All of his uncles except Joseph and James were killed by Indians, which motivated him to later join the militia to protect women and children from the Indians. He was best known for being a hunter with a unique style. He became a hunter when supplies were short. Davy is also a militia man, folk hero, congressman, and an Alamo defender. Davy Crockett was a natural leader, which he showed when he joined the state militia, went to Congress, and fought in the battle of The Alamo. Davy joined the state militia of Tennessee under Andrew Jackson’s forces because he wanted to help other people. This shows Davy’s courage to fight for others knowing he could get injured or even killed. Some say “he got his courage from his dad that was in the revolutionary war” (Sanford, pg. 9). He was in multiple battles with the “Red Coats” during the time he was a militia man. One of the battles he didn’t go to. It was called the battle of horseshoe bend. …show more content…
Eventually, Davy was chosen to be the commander of the militia and won and lost some battles. Davy’s Courage kept them going. Davy eventually stopped fighting for the militia and became involved in politics. He wanted to speak for Tennessee; he decided to become a Justice of Peace Officer. Later he advanced from Justice of Peace, to a Tennessee Legislator. Davy was well known and many people liked him so he became a congressman. He was elected as a congressman in 1827. Davy Crockett Research Paper

...Davy Crockett was born in Greene County, Tennessee August 17, 1786. He had many tall tales about himself. A few examples are that he can jump riverbanks and fight bears. Davy Crockett was a congressman, a frontiersman, and the defender of the alamo. Son of John Crockett and Rebecca Hawkins Crockett. When David Crockett was 8 years old his father John Crockett gave up on farming. David’s dad had got a friend to help him build a gristmill, so that way the river would power up the gristmill. The gristmill would grind grains into flour and they could sell it t the neighbors. Before they could finish building the mill the water at the area flooded and it floated away. At age ten Davy learned how to hunt he had a sharp eye with a shot that would be right on target. When David was thirteen a one room school by his house opened up. History of Public Relations

...Evolution of PR from its Inception to Today To discuss the origins of public relations, one must consider what is meant by “public relations.” What is generally termed as public relations today, with greater emphasis on managing communication between publics and the client, began to take shape over the past century. However early methods used by public relation practitioners and the goals for which these methods were utilized are millennia old. Kings and religious leaders throughout time have used persuasion to reinforce their image of power or to spread a truth deemed critical to the populace. Monuments and statues declaring the insurmountable power of leaders and decrees or writings of early religious leaders were used to persuade people to act in accordance with the creators’ goals or desires. The Renaissance brought increased public relation efforts in politics with the forced creation of the Magna Carta and the practices of political philosophers such as Machiavelli. The 1400’s saw the new world discovered, mercantile trade expand even further, and Gutenberg invent the movable type printing press. These factors stimulated new ways of thinking of oneself in relationship to others and increased the uses and means by which one could capitalize on persuasion. The usage and study of public relations has generally been led by the United States and can be seen through five stages: The Beginning of PR (1600-1799), Communicating/Initiating (1800-1899), Reacting/Responding...

Native American Relocation

...Native American Relocation Native American culture and its role in American history have always been a fascinating subject. There have been reading assignments on Native American’s removal and resistance, Black Hawk and his rebellion, and Emerson’s letter to President Van Buren. These pieces gave us a brief overview of America’s goals at the time, the action they took to achieve these goals, the Native Americans’ reaction, and the opinions held by the American people. These readings only scratched the surface of Native Americans and the role they have played in American History. The main cause of the interaction between Americans and the Native Americans was an increase in demand for land by Americans. As they pushed west and south, the frequency of interactions with Native Americans increased and so did hostility. I am aware that land demand issues were normally approached at first with peaceful negations. The American government would meet with the tribes and develop a treaty that resulted in less land for the Native Americans and more land for Americans. This would satisfy the Americans for a period of time but demand for land would just continue to increase. At this point Indians would either get restless and rebellions would ensue or Americans would violate the treaties and make moves on the Native’s land. In either situation the superior force of the American troops would result in them defeating the Indians. The Indians would then be forced to comply with American demands...

Moto: Coming to America from Japan

...Moto: Coming to America from Japan Moto arrived in Chicago in the middle of winter, unprepared for the raw wind that swept off the lake. The first day he bought a new coat and fur-lined boots. He was cheered by a helpful salesgirl who smiled as she packed his lined raincoat into a box. Americans were nice, Moto decided. He was not worried about his assignment in America. The land had been purchased, and Moto’s responsibility was to hire a contracting company and check on the pricing details. The job seemed straightforward. Moto’s firm, KKD, an auto parts supplier, had spent a year and a half researching U.S. building contractors. Allmack had the best record in terms of timely delivery and liaisons with good architects and the best suppliers of raw materials. That night Moto called Mr. Crowell of Allmack, who confirmed the appointment for the next morning. His tone was amiable. Moto arrived at the Allmack office at nine sharp. He had brought a set of kokeshi dolls for Crowell. The dolls, which his wife had spent a good part of a day picking out, were made from a special maple in the mountains near his family home in Niigata. He would explain that to Crowell later, when they knew each other. Crowell also came from a hilly, snowy place, which was called Vermont. When the secretary ushered him in, Crowell stood immediately and rounded the desk with an outstretched hand. Squeezing Moto’s hand, he roared, “How are you? Long trip from Tokyo. Please sit down...
