Born to Be Wild

...Steve Bishop was born in Liverpool. He moved to Birmingham to study at the university and has lived in Moseley ever since. The short story, Born to Be Wild, which is his first story, was published in Hard Shoulder (1999) This short story has a 1st person narrator called Julian. p. 78 line 1.” I'm looking through my stuff for something to war in town. “ It's very obvious who's point of view this story is seen from. Our narrator Julian is constantly making negative remarks about Martin, and pointing out how unpopular he is. p. 78 line 6 “ but it's only Martin. “ and p. 81 line 1. “ Oh fuck he's going to give the game away. He'd better not even mention it in front of my real friends. “ Julian is your average student, although we don't know his exact age, he mentions a Sony stereo he received for his fourteenth birthday. Going by that information, I'm going to assume he's about 16-17 years old. Julian is very concerned with his reputation among his friends. p. 80 line 14. “ I'm OK with this as long as you don't go around school telling everyone “ p. 90 line 22 “ Ha! You've been hanging out with fatboy. And all I can think of as a comeback is, He lives round the corner from me, what can I do? Right in front of him “ Martin is almost exact opposite of Julian in every way thinkable. Martin is pressumably overweight. p. 82 line 2 from bottom. “ with his fat arse wobbling across the shingle “ Martin is far from popular in school, which he's aware of. Julian is probably...

Term Paper

...Brandy Schwartzberg Midterm paper In this class we have learned there are three separate jobs that everyone that works in the sound department has to know. Even though they are separate jobs they blend together a little bit. These jobs are the mixer, the cord operator and the boom technician. Without these people a movie would not have good sound as far as dialogue and ambiance. The first job is the mixer. This person has a lot of responsibilities. They connect the mixer to the recorder along with connecting the other equipment to the mixer. They make sure that we have good sound. They do this by putting the mixer audio level at zero and then putting the recorders DB level at negative twelve. By doing this it gives them some head room incase an actor increases the ton of their voice i.e. yells at another actor, we will still have good audio. The mixer is also in charge of doing the time codes. This means they right down the time code or this time on the recorder which the audio is recording and then writes down if that take was good or bad. Next we have the cord operator. This person’s job although you may think it is pretty easy it is a very important part of this department. Without a cord operator your boom person can fall, trip, ect. because someone is on standing on the cord. This person is also in charge of keeping the cords wrapped correctly. The last job on set as far as sound goes is the boom operator. This person determines which kind of mic he...

Using the critical thinking skills you have gained so far and referring to the materials provided for this assignment, identify two possible strategies that Thomas Hutchinson or Samuel Adams likely used to develop and improve their thinking as those historical events unfolded prior to taking a stand and acting according to their beliefs. There are several skills that Thomas Hutchinson and Samuel Adams likely used to develop and improve their thinking skills. When they acted on their beliefs, they needed to be extremely creative in their thinking skills to motivate the others. Thinking ahead and planning was also essential. I also think that they used a lot of reasoning and assessing in order to get the proper information to get the support that they needed to fight back against taxes that they felt were unlawful. With the two men not seeing eye to eye on everything, they had to reason with one another in order to come up with a plan of action. 2. Explain the importance of building a foundation for critical and creative thinking when evaluating historical events such as the Boston Tea Party.
