting lazy when it comes to meet new people, in this example, meeting “the one and only”. With the many dating sites that are available today you automatically get pickier when it comes to meeting your next boy- or girlfriend. All that you want, or need, to know is already written black on white. This means you will have a head start...

Dating, Friendship, and Cliques

...Cliques, Friendship & Dating Cliques As a teenager, having a social life takes major precedence in shaping other people’s perceptions of an identity or even the light that they see themselves in. Often times, people make judgements about a person's value based on the type of friends they have. Our friends are a great support system in such a transitional part of our lives. We laugh alongside them, as well as suffer losses together. Most times our friendships are a positive aspect of how we define ourselves, but when friends become exclusive, it can seriously hurt those being left out. A clique is a group of friends that excludes certain people in a purposeful manner. There may be one or two controlling members who influence the rest of the group. This type of peer pressure can cause people to act differently or behave in an uncharacteristic manner. These actions can stem from insecurities or the desire to gain popularity. People feel more powerful by putting others down, but deep down it doesn’t help to tear down the self-confidence and respect of another. (Coping With Cliques 2). Girls have a tendency to form cliques more frequently than boys, but all members of a social community are affected by this kind of behavior. Often times teens will feel trapped in a clique or be afraid that if they speak up to stop things, the group will turn on them next. They take a passive approach to the situation in order to avoid being a victim. However, there is no true sense of belonging...

Should Girls Ask Boys Out

...parts of the world where every day is a Sadie Hawkins day. Sadie Hawkins day is a day where women got to ask men out on dates (Scroggins, 2012). According to Mills (2012), “The tradition in dating has been for the guy to take the risk and ask the girl out, while the girl would just sit back and give the guy signals that she’s interested, or not.” Men used to be superior in relationships. They were the ones who used to go to work, support their family and take the important decisions of the family whereas in today’s world women are taking equal part in it in most of the cases. Clemons, J, J (2012) said, “Part of the change in females is the progression of the feminist movement. Women have more confidence. Women are becoming dominant in the workplace. They are no getting married as quick. They are not having kids. They also have begun out-numbering men in college.” Even though still the debate remains if girls asking boys out is legitimate or not. The only way to get something is ask for it. This rule applies just as much to relationships as it does to any other part of life. If an individual likes another individual they s/he should ask the other person out. It does not matter if the person who asking out is a guy or a girl. In our society, there is always been a tradition when it comes to dating (Cullen, E & Payton, W, 2010). The guy usually asks the girl out and she either accepts or gives a prepared speech about why she can not go on...

Dating and Single Parent Book Review

...In Dating and the Single Parent, Ron Deal opens up conversations necessary for many single parents as to whether dating or considering the possibilities is the optimal thing to do, as well as coming to terms about the best time to do so. He presents his story through a variety of synopsizes of stories collected through many years of studies. He is open and honest using biblical doctrines as the foundation of his advice. This critique will examine Ron Deal’s key ideas, Christian approach, and two of the theological approaches he addressed. Summary Humans are created beings, created with the sole purpose of serving a higher calling. Dating and the Single Parent addresses many of the most important issues that surround an individual’s life and the need for relationship. It places God at the forefront of every decision or lack thereof that ill-informed or misinformed people continue to make. Ron Deal tackled issues that many churches are afraid to, leaving not many areas untouched. He discussed the necessity of waiting and consulting God in every area of a single parents life exercising godly wisdom. According to Deal (2012), “I beg you to heed the call of Wisdom regarding your relationships, your family decisions, and your parenting or you might as well start drafting your email to me now” (p.23). As marriages continue to fail at an alarming rate, the need for better understanding becomes greater. Humans are created with an overwhelming need for relationships, this need...

Elementary, Middle and Highschool Boy-Girl Relationship

...as some of the kids are rejecting others, breaking off friendships, and making “who likes whom” a focus of attention. The pattern becomes more sophisticated as it continues in the middle school years and is in full bloom by the time the children hit high school. I would like to attempt to persuade you that the elementary level of “who likes whom,” and the middle school level of “who is going out with whom,” are not simply innocent and cute stages of life through which everyone must go. As informed Christians professing to glorify the Lord in all things, we need to see if any of this behavior brings glory to God and evaluate the effects of it on our kids. A brief look at the teen dating model and its consequences will show that it is the world’s model, not Christ’s, that we are so accustomed to. Dating is more for a boy and a girl than just spending time together. It’s a lifestyle that involves attitudes and values. It’s a heart thing! Matthew 22:37 says, “And He said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with...

