Personally I'm of the opinion the abuse of Dave Pelzer did actually happen. However I do not believe that his abuse was as horrible to the extent he had claimed, but regardless even if only half of his book is true its still a horror story. Never the less, this book was such an inspiring story from someone who could have just as easily ended up committing suicide or drinking and drugging himself into even forgetting his existence. Dave Pelzer’s world of life revolved when he would eat next. As a young child Pelzer became abused, starved and tortured and many times wanted to end his life, or wished his alcoholic mother would. This is a book that should most definitely be recommended to middle school students, high school students, and adults.
