Speeches Sweaty palms, perspiration running down your face, dry mouth; these are all the signs of someone who is nervous about giving a speech. When thinking about speaking sometimes it brings fear. It is important to remember that public speaking is a part of everyday life. You may not have a large audience, but you do have an audience and you must convey what you are trying to get across to them. Public speaking is another form of conversation. There is as rich history in public speaking. As early as ancient Greece speeches were required as part of the education. Plato said that Rhetoric is the art of winning the soul by discourse. Aristotle identified the basic elements of good speech and persuasion as ethos, logos, and pathos. The ethos (credibility, believability) of the speaker was important; the logos (logic) behind any conclusions drawn by the speaker during the course of the speech needed to be valid and clear; and the pathos (emotional appeals) were important in making human connections between the speaker and the listener. In the Bible there are many examples of this process. “And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain, and when he was set his disciples came unto him. And he opened his mouth and taught them saying, Blessed are the poor is spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth.” (Thompson King James Version Bible, Psalm 139:1-10)This familiar passages is taken from Matthew 5:1-5. It is also known at the Beatitudes. The speaker in this scripture is Jesus. This is one of the first speeches Jesus made. Speeches have been around for a very long time. A speech is used for many reasons. In this speech Jesus is letting the people know that it is a blessing available to those who believe. This speech is a way to get people to

As far as giving a typical definition it’s kind of difficult to give the internet one meaning. Unlike any other technology, the internet can be whatever we can make it. We can shape it however we may choose and the best part is how affective it’s used to connect to people, communities and countries all over the world. In the early days when the internet was still considered new, most people just used the internet to search for information. Most traditional communications...

Sexual Orientation Paper

...someone due to hate crime -youth are bullied due to their sexual orientation which often leads to depresion -"It gets better" project-LGBT youth are at higher risk of suicide and suicidal ideations (Mueller, 2015). Research shows that youth who attend schools where sexual orientation and stigma are high are more likely to have mental health issues. Youths are at an age where they are impressionable and often identify with how others see them. There is previous research that suggests males have a higher likelihood of being bullied due to their sexual orientation over females and also white males have a higher report rate over black males. There did not seem to be any difference between bullying in person and cyber bullying. - For example, the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network 2011 National School Climate Survey indicated that "Black LGBT students were less likely to feel unsafe at school or report physical or verbal harassment be¬ cause of their sexuality than their White, Hispanic or multiracial LGBT peers" (Kosdw, 2012). -Another issue that is prevalent among what these youth are being identified as "sexual minorities" is increase in homelessness. Corliss, Goodenow, Nicholas, and Austin (2011) performed a study in Massachusetts high schools which indicated that sexual minorities were at a greater risk of homelessness than their heterosexual counterparts. Many of these children become homeless as a result of their parents' disapproving of their sexual orientation. This...

Maltrato Infanti Y Sus Consecuencias

...Classical conditioning shapes many of society's common, everyday tasks. Whether we know it or not, many actions we do numerous times a day are a direct result of classical conditioning. To better understand why we act the way we do in society, classical conditioning must be defined and described. Classical conditioning is defined as: a process by which a previously neutral stimulus acquires the capacity to elicit a response through association with a stimulus that already elicits a similar or related response. Discovered by Ivan Pavlov, classical conditioning is a form of learning. Pavlov revealed this trait when experimenting with dog's amounts of saliva in response to meat. He started noticing that after many repetitions, the dogs were salivating before the meat was even introduced. Pavlov concluded that some other stimulus that was repetitively associated with the meat was triggering the salivation. This simple concept describes how many actions are carried out in society today. Many times classical conditioning is not something that is purposefully done, but rather an incidental outcome. Conditioning may take a variable amount of time to occur. For example, humans are not born associating red with stop. As we grow, and ride in cars, we begin to consciously or subconsciously figure out that when a stoplight is red-you stop. Stop signs are red, stoplights are red, and brake lights are red. All of these things symbolize stopping. Yes, when you turn sixteen and you get your...