Waiting for Sex

...Topic: Waiting for sex. *note: An earlier version of the class textbook is used, pages and chapters may not match* In today times, sex is a more open topic amongst my peers and our parents. In our parents’ times, sex was taken by a more traditional approach; waiting to be fully and completely in love with your significant other and eventually marrying that individual to engage in any sexual activities. In today’s society, the engagement of sexually activities can start as early as the age of 13 where no real connection with their partner is taking place and the subject of sex and premarital sex is becoming more accepted by all. Despite today’s culture of fickle sexual relationships, I believe in a more traditional view and the romantic ideal of waiting for love/marriage before sex. Traditional sexual morality is that of waiting till being truly and completely in love with a person while also planning to be with that person for a long time to have sex. To me, the simple act of sex is supposed to mean “I trust you and love you with all I have”. In today’s society, many people are engaging in sexual encounters with people left and right; having sex with just anyone. The act of it becomes less and less important and looses its value and meaning. With every sexual partner one has, each person becomes less and less special. Not only is that unsafe but it is also skanky, for lack of a better word. In chaste sexual relationship, the desire for the other special individual remains...

Dating and Single Parents

...A Critique of Dating and the Single Parent Jeremy L. Hollingsworth Liberty University Abstract “Dating and the Single Parent” (Deal, 2012) is a book that underlines the need for single parents who are dating to slow down and think about what is best for the children that are in the relationship. The book is divided into three main sections. Getting Past Butterflies and Warm Fuzzies, Going Fishing, and Marital Commitment and Stepfamily Preparation. Most of the work was given instruction to learn how to and know why one should have a strong courtship. The other piece of the book is how the author writes it from a Christian worldview. As the title of the book states it is written to aid parents that are thinking about or is dating someone with children. Whatever the cause of the separation from a spouse be it a divorce or death the children have to be at the forefront of the couple mindset. In making the determination of readiness in dating, one should make time to reflect upon past dating patterns and results. This will help in deciding whether one is repeating the same pattern over again or if maturity has been occurring through the dating process. Where is God in the dating process? Is God being trusted in the process of is He being pushed aside and disregarded? How does the partner respond to the kids and how do they respond in return? These are just some of the questions that need to be considered during the dating process. Keywords: Dating, Single, Parent,...

Hunting Down Girls

...* An important tip for complimenting women: Instead of saying "That's a pretty dress" or "I like your outfit",. say "You look really great in that dress." Compliment the woman, not the article of clothing! * Never touch a girl on her hips until you get really serious. Make a romantic move if you feel ready. She will feel important, and that someone actually likes her. If she says to stop, stop. Nothing is worse than a girl seeing you as a harasser. If she acts a little odd, stop. Don't take it personally because some girls just don't know how to act around guys. Do it another day if this happens. * Show sympathy and affection. If the girl you really enjoy being around is sad or hurt, give her a quick hug. Don't just say that you're sorry and you hope she feels better. This works very well, because then the girl knows you care about her. * If you have braces, nnm glasses and acne... don't be disheartened! Most girls don't mind what's on the outside but don't be a total scruff. Girls put a lot of effort into their appearance, perhaps you should do the same. But don't think just because you have braces, glasses, or acne, that the world is over, sometimes it works! Lots of girls think braces and glasses are attractive, and many girls can get past a bad skin complexion (although they may tease you about it). * Have good posture! * Don't act tough or try to be a thug. This doesn't attract girls. * Don't follow her around everywhere. It automatically gives you...

Dream on

...Like most young girls, I grew up dreaming of my wedding day. I would always picture myself standing in front of my family and friends in a beautiful, white gown. It felt like a fairytale with the typical happy ending where you would “ ride away into the orange sunset”. The vision was so clear that I could see the man of my dreams staring back at me. As I grew older, I realized the fairytale wedding and husband I always dreamed about was nothing more than a fantasy. It all began when I first met my prince charming at 16 years old. We met during the time of the evacuations for Hurricane Katrina disaster in New Orleans, LA. The high school I was attending had a lot of refugees enrolling in our school from there. When they did arrive, the environment of our school completely changed. There were fights between Houstonians and newly enrolled New Orleans Refugees, which, became routine at school. It seemed like every other day we had lockdowns because someone had weapons on school grounds or it was a gang related shooting. At that point, I was ready to leave the school because it was scary not knowing what could happen each day . Then one day, I came across a young man in my homeroom class. I could tell he was from New Orleans by the obvious accent. He was very...
